Life is alright! 2015 is already better than the trash that was 2014 (what an awful year). I guess I'm #LivingForLove since I have no room for negativity anymore. You gotta post when you release your EP, I'm in dire need of some quality male vocals tbh! <3
Y'know THAT part of Donegal that still doesn't have much in the way of, uh, civilisation? That part. Specifically, Burtonport. I never really lived there, though. Parents moved to Belfast shortly after I was born. Still, Donegal's a lovely place! Especially the northernmost peninsula, in which you can spend entire holidays on it alone. It's quite beautiful. And there is a pub every yard.
That's what happens when one is thinking with one's dick I suppose. XD At least I practice what I preach, my Tumblr feed is a human rainbow!
A blog of many colours, shapes, and sizes? Sounds good~ To be honest, I DO have preferences for how attractive people are... But there are so many exceptions for people who otherwise don't fit my preferences. So yeah, I have my preferences, but I rarely ever act on them.

Summer can be quite nice, yeah. Perfect for drinking on a boat and doing dumb shit on a beach, like I do with friends each year, ha. Fall is really my season, though. Cool, temperate weather with a wide variety of colors. I have a picture in my head of walking hand in hand with someone as the leaves fall above us along a desolate lane, ha. I guess fall is just a season that always feels right.
Summer is just great for lazing around in the park, or swimming in the sea and as I already wrote, feeling the sun and the wind on your skin as you stroll through the inner city or some beach.
Fall is a magical season for wandering in the mountains and woods, for sitting inside the cafe and reading a book.
Going hand in hand with someone with your feet sweeping through the colourful fallen leaves sounds really romantic.
Jeans do look good too, it's just not my favourite kind of legwear. It makes me sweat whatever the season. I wear shorts indoors as well when it's Winter, just because I don't like to cover my legs.
I do squats with the bar thingy that you can add weight to it. I forgot what they're called. I wanna do 180 lbs squats by summer, hopefully. I'm slowly getting there...
I also don't really have a strong sense of "visualizing" things in my mind. I think this is also why I have some trouble with Go; I can't visualize the stones on the board if they aren't there. This has never affected my ability to recall information in a book, though.
Anthony C. Yu's translation is the one I'm going to read. It was first published in 1983, and was recently revised for a 2012 release. I have the first two volumes right now.
I've read Three Kingdoms, which was ~1400 pages, and The Story of the Stone, which was about 2550 pages, across five volumes. Journey to the West is ~1700 pages in this edition, across four volumes.
I've tried to respond to this multiple times and my browser has crashed every single time so I'm going to keep it way shorter than it had been in case it crashes once again.
I can definitely agree with their being merit in having them as personal, private mementos, but I think in many cases, particularly if it's public, there's a fear that others will discover them and that it will reflect upon whoever made the post in the present, despite it being made in a transitionary period wherein one quickly grows and develops as a person. Obviously this fear is not particularly rational unless you're in the public spotlight, and the deduction that it reflects the individual in the present rather than it simply reflecting on the individual at the time when the post was made (even if it may hint at remnant beliefs that are held) is a flaw on the reader's part, but I think (admittedly I would have to research it) that most would enjoy having past interactions collected to appreciate/chart how they have developed into who they are, this development being public can make many uncomfortable.
Well you've suggested that at a good time as I was ordering a bunch of Livescribe Notepads from Amazon anyway so I tossed that in with them to qualify for free delivery. I'll definitely check it out but I'm pretty busy this semester so it will probably be awhile before I get through it; thanks for the recommendation. I find it interesting that it's not impacted you're ability to recall information. Would you tend to be a visual, auditory, or kinesthetic learner in general? I can very much empathise with the inability to visualise many moves in advance in relation to "Go" though
Oh wow, well, at least it's not too mammoth a tale .in comparison to some other works you've read. I had been looking up some of the translations of it while searching for information about the book and I hadn't realised that Yu had so recently completed a revised translation. From what I've seen, Brenner's and his seem to be the best (with it ultimately being down to preference as to which one prefers), so perhaps the recent revision pushes it above Brenner's. Regardless, it certainly seems like very little will be lost in the addition of the two volumes you have.
EDIT: Also, definitely in agreement that one's face is the most important quality in terms of attractiveness.
Yes! And I say this as a pale ass white Irish guy.
As a community that apparently celebrates diversity, I have found that the gay subculture can be just as racist, shaming and bigoted as any other community BUT I do think in general my gay friends are all more educated on social issues having had to deal with such issues themselves, and thus are more accepting. There are ignorant people in all communities.
I find all kinds of men attractive, let me be clear that I'm not hating on white, cut or hairless gay guys - my issue like you is with the fact that this 'ideal' is perpetuated everywhere and it's interesting to me to confront that and subject it to scrutiny.
My partner is mixed race and he has helped to educate me further on this subject. We have discussed how stupid and offensive it is that so much gay porn with black or mixed race guys in it is framed as 'thug porn'. Of the big masculine black man showing it to the 'white faggot'. Black men are fetishised for having larger dicks on average - it's next to impossible to find a picture of an average looking black man on Tumblr, but an average looking white guy is easy to find.
Finding a picture of an uncut flaccid black guy on Tumblr is like gold dust XD
Gay friends have shown me advertisements for underwear that feature 'hot guys' and when I watched them all the guys looked the same - white, mid-20's-30's, muscular but not too built, hairless body with short or spiky fair hair gyrating to shit dance music. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure in person I would be drooling over any one of these models (with a cute face ) but when you're presented with such a blatant display of how homogenised some ideals of attraction are, I can't help but yawn. Of three videos I was shown, one video had a token black guy who got barely any screen time.
And I agree dude, don't even get me started on casual racism among gay men. Fucking lmao at some of these bitches.
The standard for beauty in the gay community be it marketing or porn tends to lean more to white guys in general. From the chiseled college hunks to bears and all in between. For being such a ridiculed group we definitely have a way of leaving out our own members based on race and stereotyping. There are so many beautiful men from different nationalities in the world. I'm just saying a little variety wouldn't hurt.

Thumbs down for me, which is probably weird because I do like body hair and to see one without the other is pretty uncommon these days. Also kind of frustrated by invasive 'beard culture' where anyone without a bushy thicket hanging off yer face is marginalized as less of a man.
I'm really appreciating the conversation on Diversity/ acceptance, and racism in the gay community. Its easily one of the most important things that need to be addressed (alongside transphobia and domestic violence just to name a few). We all know people will have preferences but when people exclude certain types of people because of race especially, or bodies, age etc you have to wonder where that thought process is coming from. How can people so easily limit their perspective whether they're aware of it or not, that you cant see under represented bodies in media can be beautiful.
Going back into the discussion of Photoshop our advertisement and entertainment industry encourages these images more in the most warped and twisted ways possibly that creates personal damaging image standards for ourselves and expectations of image for other types of people. We think that what we like are independent of media influence but in reality that is not true at all and thats one thing that people might need to own up to to undo personal damage on their own ideas of body image( of course this differs for many people as many people deal with body image differently). We also need to encourage not only more diversity, people of color, different sizes and trans bodies, but we also need to keep sending these industries messages that there is a reason why we need to have these bodies visible.
One of the friends I've made this year who is queer identifying was talking about these topics while at school and we were saying how incredibly liberating it is to find so many types of races and bodies so attractive. Black and brown bodies are so beautiful just as much as lighter and pale people are as well, Smaller framed to larger bodies and trans bodies. There is so much beauty in people and that needs to be celebrated, and there is just so much more to our image it disrupts how we truly value people as a whole when that alone still is the center of discussion. There is still so much to talk about
Don't love them but don't hate them either, so I'm indifferent to them. I don't know, I'm a face guy as well, but I'm almost always attracted to a clean shave more often than not.
The article's focus on possibility models also brings up another concern of mine which is connected to the current paradigm of male attractiveness, particularly gay male attractiveness - how overwhelmingly white it is, even compared to the beauty standards of the culture at large. As a kid, I honestly thought I my lack of circumcision was a deformity based on the overwhelmingly white Americans who constitute the most visible percentage of porn models, and reconciling my amount of body hair with the predominantly shaved / waxed ideal was also difficult. It was almost entirely subconscious, but having my only frame of reference for queerness and acceptable objects of desire thereof conform to such a restrictive standard did end up having an alienating, othering effect. And the standard hasn't really gotten any more diverse at all - the mainstream media's shorthand for any docile non-straight person is still the middle-class white American gay male. Though that's only relating to its reflection in media - the broader topic of racism among gay men could fill many more walls of text than would be accepted here.
I can relate. When I was younger I thought my penis looks weird, unnatural, because professional porn/erotic videos and pictures with models who have uncircumcised penises are really rare on Internet. Add to that their almost fully shaved body (including bottom regions) and then you start wondering: do I look like a freak?

The more I think about it the more I feel like the people who say "no this no that" are just so helplessly horny that they'd rather secure some D as soon as possible rather than take into account that attractiveness has nothing to do with these stats they're displaying. If they want to fuck or get fucked immediately they'd prefer to just create criterion that they know would please them in the shallowest sense, as in someone with muscle or someone whose race isn't too far off from theirs. I can never understand how someone can be so desperate for cock that they set these standards publicly, but the funniest thing about it (and the reason I dissect this so much) is that I get messages ALL THE TIME from people who are like "black only" or "bottoms only" and they know I don't fit the bill. So it's almost just this mirage of a person they've presented as the superficial "ideal candidate" for sex but in actuality they're probably not that prejudiced. Though I do think a good sum of those people ARE racists, and there's no excuse for saying shit like that on Grindr regardless of what the context is. But getting to the center of it, I can see that there's an inconsistency between this fucked up shit they present and how they actually act.
Beards are like bacon. They're great and they belong on many dishes... Er, people. But there's such thing as too much (long, wizard beards = nope) and the Internet is pretty annoying about them.

I'm someone who got circumcised at the age of 16, so I've gotten to sort of experience having both. I also remember feeling really insecure about it when I was younger :/
Keep it. I've grown mine out since November and it's pretty full but I love it. I've been received differently by certain types of guys too I've noticed, ie
Summer is just great for lazing around in the park, or swimming in the sea and as I already wrote, feeling the sun and the wind on your skin as you stroll through the inner city or some beach.

That's true, summer weather is beach season, and though I don't really go often, it's when cute guys in swimwear come out, ha.
Can't dethrone fall for me though. Like you say, it's good wandering weather, and I do rather like to do that when I can. And hey, curling up in a comfy chair with cocoa or coffee and a book, let me say, that's prettttty good.
Ha, yeah it does. As cynical as I am, I guess I'm still a romantic at heart.
Jeans do look good too, it's just not my favourite kind of leg wear. It makes me sweat whatever the season. I wear shorts indoors as well when it's Winter, just because I don't like to cover my legs.
And don't say that, I'm sure they look fine.
But sandals look good on everyone, even if you combine them with Jeans. Plus your feet won't get sweaty.

I actually have my love for hiking from fantasy novels by the way (just mentioning it because I'm watching the Hobbit for the first time and it fits)
Wandering through the forests where everything seems so untouched by humankind, it's quite nice.
Oh, even the greatest cynic can't say with a straight face that he dislikes the idea of such a harmonic way to spend a day. And even if you are on your own (which you never are, there is life in everything), it's still a rather enjoyable thing to do.
Well, if you like it that way better, I won't disagree with you. It's a matter of taste, anyway.
They are nice to wear anywhere, I can go for miles with just my Flip-Flops in the Summer season. But as I said already, it's a matter of taste and in what you feel the most comfortable with.
Drank a White Russian just now, so it could be that this doesn't make all that much sense.

Thats really funny and sad when you think about it as you say too lol. You would think it woudnt matter as much for some people as long as you'd get fucked, but thats not exactly the case for some.

It looks really good for roughly a month of growth.
It's just a shame we cant tell as much with such a small picture lol
and its so interesting that you've gotten different reception, yet i don't think that would be to uncommon for a lot of guys sadly especially since beards are "in" again now.

Beards, like body hair, can be attractive or repulsive depending on the person for me. I like to have stubble, but I don't like how I look with a full-on beard.
I like my own beard but I tend to not like beards on other guys. I wont shave mine all the way off tho as people seem to like my look a lot with it and I do as well

Love leg day! My trainer told me you can get pretty jacked off of it alone. Was it Elliot? His youtube videos are helpful and funny.
Pro beards. I especially like them on older guys. They add that extra little something.
Ugh, I was just talking about this on the other page. So bummed mine doesn't come in well, but I find them incredibly hot as long as they aren't Gandalf-tier beards. This is the shit I have to put up with on my cheek (this is long since shaved, by the way):

Well from your experience, have you been outright rejected by someone on these apps for not fitting their racial criteria, or have you seen people actually confront others with that mentality at least? Coz I've never been told "sorry not into ____" as a response to whatever opener I message them. I'm wondering if people have endured some horror stories. lol

Lol I can post a before and after selfie when I get the time (the avvy pic was taken right after a trim I think), but yeah my facial hair is really coarse so it starts to look pretty full in no time. I have to trim it below the neck line though or I'll start to look homeless.
Yeah, beards are definitely in right now, especially here in Austin.

No, I've never used any of those types of apps before, But yeah i have seen people and friends being on the other side of messages like that. The closest things i've gotten were some forms of "back handed" complements by both guys and women in the past like "you're cute for a black guy/skinny guy" and racially things like "you're one of the good ones, you speak well" things that play off of that same i'm trying to complement you but its coming from a place where i see you as an exemption of your general population that i would normally stereotype you by.
