KILLZONE 3 |OT| The King Is Dead. Long Live The King.

Oh okay, I think I'll be sticking with infiltrator and Guerilla Warfare (TDM) to get my XP up. I loooove the shotgun, and once you get behind enemy lines you can kill whatever Marksmen they have camping, take their StA14 or sniper rifle and start getting headshots on everybody left on their half of the map.

When I get dual primary weapons or silent footsteps I'm going to be so very happy.

Aside: The level 3 marksman secondary, which scrambles radar, seems like a downgrade from level 2, which just hides you and your allies on their radar. If I'm sneaking behind enemy lines I'd rather not be putting out radar static that screams "THERE'S A MARKSMAN NEARBY!"

I wholly agree with you. I thought of that when I read the descriptions. It stacks with the previous upgrades, so you keep the allied scramble which can be effective on an enemy up to 15 meters + however long an enemy radar can see, but with level 2 you're announcing your presence.

The only benefit I can see is that the enemy won't see his friends and any objects on the radar, and I suppose any enemies that aren't shielded by a Marksman's scramble.

I'd say it's good for team work, but not so much in public games where there is none.

I hadn't heard of that one. All I can say is that all media in the US has a generic release day of Tuesdays. Not just games. Music/movies/games, all the whatnots.

I know they're the same day in order to reduce shipping cost. If a single company has a lot of releases scheduled, it's cheaper to have one truck come and pick it all up at once than multiple times a week.
Beyond that, I don't know why we release on a different day than the rest of the world.

But the above could be translated to other medias as well. Since movie theatre releases are on Friday, there is no reason for those companies to compete with themselves and release their DVDs/Blurays in retail on the same day.

So, by and large, I do think it's just a better proposition to release products mid week instead of at the end when movies and concerts would be going on.

It actually helps a great deal. This is not CoD where most of the time you get the jump on people be sneaking up on them. In KZ3 the enemy generally knows where you are because of spawn points and what ever game mode is on. The scrambler helps because the enemy can not be 100% sure of HOW MANY people there are at any location. It also helps to confuse the enemy and you can send sabs in to fuck them up even more so.

It's a great tactic high level Marksmen have the ability to initiate.

Argh it pisses me off. People have completed the game and it's not even fucking out here yet.

Why does the US get games on Tuesdays anyway? The rest of the world does Fridays except them. WTF?

In my short time with the game last night, I discovered a bug that lets you juice your XP online super easily.

I am trying to contact Guerilla to inform them. What's the best way? I emailed them already via an address on their official site, but no response as of yet...

Try the KZ forums? They have community folks reading through it.

Eh, not really a big deal imo. I bet most people will have their preferred class maxed out (especially with the preorder bonuses) the first day so XP doesn't matter as much as in other online games. Then again, I guess some folks care about the leaderboards, right? You should try posting a message on the official forums.

Is scramble always on once you unlock it? Because your point obviously makes sense, but I'd rather not have it on if I'm guarding a demolition or capture and hold point by myself, for example. And on public servers this happens fairly often, since random internet people hate playing defense.

If I'm cloaked in a random corner (though that's actually the worst place to cloak since that is where they'd expect you to be) waiting for them to start planting I am more likely to get the drop on them if they think no one is there instead of them knowing that there is a marksman somewhere in the immediate vicinity.

When I discovered it I felt like a cheater. I would rather rank up properly.

I posted on the official forums, I guess we'll see.

I noticed that last night but I wonder how much of KZ2 you had to indulge in to get that. At first I figured you had to be CiC but it doesn't seem that way.

Urg, the jungle map is probably my most hated fps mp map of all time. What a piece of fucking shit. Whoever approved that god awful map needs to be fired. I don't care how many of you reply in defense of that abomination, it's garbage and needs to be patched out of this game and forgotten.

Id like to add that on a whole, this game (mp wise) is way worse than KZ2. The maps, the lag, the graphics, the frame rate are all downgrades from KZ2. Why are there no dedicated servers? If I can't "create" a game, who the fuck is hosting this shit? I guess it's the guy that raped our whole team in warzone with 70+ fucking kills and only 12 deaths while running around spray n praying. I think the rage I have built up tonight is enough for me to leave this thread and mp in KZ3 forever. I will finish sp and trade this in for what I should have bought, MVC3.

Peace out.
Hahaha holy shit man. Brutal. I was feeling this way last night too hahahahash

Na you have to unlock it manually so you can stay at lvl 2 if you wanted.

The fact the marksman can cloak helps with this though since even if they know a marksmen is nearby they still are not able to see you if you're camping.

GG have done a good job balancing all of the abilities this time round imo.

Oh also alr1ghtstart......

Isn't D-Pad right unused on Marksman? It should be set to radar disable on/off.

My new theory about the ending. Just thought this one up during my drive to work:
It's neither Stahl nor Visari. It's actually Visari's DAUGHTER!!!! Visari knew his days were numbered at the end of KZ2. He knew the biggest obstacle for her daughter to inherit his throne are the senators, especially Stahl and Orlock. So, instead of handing down the throne to his daughter, he purposefully provoked the ISA (Rico) to kill him, creating a period of chaos and confusion, letting Stahl and Orlock killing each other in their struggle for the throne. Then, his daughter returns. It will be HIS blood that rules Helghan forever.

In KZ4 we will face a female villain!!!!

That's highly plausible come to think of it. When I first watched the opening sequence, I did think she would be the lead at some point or another. Only natural that the blood line would continue especially given it is almost monarchical.

So which class is the one with a little flying bot following them? Is it the tacticioan? Cause i'm a tactician but my drone only flyes over an area and i don't think it follows me.

Yes, and then the marksman shoots you from stealth with his silenced auto weapon.

I was ranked in the top 4K at one point, so I thought maybe that was it as well; Nothing special then, bummer, LOL.

Everything seems so bright. Maybe I have brightness too high, but it's a lot brighter than KZ2.

I'm also playing with Move controller first, but I kind of hate how it's not the recoiling crosshair. It's more like a lightgun crosshair when not using lock-on targeting. My shots that are dead on the enemy aren't hitting where I want it to hit.

Yeah, plus they won't just
show her in the opening
for nothing, right?
She
will have to play a role somehow... The king is dead.

Played the single-player game and reached the jungle level. The game has been incredibly fun so far, and the graphics/art direction are mindblowing. Easily the best looking console game so far (sorry UC2).

I hope I still have a decent chunk left of the game.

Once you reach the stage in the demo, your about half way through. I love this game though. It doesn't overstay its welcome, its punchy enough to get you going, and it offers everything in terms of exploration :).

Finally, someone talking about the single player.

Yeah you definitely have a decent chunk left. What difficulty are you playing on?

I'm playing on Veteran. The game has been a decent challenge so far, have died several times at parts. Nothing as infuriating as the latter half of KZ2 yet, which feels good since my patience is thinner than before. :p

I've had fun on every map so far. Midnight release my friends and I were pulling out hair out playing some of the bigger maps. But once we made sure one person was a tactician and the other a engineer for backup we really figured out the maps and loved playing all of them.

Warzone fucking sucks now. Without spawn grenades I spend 99% of my time running across the map only to be shot by some guy waiting for me. I'm only having fun in team deathmatch but the rounds are too short.

Remember you can change your initial spawn so you aren't always spawning way in the back. That helps to cut down a lot of the running time.

Of course that requires tacticians to have taken spawns first.

A tactician that does not work to capture spawn points in Kz3 would not be worried to throw and defend spawn grenades in Kz2 i guess.

Random thoughts time.

After playing through them again last night, in terms of audio, the charge-up sounds that the
MAWLR makes during the big ground battle
is so awesome. I really like that odd telephony/modem effect too for some reason.

Also at the end, in Elite, when
chasing down Stahl's ship, the second wave of attack ships that come at you
gave me a really hard time. They take you down almost instantly and it's hard to tell why.
