Two costume figs in one series. Better be 5-6 in each box cuz those will be in high demand. I want an army of Penguin guys. They will go perfectly as 60's Penguin henchmen.

Imp costume has potential. Hoping for a devil-like imp. So many ways it can go.

Cyborg can be interesting. Hope it uses a new mould as there are two cyborg head moulds they already have from Ninjago and Super Hero Cyborg.

Ice queen is an interesting choice as LEGO already has Elsa license.

As always, have to wait for actual photos to make final judgements.

I lost money on the puppy bowl so decided to put together the Walking Dead set I had. This is the last I will post of them because I won't be getting anymore.

So the positive is the same with all these Mcfarlane building sets. They are made to look realistic. If you are interested in them you probably already know that and/or interested in the shows. That positive holds true, they do look realistic. And thats it for the positive.

Again I have qualms with the figs. Using the soft plastic they do and the inconsistent QC makes for bad joint fittings and miscut pegs. The pictures probably don't show well enough how small these figs are, they are about Lego Minifig size so those limbs are actually really small to fit that scale. I'm so afraid putting them together something is going to squish or break. Also there are QC issues with the bricks themselves. The clutch isn't right on some of them and they aren't perfectly measured like Lego pieces so you end up with gaps or plates that just don't alight right. Also the quality of the pieces just don't feel like they are going to stand the test of time. I had to move some pieces after placing them and they feel like they are going to snap when you are trying to lift them off. Thats not a good sign for them aging properly and will probably end up getting brittle.

Lastly the god awful instruction booklet. Jesus age christ whoever came up with the books need to be fired after being paddled and have their nose rubbed in it while yelling at them "NO! Bad instructions! No!' When you have realistic and slightly different colored pieces like this using a grey scale coloring scheme for every piece does not cut it. Also when they randomly decide to use a gold color for a piece for some reason it doesn't even match the piece color so you have no idea what the hell its talking about. You are better off taking the book as a guideline and just winging it to whatever looks good to you. I wouldn''t even dream of getting one of the bigger sets cause it would drive me crazy. Non numbered bags with Lego is doable because the instructions are good but bad instructions with no numbered bags is a disaster.

Oh I did forget one positive, the box smelled good when opening it. Don't know if was the paint fumes in the bags or what so take it as you will. Oh yea that was another QC issue, two of the bricks were stuck together as if the paint had been fresh and they dried next to each other.

Thanks for the review. I have been tempted to get one on sale because I'm a fan of the show and in pictures they look pretty good. But I think I will pass. Sounds like it would just make me wish I were building LEGO instead.

I enjoy the show and have no problem with gore and violence in my media, but those building sets (as well as the COD zombie ones) are a bit too gruesome for my tastes. I guess I'm not a fan of displaying zombies

Thanks for the review. I have been tempted to get one on sale because I'm a fan of the show and in pictures they look pretty good. But I think I will pass. Sounds like it would just make me wish I were building LEGO instead.

Yeah, and its not just the QC. It doesnt feel like Lego, too much cheating pieces. It feels more like youre assembling a diorama kit. I dont want to say there isnt a market for it because there probably is. Its certainly easier than assembling a plastic or resin model with glue and then painting it and much cheaper. It just feels different from the Lego experience and you are definitely getting these to display and may need super glue to take care of some gaps and the figs. Theres limited mocing potential unless you are going very specific like something from Fallout. I admit some of the pieces from this set would look great on a steampunk type airship but it would feel like cheating to me.

Best thing you can do is simply get rid off all your Lego. My address is .....

Try and limit yourself to one or two themes? I used to only get OT Star Wars. I now get anything that takes my fancy, but always within reason. I haven't gone down the modular route, as I know that would be financially dangerous! I'm still sticking with OT Star Wars, and won't branch off that with any other Star Wars line. I may get some Rebels sets in the future, but only ones that overlap with OT sets.

I'm always surprised at how little talk of Technic there is in here.

It didn't take long for me to run out of space to display Star Wars sets, so I think my next purchase is going to be a Technic set. I think I need to move away from the collecting/display aspect of Lego, and instead focus more on the build aspect.

Are there any Technic fans in here? Or is there a separate thread? I would love to get some recommendations as far as the most appealing Technic sets, specifically as it relates to cool mechanisms/functionality.

I love technic, the king at the moment is the big mad Mercedes truck but it's pretty expensive. The fire plane from 2015 or bulldozer from the year before are both good and a bit cheaper.

I never really liked technic. Sure, I'm interested in the mechanical side of it, but I don't like the building. My least favourite part of many 'normal' Lego sets is the technic skeleton some have (especially Star Wars stuff). It makes my fingers sore, and sometimes a technic pin is giving me a hard time to just CLICK when it need's to. Attaching something with more then one pin can be terrible when one clicks and the other doesn't feel like it.

I enjoy the occasional Technic set, too, for a nice change of pace when building. They also make for some good display models. I'm actually on a bit of a Technic kick lately. I built the new Fire Plane last month and then just built the huge Volvo L350F Wheel Loader last week and last night I started on the 24 Hours Race car that I got on AWD for 25% off. So far they all have been great builds. I still have a few big Technic sets in my backlog and am looking forward to some of the 2H sets that were just shown.

By definition I want anything that's Lego. What you need to learn is distinguishing between "that would be neat to have" and "oh my god I must have it or my life is incomplete". Basically I sort things in three categories:
* Won't bother unless it's basically for free (like, I would buy anything at 90% off for parts or gifts or even investment but that doesn't happen)
* Will wait for a sizable discount, around 40% or so. If I don't end up getting it, no big deal.
* Absolutely want, and will get ASAP at retail price since it's not worth waiting months for maybe saving 10% or so, or risk missing out if it's a super hot item.

Man, pre-bionicle as a kid I always wanted that slammer set. Mostly becuase the figures were badass looking (compared to the other figures made so far for technic) and the functionality of those things looked super fun for playing with friends.

That Porsche set and the big bucket excavator look incredible. I'm struggling but I'll have to choose 1.

I know people are in love with the size of the excavator but I feel like its going to be a quick burn for people. It takes up a lot of space, it doesn't really fit in with any type of display or figs and its just a weird thing to display.

There is no doubt it's going to need a big footprint to display it, but the same could be said for the Ferris wheel or some of the other UCS type sets. As far as the weirdness of it to display, I kind of think that also works for it. It is such an odd looking and unique set that I think between the size and what it actually is a model of, automatically will attract attention to know just what the hell it is. The fact that it comes with power functions makes it even more of a neat display piece. Plus I think it looks like a fascinating build just because it is such a strange looking machine that is not your every day road or construction vehicle like most of the rest of the larger technic sets are.

I really like the technic system. It's pretty geniously designed actually and can be used for so much. Without it Lego would be a lot less interesting, and capable of a lot less exciting functions as well. I do think a lot of technic sets are kind of boring since they mainly just focus on vehicles all the time.

"Alternative" systems (technic and buildable figures) seem to attract different fan bases. Most Lego fans don't seem to care for technic or Bionicle stuff, which makes sense as they're both very different than Lego. But I do think both are very well designed systems (for examble, the buildable figure bones are measured out in studs, both in length and width) and both fit into the Lego world just as much as a regular Lego brick and all their pieces can be used for some fantastic MOCS so its a shame the other two systems can be ignored so much from regular Lego fans.

Lego motors are so anemic and loud that I steer away from anything motorized if I can help it.

Oh god, this is me to a T. I'm dangerous browsing AWD at 4am with insomnia. When I wake up the next morning i'm like what the hell did I do frantically cancelling orders. Some times I don't catch them in time and thats what makes me short saving for the bigger sets. I'm fretting about several sets going oop right now and its causing me ulcers. I got the Slave One finally and i'm sure that was the next UCS set to retire, don't care about Sandcrawler at all. That gives me time on the Tie Fighter. Next is Tower Bridge which I keep going back and forth on but I just absolutely want one of the new sets next month either Batcave or GB Firehouse and I know i'm not going to be able to get both. I actually have some money saved (so far) so GB HQ is probably the most prudent while I have the money for it.

I can't believe how much they have kicked those knock off sets into overdrive and are now doing alot of bigger sets. They even have the new Star Wars sets for half the real Lego prices. I draw the line at copying current sets and available figs and won't partake in that. What is enticing though is they are doing OOP Batman sets like the Bat Tank and the really cool Bat Wing from years ago. I'm only human and for display purposes I gotta admit a $25 excellent Bat Wing is very tempting over the after market $300 one.

Easily the 911 GT3 RS for me. It looks great even before the final reveal and should make for a great display piece.

You need to become a dealer. Sell the stuff, then keep and use some of the stash for yourself.

I've seen those same Batman sets and have had the same struggle. The real issue will arise if/when these guys actually start creating their own sets, and they're actually awesome. I do not understand why they seem content simply copying Lego brick for brick. It seems like a missed opportunity to me. But yeah...that Batwing has been calling to me ever since I first laid eyes on it. I would not disassemble it, so it's not as though I would ever mix the parts with actual Lego. Plus, I've only seen parts for the tiny sets from the worst of the worst. Maybe the larger sets from the bigger manufacturers are markedly better, similar to the minifigs?

We read the same review then. I couldn't help but notice that the clear pieces are not cloudy like on all my little bits. It makes me think all the pieces would be better than what I have seen.

Yeah that's why im not a huge fan of the technic sets, i wish they could do something more unique like a robot or a windmill or whatever, lego mindstorms is on the right track but that's super expensive to get into

but the system itself is really great and can be used for a lot of different cool things
