ITT 18 guys making the same joke about how NBA is more popular in the US then hockey, congrats! We should invite Football gaf in here to shit all over your sport and your idea of popular.
can soccer fans then come in and shit on nfl fans and their idea of popular? when does it end?

Yea and? If you're not a basketball fan then you probably don't give a fuck about this, which is why it should stay in the NBA thread. Seems pretty simple.

Thread complaining?

New news, new thread. Dude is an icon, appears on television constantly, has his own shoes, and is one of the most readily recognized athletes across the globe.

Get the fuck over it .Just because a nhl injury would fall off the front page in 5 minutes doesnt mean you should come whining like a baby in this thread
You think NHL gaf gives a fuck that the NHL doesn't get much attention on a video game forum? This isn't about the more popular sport, it's about what is thread worthy and what isn't, this was the whole point of OTs.

I was referring to European football and tried to be considerate by calling it by it's real name ;)

Does this diminish some of the MD hate?

"Just off phone with Donald Rose, former Sixers doctor, longtime surgeon to athletes of all kinds. Says Achilles is freak occurrence.. …recent minutes, fatigue or unrelated injuries likely played no role in Kobe's case. "

Are you a mod? Last time I checked you didn't have your name in red. If mods want to close it they will. Have an issue? Complain to them.

this thread is almost 800 posts big and you're still whining about it being relevant. if nhl gaf weren't so salty and attention-starved then this thread would've petered out naturally

and besides gaf has plenty of discussions about irrelevant topics going on, here are some i just looked up right now:

D-bag fashion

Adult GAF question: how do you get rid of mold?!

NHL April 2013 |OT| The thing that happens before After Hours™

Reminder: Scary Movie 5 Is Out

No they aren't. Those OTs are so there arent 2000 threads being made for each individual game. This is like saying making a thread about big political news is worthless because of poligaf. Once again get over it. You arent a fucking mod

Except Evilore has stated time and time again that if there is new news that is at least somewhat important it deserves its own thread. He wants to move away from the all encompassing OTs somewhat.

If its not worthy of a thread don't reply.

how in the blue fuck does stating that the nhl and hockey in general have issues regarding race mean that all hockey fans are racist

Because of your horseshit posts in this thread? Ignoring how Yao Ming and Jeremy Lin were/are treated by fans, the media, and players? Acting like no fans posts racist shit about the NBA on twitter (notable public figures have)? Maybe mention Donald Sterling's racism? I guess racism still exists in 2013 after all and it's not just in a "white" sport.

Maybe mention that two of the most popular players on the two most popular teams are racial minorities? No mention of when fans were chanting for one of them during an open scrimmage earlier in the year during a contract dispute? No mention of the Lebanese descent player getting the loudest reaction during the player introductions at the home opener for his team? (may require some actual knowledge about the sport and league)

actually wait nm epic haha i troll u owned!

This thread is embarrassing on all accounts, but your shit is probably the worst. haha trolled!!!!

why don't you let mods figure out what is thread worthy and what is not? they even made a new no thread whining rule so people would stop trying to kill threads because they don't deem them worthy.

Wow at this thread.

Anyway, deserves its own thread because Kobe still is the most recognizable face in the league to people if only because of what happened in Denver.

The weird thing is that this is the last kind of thread where i thought people would whine. I mean Kevin Ware got a thread for his injury and he was a relatively unknown college player.

i can't say i'm much of a hockey fan. i don't watch it and i could probably name 2 teams that won the stanley cup in the past 10 years (the kings because i live in LA and the redwings.... im just guessing that they have).

but for people who have no interest in hockey, i implore you to actually go to a hockey game. i couldn't be less interested in NHL/hockey in general but seeing it live is pretty entertaining

Just like every other sport.

outside of the shaq pidgin-english incident what issues of racism did yao face in the nba? he's well respected as a player and will almost assuredly be an HOFer. and jeremy lin was embraced by fans as the savior of the knicks last year and almost made the all-star team this year in voting. some fucktard espn writer and/or an asshole like jason whitlock writing racist headlines doesn't mean the fans or players didn't like him.

Isn't thread whining banable? This is an important news, Kobe is one of those super star athletes and this could be the end of his career.

I don't watch Basketball but come on.

I'd rather watch golf or baseball on TV, going to those events is more about the atmosphere. Nothing worse than a baseball game where your home team is being blown out, it's like a waste of time.

Complete rupture. Surgery today.

Fuck. That's going to make the playoffs much more boring. I didn't have a lot of hope for them getting past the first round. But I would rather watch them play than the fucking Jazz or Dallas or something. The post season just got a little less awesome. Hope to see him next season. 30 million on the books though. I mean Jesus Christ. What the hell are the Lakers going to do.

So the front page of CNN.com is only aimed at "NBA circles"?

http://www.cnn.com/

Meanwhile Sidney Crosby tear his achilles tomorrow and people would ask what WNBA team she played for.

Daaaaaaaaaaamn, y'all gettin that work right now. Shouldn't have stormed in here trolling. /shrug

I'm not judging the sport's culture because of a few idiots. Just like you shouldn't judge fans of hockey for the racist/dumb idiots that may associate with it. Insulting all hockey fans, especially the ones that are minorities themslves. Does Lebron judge all basketball fans for the hate he got a few years ago? He admitted that race had a lot to do with it himself, which I agree. He even retweeted some of the racist stuff he got on Twitter. It's not indicative of basketball fans, or even the ones that didn't like what he did. It's indicative of idiots that are racist.

nobody with even a sliver of conscience would associate themselves with a trash sport where black players get bananas thrown at them and receive tweets in which they're called niggers and that they should go play basketball

i shudder to think about the abuse seth jones will receive after all the slackjawed racists that constitute a large part of nhl fandom see him in action

Your words. Hopefully the racists in Florida, Colorado (his hometown), or Calgary (greatest and most loved player in franchise history is black), the three worst teams in the league, aren't too hard on Seth Jones.

wut?

Yeah just outside of those issues, just like outside of some idiots in the stands in the Habs game and 1 idiot in the Flyers game, everything seems fine NHL wise.

See I could do it too.

Its ok chief, you could pretend that the NBA has some moral high ground on other sports to make you feel better by pick pocketing which incidents to use in your argument.

http://nymag.com/daily/intelligencer/2011/04/kobe_bryant_fined_for_homophob.html

Damn I guess this means the NBA has a homophobic problem........ oh wait it does.

Hey guys, let's all detail the thread further and keep having pissing .matches because our sport is more popular than another!

Fucking pathetic.

doesn't surprise me that red_man would get worked up about this

dude couldn't even take a simple "hockey is irrelevant in america" comment without being totally offended
