Thanks, but it is fine, it wasnt a too serious clan anyway :) We never played any tournament challenges or so, we just played on public servers.

Thanks alot for the offer to join GAFe, i really appreciate it! :) But i will have to wait alittle to eventually make the decition to change clan, in case my other friend in the clan that i am in starts to play Killzone 2 again. But i will keep it in mind to join GAFe if i should change clan. Thanks alot again for the offer! :)

Ye, that is true, in one way it splits the community because the part who havnt bought the DLC map pack wont be able to play against the people who have bought the DLC map pack, so this way it can be concidered as splitting the community, i agree. But i was just wondering on how much the Killzone 2 community had been split because of the DLC map pack :)

The major problem is that if you have bought the map packs you can't search for games with the new maps in rotation with the old ones. You used to be able to do this. There was a search feature to allow you to search for games which, for example, included Saluman Market in the map rotation or search for games where the only map is Saluman Market. Now you can only do the latter. This search feature, which I used regularly, to find games which had Saluman Market in the rotation was removed in a previous patch. Now you can only search for games which contain one specified map. I have no idea why you removed this search feature, maybe someone just messed up with the patch and you guys have forgotten to fix it. But it's probably the main reason why no one is playing the new maps, you simply can't find games with them in unless you randomly come across them.

I actually still can't believe it happened, or why only Lince & I seem to have brought it up. Maybe no one used the search option or realised what it was for, but it was so useful. And KZ2 desperately needs more search options. It's one of the main reasons the MP is being held back and yet it's the easiest to fix.

Hopefully the new patch that's coming soon fixes this. I will still purchase the new maps, especially if they have trophies :D but expect them to sell poorly or at least die off very quickly unless the search options are fixed...

Also I think if Euro GAF is going to wind down now, we should challenge Guerrilla Games to a clan match. We won their Clan Warfare Tournament and got nothing for it, I think it's the least they can do! :D

They said they have their "Fragfests" on Friday, so we'll challenge them to a game sometime? I'm sure they can drag themselves away from making KZ3 for 30 mins on a Friday ;)

And chance of that happening Tiddles? :)

I used that option always, making sure I was going to find SM/PR games. No answer from the devs yet, maybe it wasn't supposed to be in the retail game and they patched it out? too buggy or messing with their servers setup I guess.

My clan, Eurogamer's clan, AKA 'Better than Halo' would like to challenge you guys. Did message a few of you on PSN, but came to nowt.

You may school us :D, I know you have some fully ranked players.

I also hear you beat AVF in the official tournament. We play with them quite a bit. (they're still fuming :D)
Did you beat them easily, or was it close?

We like to play 10 v 10 or 8 v 8, and would play US or EU as long as it's not at a crazy time.

Meeeeeh. I have no motivation to play anymore competitive clan games right now, need a break I think, playing none stop to get to 100k burnt me out :lol. I'll play against AVF as I signed up and will still play in "casual" GAFe games of course, oh and those awesome 4v4 Scarano games <3. Ahh who am I kidding I'll sign up to anything if you need me. :p I want to play Guerrilla Games tho dammit. Tiddles had better reply!

same here, I'm not playing public games anymore, just scheduled or casual GAFe games... unless the patch fixes spawn invincibility, lag and adds extended game information.

I played Warhawk this afternoon, funny how the netcode/dedicated servers make such a big of a difference, KZ2 is completely ruined by lag.
 
I agree public games are the pits.

If you like casual stuff you should play the AVF Mega Room on Friday nights. A few different forums play, we mix the teams and it great banter. Good games too.

I'll check with my guys, then get a challenge sorted.

Was your game with AVF close?

I can't really remember a great deal about it but I think it ended 4-3 to us but we dominated in a couple of the rounds and didn't give any up easily. C&H came down to the wire though we would have won it easily had I not screwed up by muting my mic and forgetting I had muted it, in turn messing up spawn rotation with the other tactician :lol.

So, it was a close match but we did deserve to win. They complained no end about rockets/assault after the game but if they are enabled what are you going to do, get destroyed by the other team using them while you play the "honourable" role? I think not. However their recollection of the match is pretty skewed by the loss claiming we had nothing but assault in BC and the likes, which was no where near true.

When you challenge us please make it no more than 8v8 with assault disabled and I'll be there. Killzone wont be played anywhere near as much as it used to be for me but I'll still be up for forum challenges and the likes.

The game with AVF was worthless really and isn't a measure of anything. In fact every game in that awful GG tourney was. The person who came up with those setting should be fired... Actually, that would probably include everyone on the MP design team so never mind :p

I'm looking forward to the AVF game because they're English right? So there should be minimal lag for once. Hopefully anyway...

No doubt Click is like that but he was in GAFA so I protect my own *thumps chest*

true, I had a ping of 40ms or less to any server outside Spain before my sister decided she wanted to have HD TV with our ISP, they had to disable fast-patch for that and my ping went up, still nothing compared to KZ2.

of course there will be, I am personally waiting for the patch. Seb said it would be out before the end of the month... should be this week I guess.

But attacking Jaffe is not a good idea. Specially since Jaffe post was a nice 'Enjoy E3!' post.

I think Live has had enough, Lince & I are a little burnt out going for 100k, and inFAMOUS & Uncharted 2 Beta will distract people til the end of June. We'll see how things go after that, we've still got a patch and 2 more maps to try out!

We have a clan game this Sunday but I don't really feel like playing anymore for a while. we'll probably still play casually together now and again just for fun of course. Just gonna play some other games in between now. We'll see what happens after the Uncharted 2 Beta, if we don't have too many active players on each side I'd be happy for us to merge the clans! That'd be awesome.

I'll still play occasionally, but nowhere near as much as before. Public scene for KZ2 is a piece of shit, that's what happens when you give players too much freedom to do what they want. Useless tacticans, Assault spammage, rare medics, overused Engineers. Classes should have been balanced better with pros/cons much like TF2.

If it wasn't for the DLC locking me out of GAFe casual games every other night before Rick shared with me, i probably wouldn't have this much of a bitter taste in my mouth ;p

Yeh see how it is after UC2 beta and inFamous.

Sony will update Killzone 2 to v1.27 “tomorrow morning,” SCEE just said via email.

A lot of “tweaking” has gone on, from the look of it, in response to user feedback.

Killzone®2 Update from Guerrilla Games

Since its launch in February 2009, Guerrilla has remained committed to keeping Killzone®2 one of the strongest multiplayer experiences for PLAYSTATION®3. This week sees the release of Patch 1.27, which introduces a number of tweaks based on direct feedback from the Killzone community. We sat down with Eric Boltjes, Guerrilla’s Lead Multiplayer Designer, to walk us through the most important changes and the reasons for their implementation.

First of all, Eric, can you run us through the highlights of Patch 1.27?
Sure! Most importantly, we’ve added functionality to make the process of finding and playing with friends much easier, tweaked the Skirmish Mode to keep it interesting for players with lower-bandwidth network connections, introduced a new ‘High Precision’ option to the controller configuration menu, and improved the overall balance of the game. There’s also a host of smaller changes as well, but I’ll save that for the change log.

Let’s start with the first one: finding and playing with friends. How has that been changed?
We’ve examined how party systems work and added similar functionality to our game where possible. The ‘Join Friend’ option has been changed so that the player can automatically join a friend’s faction and squad – even if faction balancing is on. In addition, squads and their factions are now persistent over multiple games, so friends can keep playing together continuously.

You said the Skirmish Mode been tweaked – can you explain?
Well, we’ve decided to unlock all the badges in Skirmish Mode. Considering that the game has been out for a while, and that many players have already reached the rank of General, we believe this is a nice way for players with lower-bandwidth network connections to experience the full range of weapons and abilities available in the Warzone.

Control-wise, what exactly does the new ‘High Precision’ option do?
When this option is switched on, it makes the analog sticks more responsive to small movements. Turned off, the controls behave exactly as they did before the patch. It’s not a radical overhaul of the control system, so the layout and the ‘weight’ of the controls remain the same.


Still, a lot of us here at Guerrilla really enjoy the new High Precision option, so we’ve decided to switch it on by default for new players. Existing Killzone 2 players will have the option turned off by default after patching – we wouldn’t want to force a sudden change to the controls on you!

How have you improved the overall balance of the game?
For starters, Patch 1.27 allows players to switch factions manually if the factions are unbalanced. If the factions consist of, say, 13 players versus 11 players, a player from the largest faction can manually switch over to make it an even 12 versus 12. Switching in the other direction is not allowed, so players from the smaller team can’t defect to the larger team if the battle doesn’t go their way. Players who switch over retain all their points, but squad affiliations will of course be lost.

Furthermore, we’ve removed the temporary invulnerability awarded to players who spawn at a spawn point other than the base camp. The players will still be safe at their own base camp, but custom-placed or mission-based spawn points do not yield temporary invulnerability anymore. This will hopefully give opposing players already at this location a fair chance.

Finally, we’ve made a couple of changes to the Badge abilities. The Assault Badge, for instance, was deemed too powerful by many players – so we tweaked down its Armor ability from 100 hit points to 50 hit points. The Tactician Badge’s secondary ability (to request air support from a Sentry Bot) has also been tweaked to make the Sentry Bot more useful. It can aim more accurately now, and its health is a little higher as well. To make it even more useful, we’ve reduced the way automated turrets target them, so they’re not shot down as fast. It should certainly make the Air Support Specialist ribbon easier to obtain!

This patch demonstrates the continued support and dedication to Killzone 2. Stay tuned for more downloadable content and more tweaks coming in the near future.

Yeah, some nice changes there. (Tough i would love to have spawn limits some day)
The change log is probably longer than that, but those are really changes based on community feedback.

some good tweaks. I don't like the airbot getting more health/precision though, but I already got my ribbon (legitly):D . Reducing Assault is a good move. I really wish they would explain the spawn points when throwing them, as public matches are unbearable with people throwing them in the wrong direction. Spawn invicibility gone = :D (although I wish the people spawning just couldn't hit the other player. this will probably lead to a ton of spawn camping).

I think it's a good move for the airbot to be honest. At the moment, it's near useless. Especially compared to those damn turrets.

p.s. party system?!

Hopefully they remove the 15-second delay they added in the last patch too. They likely won't, but I think everyone would appreciate it.

The fixes sound pretty good, especially the airbot one. That's overdue.

Wow. Sounds like all the changes people want are there. The only problem now is that bad tacticians are going to hurt your team even more than they already were.

I dont like that spawn thing too much. So while Im spawning and trying to get my bearings any asshole can shoot me down? Laaaaaaaaame.

Well hopefully this forces people to be a bit more careful with their spawns... but it wont.

In the beta you always spawned in the middle of the smoke, so you could litterally just stand in enemy smoke and melee all the time. No chance for spawning players to react. But you spawn a little more random around the smoke now right?

The patch sounds good.
I wish they'd give us the ability to turn off secondary badges without turning off the entire class (C4 and boost anyone) and patch in the ability for the rifleman to use the saboteur and sniper rifles.

Don't know how many will do this, but that's definitely a good addition. We'll certain use it to keep the teams balanced.

I also think Boost should be canceled when you've shot someone, like with the Cloak and Disguise ability. But that's certainly a nice tweak.

Coming to think about it, the spawn invincibility issue is a double edged sword.

My original idea was to remove invincibility as soon as you fire.

anyway tomorrow I will be returning to the Kill Zone, time to die!

you know... now tacticians will be the real game-deciders, Cagen should be happy or extremely annoyed with these news :lol
