Leaked Details Indicate Next-Generation Xbox Controller May Feature Capabilities Similar to DualSense. Will be Compatible With Next Xbox Console

According to a screenshot from an xCloud file shared by the Twitter/X account Red Better xCloud, Microsoft is allegedly developing a new controller with codenames such as Sebile_Delgado and Sebile_EV1B, hinting at compatibility with the next Xbox console.

The controller is said to feature modular design and improved haptics, akin to the DualSense, enhancing the gaming experience with advanced vibration feedback. Additionally, it will reportedly abandon replaceable batteries for an internal rechargeable battery and include a gesture-based "awake" function.

Back in 2021 Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer, praised the DualSense and suggested Microsoft might integrate similar features into future Xbox controllers.

While the controller could launch with the next-gen Xbox, it might also support the current Xbox Series X|S earlier, as indicated by its presence in xCloud files.

Looking forward to this. Apart from my 8-bitdo Ultimate, the Xbox controller has always been default on PC; for compatibility if anything. Hopefully this comes with paddles as standard.

Improved haptics and adaptive triggers would be nice additions as well.

If you have to turn off Haptics in a game, that's on the developer for poor implementation.

Returnal and Ratchet are the only 2 games with well implemented trigger effects. (and Astro's Playroom, but that's not a full game and actually there as a controller demo)

everything else is just awful. Spider-Man just makes them feel spongy for wherever reason... like who came up with that shit? and every shooter just adds some annoying rattle effect when you pull the trigger, which often doesn't work correctly as it doesn't always reset properly if you tap too fast.

this is sadly the fate of most controller features. there will be the launch titles that actually show them off, and then you'll get maybe 1 or 2 games after that initial launch period where they are used in ok-ish ways.

Sixaxis on PS3, the touchpad on PS4, Xbox Impulse triggers, HD rumble. the Wii U gamepad Screen being off the worst of all of them, as Nintendo themselves didn't even bother using it in Breath of the Wild 😬 literally just giving you a black screen... that's insane, especially after Wind Waker HD used it so well that the gamepad addition alone made the game way more enjoyable than the original, even if we ignore all the other gameplay improvements. on-the-fly item switching, ocean map on screen at all times... it was so well implemented... and then to just have a black screen in BOTW was truly shocking

The Dualsense Edge is the best controller on the market, and the Elite 2... is not. Microsoft playing catch up in this area in 2025 is indicative of Microsoft overall.

it doesn't have hall effect sticks, that alone instantly disqualifies it as "the best controller on the market"... let alone the sub-par dpad.

the Razer Wolverine V3 is better in every way, but even cheaper ones like some of the 8bitdo controllers are better.

in a world where 40€ controllers have hall effect sticks, it's hilarious that neither the Xbox Elite nor the Dualsense Edge have them, and makes both of them a joke in this day and age

Feels great in CP2077 to me. Even saw they created a mod for the pc version.

It's greatly implemented IMHO. I have never turned off a PS5 controller feature.
I really dislike the feeling of the adaptive triggers. The movement feels 'gritty' compared to the smoothness when it is turned off.
The rest are nice features, but I really don't notice them very much.
