KILLZONE 2 - The |OT|

Just got the game, right when they release the patch 1.28. I'm finding the game very enjoyable. Was the game REALLY that bad before the patches?

No not at all. The patches mostly just fixed a few minor gripes that helped make all play styles a little more fair.

This will contain some minor fixes for some glitches that came up in Visari Palace after 1.28.

Seems pretty minor, nothing to get excited about (unless they stealth fix the FUCKING BROKEN difficulty spike). Can't get a link right now, because the site seems to be down.

has the load time increased since 1.28 when you start or join a multiplayer game? It just seems longer to me than it used to be. Any one else noticed?

they seemed longer to me last night when joining random rooms...even in my local region. But they are pretty fast when joining people on my psn friends list.

Jesus, I have been playing bodycount for FAR TOO LONG.

I jumped into a high level warzone match starting capture and hold and GOT MY SHIT ROCKED. It was pathetic, I think I was down ten kills. I was doing my best to help the team with air support and strategic spawn location but we were still losing. Eventually I realized that if I stayed in this game I would end up massacring my KDR so I quit and went back to bodycount again.

70 kills, 20 deaths. I'm back in a good mood again :D

But yeah, if I want to play with you guys its pretty clear I'm going to have to start doing warzone again and relearn the tactics necessary to win.

I've heard Visari's speech in the intro so many times, waiting for the logos, I could probably recite it all right now. "Sons and daughters of Helghan, this much I vow...."

It was definitely much more challenging and very satisfying once you got through to the ending.

The history of these days will be written in blood. By crushing the armies of our enemies...

Wow, how come? I haven't played 32 players, as I love Halo's 16 player count. Am I missing out?

I've kind of made this point enough but for the sake of information... The game had this good feature where anytime you would spawn you were given a few moments of invicibility. This was done to deter people from camping spawn points. You could still stalk a spawn point but the invicibility gave recently spawned players some time to adjust to what was happening around them. People camp at the bases anyway so they must have figured out that people were going to do this with the spawn points people drop around the map. Unfortunately, this also ruined objective games because people would throw spawn points at bombing locations and it would give those teams an advantage. The game would turn into a mess, so after much whining from objective fans they removed the invicibility from the game. For fans of deathmatch it was not a good move, but objective fans had good reason to like it. I'm more into deathmatch.

Killzone at 32 players is awful. Most of the maps are too small for the player count, the frame rate takes a hard hit, and the gameplay doesn't really match the quality of smaller games. People seem to like it though which I don't understand. Halo's 16 player BTB games are my favorite part of Halo games and 16-24 is about the right size for Killzone 2 as well.

Thanks. Now I know not to play them. And you know what Guerrilla? FUCK the Assault Class/ and Rocket noobs.

Oh I disagree about 32 players being bad. I don't like playing games with anything LESS than 32 players because they TAKE FOREVER. I like to burn through my games, getting the points, going from one game to another. You drop the player count in Bodycount from 32 to even 20 and a game that usually takes 5 mins on the smaller maps no lasts around 15. And don't even think about playing with less than 32 on Pyrrhus (great map, BTW). I mean, I love getting 60 or 70 kills in a single match singlehandedly, but frankly, getting 35 kills in a single match when the place is jammed and shit is flying everywhere is A LOT more fun and satisfying, IMO.

I can't even imagine playing Halo with a measely 16 guys, what isi it, a Wii game?? Why couldn't they have more people on the game? Are the MS servers not good enough?

Oh, wait, the person who started the game on XBL is the host, so people are paying $50 a year for P2P with the priviledge of being bombarded with ads.

But now I'm going off on a tangent....

Hi all,

Some of you may have experienced issues with the Visari Palace mission from the Killzone 2 campaign mode after installing patch 1.28. We’ve received reports of crashes, graphical glitches and general progression issues - particularly when playing from a save game created before patch 1.28. The problem will be fixed with patch 1.29, which is due for release on Thursday , July 23 at 9:00 AM GMT.

The full list of fixes for this patch is as follows:

1. Visari Palace - Autarch’s Sanctum - Continue button can cause progression issues on save game created before patch 1.28
2. Crash - Crash fix for DLC3 "Napalm & Cordite"

We apologize for the inconvenience, and appreciate your patience in this matter.

ugh, body count only.

And you can adjust the amount of kills it takes to end the round.

Likeable? Must be a typo. :lol
No it's not a typo. :p

Edit: to clarify, from all the characters in the game, I find that Garza is the most liked one by me. Now do his squad mates like him? I'm not sure and don't care. :lol

Have a fun! Enjoy!
The least I expect to happen at the VERY beginning of KZ3 is Rico being taken to jail
for what he did at the end of KZ2.

And then you play the whole game as him attempting to escape prison Chronicles of Riddick-style. Now this would be cruel :lol

Agreed, however I also want him (Rico) to take place of Jan Templar
since he died in KZ2
, and then you (Sev) become the helghast leader and fight your way off of Helghast, onto Vekta, then off that planet and to Earth.. boss fight, you versus that sonofabitch Rico who never helped you as your partner. :D

the pew pew rifle is fun, don't move when you fire it is really quite easy to use

Exactly. I said this earlier in the thread as well. It's a lot easier than it looks, so long as you get of the 'run and gun, I'm gonna blow everything up' mindset. I like the M82 as much as anyone else, but the StA 14 is also really satisfying to use, especially crouching in a tight corridor. I often get as many kills with it as I do with the M82, but with a much lower death count.

I've tried the STA a few times, but it just seems like it has the same range/power as the M4. I usually stick with an automatic or shotty + M4.

But everyone will love Ra...I mean Rico in KZ4.

A friend let me borrow KZ2 and I just finished it now, such a damn awesome game. Is the online play good? :p
Aside from a few minor issues and some framedrops, the online is the real heaven of the game.
Also, this might sound like a dumb advice but have you read the OP? It has tons of info regarding this department. ;)

Today I joined a game midway and the 4 turrets were placed inside the base!

Needless to say that was my shortest KZ2 session ever. :lol

The STA14 is less powerful than an M4 (2-3 shot kill compared to 1-2 shot for M4), but it fires much faster, has practically no recoil, and is much more accurate (reticule is literally a small + when crouching).

Sorry Joe I couldn't get more than one full round in before my connection imploded on me. The last few nights has been a nightmare for disconnections and pretty sure it's PSN/KZ2 rather than at my end. Hopefully the next patch stabilises it.

well said, i'm a pure warzone player so i can't stand the old invincible spawn points, as 4/5 game types are objective based. One more thing I wish they'd revert to like in the beta is to have default friendly fire on (anytime friendly fire is on you don't get half as many rocket noobs, and people who use them use them more sparingly). Sadly there are way too many complaints of friendly fire for that to ever happen :(

best multiplayer console game. has flaws but the feel, gfx and awesomeness just goes above and beyond the rest IMO. I played cod4, a LOT of competitive CS before, and warhawk, this is the most fun experience i've had among them.

Hi everyone
My first post.:D
Just have to say this tread has been legendary and I have been lurking for so long. But somehow just isn't the same without FFobsessed, saddens me to look at my friends list to see he hasn't signed on to KZ2 in so long. The battles between him and I go way back to the beta. I have played many a game against the Gaf crew and I can remember Kittonwy complaining about spawn points :lol
Looking forward to giving lince and cagen some payback. :p
