Killzone: Shadow Fall |OT| Nothing Stops This Rain

Just got past Ch 7's freefall section and I was starting to get pissed off. Then I get to the actual bottom and get swarmed by Spiderbots. I'm starting to sense the game is getting ready to get bad. How much longer is the game?

Chapter 7's freefall section? What did you have issues with? I didn't die once!

With regards to the spiderbots, you are supposed to hack the pods to disable them. You can actually hack all of those pods before you even get started on the level. Scan your environment to identify where the pods are and disable all of them before you work your way past the guards. Makes it so much easier. I actually really enjoyed that level since it was a great combination of stealth, hacking and action.

yo fuck psn right now, theres no way I can get my preorder owl skins and spotlight move i guess.

I redeemed the code on my pc and theres no way to send it to my ps4. I contacted sony support and we ran through every possible option, including deleting game data and reinstalling, and the skins still arent showing up man.

I guess everyone that redeemed the code through pc is fucked because people that did it on the ps4 eventually get their skins to show up.

If anyone knows how to get them let me know, and if anyone from guerilla or sony is reading this, fix this shit, i'm beyond pissed. Yeah its just skins and a spotlight move but I had this preordered since the beginning and I should get my god damn preorder bonus.

I'm on Chapter 7, in a part where you have to disable the security system (check), then open a huge hatch in the middle of the room (check) and are finally supposed to grab a rope and repel into the huge hatch opening in the middle of the room. I have no rope. And there's no way to line up the OWL's zip line so that it hits anything in the hole. And apparently it's not deep enough for the magic inflatable pillow thing, but too deep to just jump into without dying. I've restarted this section probably more than a dozen times. I've exited, then gone back in several times. Not once have I seen a rope. No rope, no continue. Anyone else run into this?

Someone answer this before I lose my shit!!!!!!!!!....it has to be a glitch but if I restart and have to do this chapter from beginning I'm done with this game because if this stupid no save system

The freefall is easy once you know how to do it, problem is GG tosses you into it without any instruction, and players will die in like 2-3 seconds before they can understand whats happening.

I just beat it and I'm very lucky I'm not hitting up best buy tonight for a new duelshock4. The free fall sections drove me crazy. I must have done one of them 30+ times. I also had trouble with the rope. I just jumped and it appeared. The story was pretty weak, but I'm sure they didn't have much time to develop it much more. Now I can dive more into multiplayer.

i had no trouble with free fall parts. the first one i died a couple times. the second one i died once and got through the 2nd try.

i thought they were pretty fun. my issues were a wave defense level and protect the cargo level. those just started to get on my nerves when i magically beat them.

So far I'm quite enjoying the game, goes without saying it looks great, plays so damn smooth. The story isn't mind blowing of course but for what it is I'm rather enjoying it. Managing to sneak up and kill someone and throw a knife into someone else is always fun when able to do it.

Eh? What do you mean? I just jumped into the hatch and he rappelled down automatically! Do you die if you try that?

Checkpoint system is the only thing in this game that seems "buggy". Hadn't faced an issue so far until the free fall. Had beaten it yesterday and turned it off. Had to redo it today, but since I got a hang of it, it was easy to get past it in 3 attempts. It looked even better the second time round. I've recorded the footage as well. Will upload to facebook once I set it up.

Seriously guys, there is nothing in this section that is "buggy" to deserve a patch. You just need to figure out how to control the fall. They do give instructions right at the beginning, you just need to follow it, try it out, die and try again. If that didn't help, look at the tips I had dropped in the last two pages.

I don't know. It's not like they said "find a rope" did they? Lucas has always been able to rappel with his equipment. I hadn't even realized that I needed to look for one. Just jumped in! :D

The first free fall is simple, it's the 2nd one that sucks because they don't tell you the controls till after you get past the first few parts of it. Lot of people end up dying trying to get past the first couple falling buildings and pieces of debris before the game puts up the how to on the screen. And then they do silly things like put a line of arrows on the screen to guide you to where your supposed to go, but part of that goes through parts of buildings that you should avoid.

They were kinda cool ideas that were just very poorly implemented.

So is it just me or is there seriously less than 1500 people online on a Saturday evening? Custom warzones mean nothing if there's no one in them, jesus.

Checkpoint system is very buggy for me. It seems totally arbitrary where I start after I quit the game, oftentimes it's two or three checkpoints behind where I quit.

Hope Guerrilla games has Echo as the protagonist in the next installment with a hopefully better story. Come on Guerrilla, get some better writers!
I think this needs to stop. Not to single you out personally, Vooduu, but people have been saying this for 5 years now. They've had 4 mainline games and number of spin-offs to get this right. They haven't. The kindest thing you could say about any Killzone plot-line is "at least it's not terrible" which equates to absolutely nothing in a genre littered with mediocre campaigns. GG is physically, mentally, creatively, and logistically incapable of producing an interesting campaign. Killzone needs to be Old Yeller'd or turned into a MP game only. At this point, would anyone want other KZ over a brand new IP (outside of their rumored ARPG)?

1500? I was playing last night with friends. 89 total players in the deathmatch gametype.

I kept hoping that the numbers meant how many rooms were actively playing instead of how many players. I don't think that's the case, but I'm also confused as to why some playlists have 3 or 6 people playing.

I thought Killzone 2 was great :(

Killzone 3 was beyond awful though. Maybe Killzone 2 was a fluke?

Killzone 2 had a number of things going for it. It was the preeminent graphical showcase for a console in dire of need one. It was one of the most hyped titles ever. It had a polarizing, yet distinctive multiplayer. If Shadow Fall was a mid-generation game, do you think its reception would be better or worse? The MP this time around is competent (can't say that for KZ3). But it's utterly generic. Another ADS heavy shootbang. You might enjoy the game, I don't know. But I'll probably continue to play the MP for a few more weeks and then never think about it ever again -- as most people will.

I was playing chapter 2. I finish the AA gun part, then die a few times trying to reach the communication tower. Everytime I die I respawn at the AA gun. I quit after a few tries.

When I come back again I restart at the cliff (where you got no ammo and need to use the drone to kill the 2 enemy)). So apparently the checkpoint is not the same as auto save point?

Ending felt really anti climatic until that last small bit at the end. Always a fan of the stealth option. Decent campaign, and despite being very subdued, the soundtrack stood out for me.

Multiplayer is damn good, the mobile spawns combined with the intricate maps make for some awesome strategic plays. Great when everyone's playing a role. Too bad about mic comms.

Ok so I just got to the part
where on Helgan you walk up behind a Helghast soldier who is talking to himself? or his brother about how he remembers when the planet was bombed, and how they will do the same to Vekta but let the civilians leave.

Oh man the feels.
I didn't want to kill him. I really didn't.

This game is pretty damn good IMO. I think the campaign is more compelling than Halo 4

Finally got the chapter 8 free fall part, after about 50 tries lol...now I am stuck a little further in the chapter but I will figure it out,I have an idea what to do,just missing something, like someone says over and over,''keep looking, there must be something around''...

Just finished Chapter 8, good god damn, what were they thinking. I loved this game up until about Chapter 6, at this point, it's just run and gun and hope you survive. Also, the lack of any sort of minimap or in game map is starting to really become apparent.

Multiplayer is still fun as hell though.

I can't image chapter 8 because I can't fucking get past chapter 7. This second freefall... wtfh? I don't know if this is by design or if I just got unlucky. I got to a checkpoint during the freefall, but everytime I retry
the crate I have to protect is down to one hit. 4/5 restarts it instantly explodes. Fuck this shit.

WTF at that ending though lol.
They had me going with that fake ending. Kellen though. Jeez

You can use the OWL to hack the SpiderBot chests.

Yeah, it's very dumb. I'm a pretty strong believer in being able to walk away from a game and start pretty much where you left off.

So I just finished and thought about the ending a little more.

Overall I'm pretty satisfied. I enjoyed the game a lot, I think it was a better single player campaign than Halo 4 at least. There were some annoying sections like the free-fall but I didn't really think it was unfair, just that you'd have to try a few times. I don't have a problem with that. I don't mind hard games. Shame about Kellen. I was hoping they would go further on his dynamic with Echo. I always get sad when games do that in an ending :(

So I just finished the game and I enjoyed it overall. Some frustrating parts, but nothing worse than a lot of other shooters that I've played. I'll go into more detail below:

Game started slow but levels 3-6 i absolutely loved. The last few were a notch down but certainly not terrible - average at worst. The only freefall segment I had a problem with was the beginning of Chapter 8 when the city is kind of collapsing. It took me a few tries but there was a checkpoint halfway through and it was mostly just about getting the feel of flying down and figuring out the best path to take. I didn't despise it like some people did. The first ending was very unsatisfying but I found the last line "For Kellan" to be surprisingly touching. I really liked Echo and hope we can see more of her in a future game, female protagonist perhaps?

Finished it tonight as well and I agree. I was pretty satisfied with the whole package. The freefall sections were easy as shit to me and didn't seem like anything worse seen in not only the fps genre, but any other genre that randomly throws in one random element from a varying genre. I played the game on hard and the final section was tough as shit, but it never felt cheap. And that's my summary of the entire campaign on hard: difficult, but fair. Except for when the owl doesn't do the stun. That shit is annoying. The ending
totally got me with the faux credits. NeoGAF set me up with all these damn "well that ending was abrupt" comments lol. But I liked it.

And the credits...banderas.gif. Makes me want to watch the KZ2 commercial again. Overall, a great game.

Mkay. I can never remember chapter numbers. I just got through the freefall part with the buildings. I think it's right after The Handler or something. Man that took quite a few tries. It wasn't that bad though. It definitely should not have been in the game, but this part seems to have really gotten so much vitriol from people. I think it was maybe because my cousin and I were taking turns on it that it didn't seem so bad. I thought the part right before it where you had to defend the platform was much more annoying. I never realized you could jump into that giant turret machine thing. I died so many times there. I also really hated the part where you had to
escort the scientist by floating beside her container.
That part was really annoying to me.

Just beat the game on hard (first play through). OMFG!!!! That was so good! It was tough as nails! But I somehow made it. And the ending! Loved the ending
and the satisfying epilogue
. It managed to redeem itself from it's utterly garbage intro.

Every level was so different from the other. They had a unique setting and vibe in each stage that forced you to adapt. Every issue I had with the game seems minor and forgivable. I'm giving this an 8.5 out of ten. Will be posting a slightly more elaborate review in a while. I'm just so exhausted! Need some sugar in me! The game isn't perfect, but deserves far more credit than it has received so far. Good job, GG!

Well I'm going in. Starting from scratch and gonna try to do it all in 1 sitting. Wish me luck.

What difficulty? I can't possibly do hard in one sitting. I probably put in a good 15-20 hours! I'm not that great with shooters though. If you can pull it off in one sitting on hard, I will tip my hat to you! :)

Strange that people are having so much trouble with the freefall.

I find it strange people are calling this game challenging on Hard. It was a cake walk and the easiest game in the entire series.

You people would be crying a river if you tried storming Varsari Palace in KZ2 on elite, or pulling hair out going for the Grand Valor Cross in KZ2 MP. Hard probably rates in about normal on KZ2.

I'd disagree (partially). I played Killzone 2 on hard and it was about the same difficulty. Elite however was a different beast altogether. Having said that, it looks like you are extremely good at this. I don't think it's a cakewalk at hard for a significant number of people. :)

When I finished shadow fall on hard I was initially pissed off that there wasn't an elite difficulty. But really, I don't see myself playing the SP again so whatever.

Killzone 2 was the peak of this series.

Well I finally beat The Last Stand since I knew to take out more enemies before going into the turret and my game didn't crash. The freefall section everyone hates was definitely annoying but also kinda cool. I didn't completely hate chapter 8 either. Gonna run through chapter 9 soon.

As far as whether Hard is actually hard, I don't know if people are complaining about its difficulty so much as its inane game design. Having a section where they tell you to get into a turret but the section is impossible unless you cleared X number of enemies makes no sense from a design perspective.

To have a player fruitlessly grinding away on a section that cannot be completed because he didn't kill enough enemies from the previous section is just infuriatingly stupid design.
