Let's pretend that you have $20bn in the bank. What cancelled video game or dead IP are you reviving?

Lula, the sexy empire. Full on modern remake, with hundreds of custom scenes featuring all the top "actresses" with the guy that funded the game. Then, about 3 months before release those scenes would be "accidentally" lost and need to be refilmed. Rinse and repeat until the moneys gone then cancel the game.

RiQa: I would want a time machine, too, because I'm mainly interested in how this game releasing back in ~1999 would've impacted things moving forward.

I saw a single screenshot of this in Nintendo Power's E3 coverage, and always wondered what happened to it. Then last year, someone released beta build!

I even sent an email in ~2001 to a guy at GamePro who was known to answer every email about what happened to this game. And I vividly remember him replying, "I have no idea what you're talking about." 😂

SSX is coming back and im giving it to SloClap (SIFU and that soccer game) and they're getting a 200 million dollar budget to make the best sports game ever

Resident Evil Outbreak Files 1-3 for modern consoles
Fear Effect Inferno
The rest of Shenmue
Darkstalkers 4

But in all honesty I make really dumb decisions so I'd probably blow it all on Robotech Crystal Dreams for the Wii U.

These games I would greenlight a new entry with all that money, no question:

Skies of Arcadia (no-brainer, just do it already Sega).
Bully (Real surprised Rockstar hasn't done it already).
Banjo Kazooie (a proper sequel, none of this racing spin-off crap)
Sunset Overdrive (Similar to another game on this list, but still want a new entry).
L.A. Noire (would love to see what a sequel could do)
Jet Set Radio (yes Sega is doing a remake but I'm still adding it, afraid they'll screw it up as a GaaS nightmare)
Unreal Tournament (should have kept going after III)
Tribes (Vengeance being the last in the series? Far too long.)
Eternal Darkness (truly creative horror, craving another game like it),
Conker's Bad Fur Day (imagine all the new angles it could take over two decades later),

Black & White series of God Games on PC

Outside of giving them a remake/remaster/re-release treatment on modern hardware (and with VR support) I think there's a lot of potential for a new game that mixes the good aspects of both games (and their respective expansions) while pulling in recent tendencies from the sub-genres in the Strategy space that took off since

I would buy Falcom and have them make Trails Games with big budgets. Also have them make H-Games with big budgets using all thier characters from their games

Buy the Suikoden IP and get the original people who worked on the PS1/PS2 games to make a direct sequel to Suikoden III

Buy Xenogears and Xenosaga. With Xenogears make a full on AAA 3D Remake that actually is complete when it comes to the second part. With Xenosaga, Remake all three games but include all the cut contents that was suppose to be in the games since Xenosaga was supposed to be a 6 Game Saga

i just want to point out here that most of these games came out in like a 4 year period. Actually most of the games peope mentioned in this thread came out between like 1995 and 2005.

There used to be a time when all the games people mentioned here came out regularly. Now we have to have a Scrooge McDuck fantasy just to think about playing a new one.

Then people will tell me vidya is better than ever.

I would bring back Project Gotham Racing and fuse it with Driveclub, to make the most epic simcade-ish track and point to point racer there has ever been... Fuck open world racers, I'm getting tired of them.

An actual solid successor to SimCity4....would be nice. SimCity5 was a bad joke and Cities Skylines somehow fumbled it as well.

Also agree with:

LA Noire
Deus Ex
Watch Dogs
Dragon Age Origins
MGS6

I'm buying Square Enix, putting EVERYTHING on hold and ensuring that Tetsuya Nomura's Final Fantasy Versus XIII trilogy is made by him under his fucking terms this time around.

Resurrect the old Cyan Uru online multiplayer world. With VR modes built in but optional.
New islands content on a regular basis with community content and contests.

for reals, i'd probably use it to revive Megaman. just buy up all of Capcom's stocks and force them to make a bunch of new games in that franchise

but honestly, 20 billion... i'd rather start up a game studio of my own and make my own IP working as a game designer. I'd aspire to become the next Miyamoto. Game design needs more innovative and interesting ideas as opposed to reheating old IP
