I never meet with my mother's side of the family since I live quite far from them, and even if I don't have any issues with them the truth is I don't like them a lot On the other hand I enjoy meeting with my father's side of the family, it's much smaller and most of us get along. About my family, I see my father's family a lot. I don't know how the hell they noticed that we don't go to the church anymore but they are suspecting we became protestants (lol). They have reunions once a year, but I don't want to go to the next one because it will be like:

Them: Btw, follow god, you should go to the church again or you will suffer through life. Be thankful for all that god has given you, etc. Your mother left you those religious principles and you have to follow it, etc.
I don't know why they have to talk about my mother, just let her rest in peace, damn!
And my mother's family is even worse. They are very conservative and supersticious, me and my sister don't belong there. Unfortunately, I live next to my grandmother and she gets very sad because we don't visit her, when she definitly has favoriticisms in my family and she always ssays stupid things about my father and she is always reminding me that my mother is dead. Ugh.
I fear the day when I'm in my middle 20's because they will start noticing that I haven't had a girlfriend. *Sighs*

Well, it's just that we're so different from each other, it doesn't feel like a family at all. It just feels like a bunch of people being forced to be in one place, I don't talk to any of my cousins anymore, except one. My Aunts and Uncles are assholes from both sides; My oldest Aunt is always a bitch to my Mom when they're working but at Family parties she pretends like she is very nice and all and it just pisses me off, the other one from my Mother's side just talks about her Grandchildren all the time and complains about her other Children. My Uncles from my Dad's side have always left everything on my Dad's shoulders, even when my Grandmother died in February they left almost everything to him, and his Sister has always had a thing against us up until when my Grandma died.Oh no
I also don't have any Grandparents left, so what's the point? I'd rather we just eat Turkey in our house.

Yeah same thing, sometimes with plum sauce.
It is more like a food to kill your hunger at midnight to be honest, since Christmas in Colombia means everyone stays up to open presents at midnight, the traditional christmas food is natillas or buñuelos, but the portions of those are small and are more like desserts, you can change the turkey for something else and no one would care, but it has to have at least natilla and buñuelos as accompaniment. Tamales are big in Christmas too (and any other time to be honest) but it's more of a breakfast dish.

We never meet with extended family on Thanksgiving (or Christmas or any other holiday). It's usually just me, my parents, and my sister and her husband. I actually wouldn't mind hanging out with aunts, uncles, etc. but we all live so far apart (and most of them don't get along with each other anyway) which makes it impractical.
