No, Jordan choked before making it to the Finals against the Pistons before finally getting blessed with his HOF crew.

Jordan retires, Bulls still make it to the Eastern Conference Finals. Lebron leaves Cleveland, and the Cavs go from a Finals team who won 66 games, to a group of janitors who won like 8 games. It's no contest who is the better player.

... Really?

I thought thia thread would be intersting enough discussing Kobe's injury and how it will affect his career, then it took a whole different turn...

Lebron James in MJ's NBA, with no zone defenses and players like Bill Laimbeer considered "rough", would be a god.

Michael Jordan in today's NBA would be Tracy McGrady.

holy shit why do you never post in the basketball thread

are you tom penny's alternate-alternate account?

This is more offensive than all the hockey whining in this thread.

OK? NBA is more popular then the NHL. Congrats. It's a joke compared to MLB, NFL and even NCAA Football and Basketball.

Difference is in MLB, there's players but short on true "stars". There isn't any Ruth or Dimaggio these days, and mostly that's based on them playing in New York. The team name matters more, and I'm pretty positive it fell below NBA in ratings anyway recently. NFL meanwhile is an assembly line aside from its QB's. Their only stars. Urlacher led the league in jersey sales for a couple years, ends career with Bears and its a sidenote.

Peyton Manning is a star, but he won 1 title in like 15 years in his league. Kobe is holder of 5 of the last 13 titles. The Lakers are Kobe Bryant at this point, and have been since Shaq left and maybe even a little before. If you live in or have been to LA at any point you know what the team means. This changes the landscape of the NBA. Nobody in the NFL or MLB would have that impact. Peyton leaves and Colts plummet, fine. Brady out a year and they go 11-5. Lakers were maybe not going anywhere this year, we'll never know now, but the attraction is gone from maybe the NBA's most famous franchise, for this year, maybe all of next, and maybe until it finds a new star. Lebron's the only one that would be as significant. Someone like Derrick Rose (and I'm a Bulls fan), and I'd say it doesn't need a thread but this is different.

This is very significant. Haven't read the thread really, but its hilarious to hear NHL chrip that this doesn't deserve a thread. This is spot on..

So the front page of CNN.com is only aimed at "NBA circles"?

http://www.cnn.com/

Meanwhile Sidney Crosby tear his achilles tomorrow and people would ask what WNBA team she played for.

Well the argument could be made that the 1990s competition was much weaker than 2000-Present day. I mean Hakeem Olajuwon would probably be a weak mans Anderson Varejão if he played today just like if Ben Wallace played in the 1960's he'd be a better player than Wilt.

This right here is some traitorous shit. I mean goddamn. Do you even know who Michael Jordan is?

So you're not only taking a dump on MJ but the entire golden age of the NBA?

That takes a lot of guts lol

Opinions are like assholes. Some of us can control the shit coming out of them, some of us have uncontrollable, explosive diarrhea. It all works out.
