They did harass him yes, but I read an article which said it's not clear if he committed suicide.

I think in this case is completely aceptable in order to raise awareness precisely because people are not very aware of what happened, prosecuting someone for being gay is appalling and should be denounced at every opportunity, we also remember Oscar Wilde but we don't ignore how awful he was treated.

And to nominate another gay, Oscar Wilde, the guy was so freaking brilliant. Turing is still beyond special to me, Wilde was great but when you think about it most famous gay people come from art fields, literature, acting, maybe reporting, but a scientist? The fact that the freaking father of computer science was also gay is such a big thing for any gay nerd kid out there, like I was

I'm kind scared something fucked up happened. Is it even safe to breathe in any of this gas? I literally just woke up and have to take a shower and get ready for work, but I'm scared to leave my bedroom (which hasn't been affected since the window is open).

Maybe it because I live in the UK but I've never felt Turing was ignored - certainly when doing my computer science degree lecturers were very clear that it all started with him. The treatment he suffered and his death was appalling but there was always a clear acknowledgment, even 15 years ago when I was at uni, that it was wrong and he was a once in a lifetime genius.

Plus in sci fi literature from across the world 'Turing tests' and 'Turing AI' feature heavily - his legacy around that seems assured.

Wow, you're one of the lucky ones. One time I was at the gym with some of my friends and we were all showering together (no homo) and I saw that one of them had a small penis.
