So, the huge sale. They have SSS for half price, the Star Destroyer and Cantina for about 33% off, the Agents truck for around that much, the Bike Shop for about 40% off and various other things. I picked up Lonely Mountain for 33% off since it will probably be hard to find, and I was going to get a Bike Shop (or maybe two) as a parts pack. Then I asked the staff why Sea Cow wasn't on sale, and they offered to take 50% off.

So now I own a Sea Cow. At this price, it would be silly not to build it, then I can figure out what to do with it.

I might go back to get some more, but I can't carry much more than these two now anyway :).

You will love the Sea Cow and wonder why you were hesitant on it before. After you build it, I doubt you will want to get rid of it even though it looks different from other ships

Wow, those prices are astounding. A lot of those setd are nowadays 50% to 100% more than retail. A SSS for ca. 200 euro? That is about four times less than what they go for. Those are such beasts, too bad they were already OOP when I got into Lego. But probably for the better, where would one display such a masterpiece (with a 2 year old around)?

Can anyone tell me the height of the UCS sand crawler? Looking at some new display cases, and wondering if it would fit. I might treat myself to one on double vip points (or the slave 1, or both!)

SSS = Spaceship Spaceship Spaceship, not a Super Star... Sestroyer? I would have jumped on that like crazy though, even though I have nowhere to place it.

For now, I've spent roughly $500 today between the sale and other stuff, but all the bills are paid and maybe I can squeeze in something more. I guess I'll give the parents a chance at some deals and then get back there on Saturday or so and pick up any interesting stragglers.

Some friends with two daughters got the Dolphin Cruiser and the Heartlake City Mall. Someone will be happy, I bet.

The sale included all kinds of older stuff but also semi-new like the Ghost, the Darkseid set, Flying Phoenix Fire Temple and some others. They specifically didn't include the modulars, the Mini, the Simpsons buildings, the WV sets or Sydney Opera House. But maybe that was for the best or I would still be there trying to decide. I'm assuming "exclusive" sets wouldn't discount, but Sea Cow is sort of inbetween. And a shelf warmer.

They can't be serious about charging $90 for a 500 piece gas station, can they? Well, I know what I'll be holding off on until I can find it for at least 25% off.

City sets sell like crazy if they think they can get away with these ridiculous prices. It's like they are all licensed sets. Glad to see Creator is still good value.

They do, it's the $2.95. It contributes to the $75 needed for free shipping, just no VIP points. But i've just been making smaller purchases because it's easier to justify.

Ah OK I missed that. Psychological, it's hard for me to make an order less than $75 because I want to get that free shipping. In a way it's good because it limits the orders I place.

Have they ever given a reason for the sharp, and insane, increase of City set pricing or is it just "Screw you, because we can'

I imagine Lego is experimenting with the limits of their pricing. They know that people are willing to fork out the $$$ based on the craziness that goes on in the secondary market and would love to get some of that money in their pockets upfront.

The funny thing is, if they price new sets too high, people will balk at the price and won't buy them, which means they'll probably be rare when those sets get retired. When people realize the rarity of those sets, then the secondary market pricing will kick in, but Lego won't be seeing any of that money.

Look at these prices - CITY has no excuse.

41123 Foal's Washing Station; 77 pcs; $9.99/$12.99
41124 Heartlake Puppy Daycare; 286 pcs; $29.99/$39.99
41125 Horse Vet Trailer; 370 pcs; $39.99/$49.99
41126 Heartlake Riding Club; 575 pcs; $59.99/$74.99
41127 Amusement Park Arcade; 174 pcs; $14.99/$17.99
41128 Amusement Park Space Ride; 195 pcs; $19.99/$24.99
41129 Amusement Park Hot Dog Van; 243 pcs; $29.99/$39.99
41130 Amusement Park Roller Coaster; 1124 pcs; $99.99/$129.99
41131 Friends Advent Calendar; 218 pcs; $29.99/$39.99 (September)

42055 Bucket Wheel Excavator; 3929 pcs; $279.99/$329.99

That's cheaper than I thought it'd be, and Brickset say that's £179.99 which is an even better exchange rate than I expected if it's accurate! I'll probably buy the bloody thing for that.

Found this picture of the alternative build, it really sorts bricks?!

(Even if it's just sorting big and small bricks that's still pretty impressive.)

Chronicles of the Force details emerge

minfig is Unkar Plutt's Brute Thug... uhh yeah, thanks LEGO...

I'm a slave to LEGO SW, so yeah I'm buying but man, this is one boring minifigure, heh.

But, at least he compliments the upcoming Unkar Plutt minifigure nicely.

If you're interested, lock in the lowest price by pre-ordering on amazon

I can't even remember who Unkar Plutt is, save his thug LOL

Who is Unkar Plutt again?

Wasn't he an uncle on Beverly Hillbillies?

Good rule of thumb is that whichever is the oldest modular, that is the one to get first. So Detective's Office.

Star wars tax is killing me. Will get jakku, but i fear the euro price will be 70 or 80... Cannot justify that... Geeman amazon can be a solution (cheaper then belgian prices) or i could do s@h and let id deliver in Portugal, where we bought a place. Tends to be cheaper too

Why are the lackluster Lego City sets so expensive? If the builds were at least on Friends line Level I would understand some of this!
