Let's Talk About PlayStation VR: List of Upcoming Titles

Pretty disappointed that only Farpoint plans to be PS4 Pro ready for now on PS VR :-(

It was mentioned later on that Arkham VR would be a sharper experience as well (there were a few others rumoured a while back ).

Personally I'd say it's a good thing if few VR games take advantage of it at the moment.

The last thing you want is prospective PSVR purchasers thinking that they need to buy a PS4 Pro to get a half decent experience...as many might then skip it entirely or hold off buying it until after they have purchased a PRO (limiting early growth in the install base).

We already had that damaging story from EDGE saying NEO only exists because PSVR was going to be "truly awful" on a regular PS4. The more games that truly take advantage of the PRO..the more regular PS4 owners will start to think that story has some truth.

There's already a danger that people will now buy PS4 PRO instead of PSVR. Keep peddling standard PS4 VR games as inferior experiences compared to the PRO and it could cause many regular PS4 owners to skip it entirely.

The arrival of PS4 PRO is more more likely to damage PSVR sales than help IMO.

I've always said there was never gonna be major improvements to PSVR with PS4 Pro.

Considering these games have been in development for 3 years on standard PS4's.

I agree with you the less they talk about PSVR with PS4 Pro the better.

Nyko just revealed some interesting devices for PSVR that could help your daily VR life.

VR Anti-Nausea Wristband ($9.99)
nyko_vr_wristband-1024x768.png

The VR Anti-Nausea Wristband, according to Nyko, is designed to ‘ease or eliminate the negative effects of prolonged VR headwear use’. Equipped with an acupressure bead, the VR Anti-Nausea Wristband stimulates a key point on the interior of the wrist that may reduce common side effects of virtual reality (VR) like nausea, dizziness or headaches. In order to use, the player should position the wristband a three-finger width below the base of the palm to help prevent negative VR side effects or to potentially lessen them after a prolonged play session.

VR Boundary Safety System ($79.99)

nyko_vr_safety_system-1024x768.png

The second peripheral, the VR Boundary Safety System, is obviously inspired by the HTC Vive’s chaperone system for roomscale experiences. Despite the PlayStation VR being significantly more limited in tracking player movement than the HTC Vive, Nyko’s VR Boundary Safety System alerts the player before approaching furniture and other items in the room. The product includes four positional sensors and two wearable alert wristbands, which form a grid that sends alerts when the player approaches the user defined boundary: when nearing the edge of the playable area, the corresponding wristband will vibrate, alerting you before you cross the line.

Pretty cool ideas and love the support of 3rd party peripherals.

Cool. But I wonder if that first one really works. I may grab it depending on people's reaction when they try it at my place if I hear this works. I'm not too worried about nausea for myself though.

For the chaperone system, that's a bit expensive it seems. Don't want to see that CAD price.

Would be nice if it helps even a little for the people that are prone to be nauseous or get headaches. Will have to wait and see, but they are releasing soon :)

With all the games from september I was getting delayed and Phoenix Wright out today. My next gaming expense is PS VR! :D We're almost there!

Hey guys, Sang here.

So, I did my biweekly dev list check to see if I find any hidden PSVR games that haven't been announced by the devs themselves or haven't gotten attention and I really went all in.

I mean, I looked at press kits and old alpha version prototype realms of deep investigative...you get the point.

Anyway I managed to find 4 additional confirmed PSVR titles, lol (don't judge me).

So without further a do, I give you the evidence. Enjoy:

Thinks buying more servers can fix a bad patch
So is it a timed exclusive?

The exact words from them is "PSVR exclusive title at launch" and it will "launch in the first half of 2017".

They said they will reveal more in the coming days, so currently nobody know if its a timed exclusive, or a permanent one. But personally I feel they are implying a timed exclusive here, considering the wordings they used.

So I'm actually glad very little came out about psvr and the ps4 pro this week...I can't afford both (and a new tv and av receiver) but really want psvr and for it to work well.

My question was what do we actually expect to be improved by the pro, in terms of VR?

The resolution of the screen is sub-1080p so you dont need a resolution bump, so I was thinking you could increase framerate, but we already have mandatory 60fps for the base ps4, so you'd at best be replacing asyncronous time warp with native higher rates. Am I missing anything?

I had fun when I got to demo it (I played the pack in game and Until Dawn, because Until Dawn was my GOTY). Both were good, but not good enough to warrant $700+ for the gear.

It's just too expensive.

The resolution is exactly 1080p, not sub, just split for the two eyes. The Pro can do a number of possible improvements:
  • increase the frame rate, e.g. from 60 (reprojected to 120) to 90 fps natively
  • increase the internal frame buffer, then downsample to actual display - this gives you much more crispness than you might think, it is the best anti aliasing solution
  • simply render more detailed worlds
What will actually happen differs from title to title, and while the original PS4 will be enough to have fun with PS VR, the Pro will surely give you better visual quality in most if not all titles

Woo! More horror!

I'm all excited for VR horror!

I bet I won't even last 5 minutes in those games... :(

Thanks. I guess psvr titles will fall into the same bracket as 1080p improvements on future games-not mandatory to have an improvement for pro and it's up to each developer to implement any improvements.

AFAIK after October it is mandatory to have adjustments for the Pro. So basically all PS VR titles will.

It is mandatory to have something for PS4 Pro, up to the developers to see what it is.

Most dev won't be able to make their games 90FPS native if there is too much going on. So just expect most to have crispier texturas like Farpoint shown at the PS Meeting.

I do however want to see if m0dus can get VEV to run at native 120FPS on PS4P it already runs 90FPS on PS4 which is a magnificent achivement. Go for it.

Yes. I think this is correct.

One thing I've realised about playing VR games on my Rift is that super detailed worlds are not required and given the relatively low resolution of these devices aren't desirable.
Simplified worlds work a lot better in VR.

I feel devs should direct their efforts to increase the frame rates and implement higher quality AA. It makes a huge difference.

The easiest Pro upgrade for any game will probably be rendering it in 4K using checkerboard. That means downsampling for great anti-aliasing and crispness, which is especially fine with VR.

I'd be on board with that. When I think of VR stuff I want to see, I'm not thinking of the super detailed stuff, but of the 90s "vr is the future" stuff. Also I want the Internet in VR from Futurama to be a thing.

I finally got my hands on PSVR !

Just for 5 minutes but here is my first experience with PSVR :

The game

I tried the London Heist demo and it was just the car part of it, your in a car and you shoot at bikes and cars.

First of all, yes, graphically it somewhere between PS2 and PS3. But, holy sh** it was so amazing ! Your there, and it's amazing. Even if the game looks a lot worse than what we use to know nowadays, you totally forget that. Your in the game and even if this game is from 10 years ago, your in it !!

During this short demo, I grabbed a soda can, I put the warning light on, I looked inside a bag, I punch the windshield to help the driver, I looked through the window of the car in order to look behind us. I was there guys ! And I can't wait to continue the Heist !

The headset

Yes, it's light, and when you play, you don't notice it anymore. The screendoor effect is here, but far less than on oculus DK2 (sorry I didn't try Oculus CV and Vive). Talking about screendoor effect, you see it when your in menus, but when you play, you don't notice it.

That's how I remember it. When things are calm, you notice it, but once things are moving, it kinds of disappear.

And yeah, Heist demo is my only VR experience so far and it blowed my mind how much fun something that looked so dull looking was once you actually experience actually being "there"..

I'm currently considering getting a new PC and Rift or Vive. At the same time, I could go for PSVR and PS4 Pro, despite owning a PS4. There's a lack of talk about PSVR + PS4 Pro. Do you think that's not to prevent early adopters from getting the PSVR? Do you expect more concrete information on PS4 Pro and PSVR closer to the launch of PS4 Pro?

Rainer70

I'm not. I want to "see" and understand the difference between PS4 and PS4pro within PSVR.

I'm still debating myself about it. Been looking forward to experiencing PSVR (even have 2 Moves from PS3 era ready to go in their charging dock), but Idk if I wanna just dive in with the best experience first (PS4P).

Is there any chance of Elite Dangerous coming to PSVR? I think it came out on Xbox One last October so I assume any time exclusivity it might have had is reaching its end?

Anyone remember that one social VR multiplayer thing that got demo'd earlier this year? I remember there was like a 40 minute off screen video of it. The art style was really simple but it was funny when they'd change facial expressions and it had different hand gestures. They were also using moves

edit: Found it

I think that they've confirmed that it will come to PS4, but not when. There's no news on PSVR support.

I'm a bit baffled why they have been so quiet about a PS4 version. It's a big market and the costs of porting from Xbox One can't be that high.

Yeah, it looks great in the YouTube videos/walkthroughs I've seen of people trying it in VR. I really hope they do give us a PSVR version.

Happy Manager got it's first look revealed today, It's a JP PSVR game ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Saved in Japan? :p

Nice ;)

You could be his new assistant, watching things unfold from right beside him, giving him evidence and hints

And you could actually walk around the investigation scenes and pick things up

Yeah, it could be quite awesome.

Yup, I'm expecting to see a lot more 90fps titles on Pro and improved IQ across the board thanks to down sampling.

For the more stylised games I'm even hopeful we'll see a few more 120fps native titles.

Exciting times whichever way you cut it, and I don't believe Pro will stop people buying PSVR. They'll either be like me and be getting both ASAP or will get one, then the other at a later date.

I've just noticed that Arkham VR is up for order for £40-50 at retail stores, yet only £16 digital on the PS Store.
Mis-price? Or am I missing something here?

Wow Don't knock twice looks really cool.

Before googling just now I didnt realize PSVR does room scale, thats really cool and like the video at the dont knock site could be a way to bring in people that dont normally play games (and get frustrated trying to use a controller)

Yeah, a lot of people seems to have forgotten that they said PS VR could do some form of room scale.

How it works in practice though, I have no clue. It's definitely not as functional compared to the Vive.

The headset has lights on the back so it can track you when you're turned around. But probably not your controllers.

I've noticed that....it's clearly supposed to be priced the same as the other budget PSVR titles...but so far everything seems to be placeholder for the physical copy.

I'm starting to wonder if we're actually getting a physical retail version in the UK/Europe.

The only non place-holder versions of Arkham VR I have seen online are purely for the download code. Nobody is currently listing it with a final box art in any online store in the UK/Europe that I have seen ...while VR World's, Hustle Kings, Until Dawn: Rush of Blood,Super Stardust Ultra VR and more..have had box arts for weeks. Very odd.

Went to Best Buy the other day and tried the PSVR. That thing is crazy comfortable and I chose to play Super Hyper Cube. That game is really neat. I really hope it comes to other platforms as I already have Rift and Vive and wasn't planning to buy PSVR.

If you want #ADR1FT on #PSVR tell @505_Games and @yosp!

Sounds like they'd like to do a PSVR version but the publisher didn't want to. Get to retweetin'

It seems odd that they aren't doing this automatically - PSVR is most likely going to be the biggest vr platform, the game is already running on ps4 and they've already got a vr version made. They'd get a lot more potential customers for what appears to be very little work...

I saw an Eve: Gunjack trailer for PSVR yesterday on YouTube, but now I can't find it. It was on one of the official PS subs, either PlayStation or PlayStation EU.

I was hoping to link to it, but can't find it in my history, which is pretty weird.

Anyway, it looked OK; not the same production quality as Valkyrie, far more like arcady- scores popping up over defeated enemies, power-ups, etc.

If I can find it again I'll post a link, unless the whole think was some kind of gin-induced fever dream, which is always a possibility.

I saw the trailer too, it got taken down because they uploaded too early me thinks.

Weren't people saying the VR for this game was nauseating?

I'd like to say I'm interested. (As I was when I first heard about this and thought it was getting PS VR...) But if it's gonna be a puke-fest.. What's the point?

I thought this was already confirmed for PSVR, dang.

Also i just thought the VR was super intense. Nauseating for people who would feel sick when floating in space a couple hundred km above earth.
