Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII Opening Cinematic

*O*

Looks even better in HD. Based Visual Works!

I literally cant wait to play this. Also, I really like Lumina's voice.

They did the same thing in XIII-2. In the beginning all of a sudden Light is in Valhalla fighting Caius, and that was more or less explained by her near the end of the game. But in this game you play as her throughout the game, so some if these things could be explained earlier.
But Serah conected the dots after the openinc cinema of XIII-2, and it at least somewhat made sense within the story. This though...I'm completely lost.

I'll still get it, but right now it just looks confusing.

ikr

It's really cute, and it got this mischievous vibe to it that totally put moe shivers down me spine.

:lol

Esura pls, stop spinning my posts into this moe shit.
:P

She does have this suspicious voice of someone that sounds cute but is devious inside though. And the voice is pretty spot on in this case.

After being immersed in the visceral Lightning hatred that passes for conversation in most FF13-themed threads, I have decided that I am going to buy this day one and enjoy it like I know I will. Screw the haters.

The XIII trilogy may end, but it goes without saying that the cycle will continue. Eventually we'll get comments like those during our years of "the World of the Versus Epic". Can't wait.

Not when XV has actual fans that want the game. Also with no Toriyama at the helm but Lord Nomura.

All I care about is the games music. I loved the Oerba theme in XIII-2 that shit was really good. Let not forget the Hysteria Crux music "Time and Space". The story in these games are like soap operas it is the story the writer decided to tell at that instance and then yur on to a new one.And why isn't this on Wii U as well. Put the map on the wiipad call it a day.

Dialog has improved a bit at least but the usual suspects won't care.

Lol. Come on... For just awhile, can a XIII thread include divergent opinions without deteriorating to this? Stop seeing every piece of XIII news in the context of what people who don't agree with you will think of it.

Anyway, the opening scene was alright. The very beginning gave me a VII vibe with the understated music and the atmosphere of the city. I found the beat of the dialogue kind of off. Snow and Lightning have pretty clumsy interaction, as usual, and the latter's voice acting unfortunately doesn't help. I actually thought Lumina was the best part of the scene, surprisingly.

C'est fini. Finally. I'm pretty sure I'm going to enjoy this entry.

Only part that could be answered right now is "how did we get here?" FFXIII-2 ending. Our plucky young duo failed and chaos seeped through the world, Serah died, and Lightning went into a crystal stasis. What we are seeing is of course the aftermath of the fantasy equivalent of the apocalypse. Everything else I feel will be answered in time in game.

Thanks for the refresher! Well yep. This game has turned around for me. It's a rerun of leftover assets with some new, but it'll be enjoyable finally seeing this trilogy end for good (please end for good).

Considering that Nomura is working on XV, well, we haven't seen anything yet in terms of convolution.

I can't wait for Ali Hillis to voice Stella in XV.

That would be nice. Chances of it is slim though. I don't think Square has ever repeated the same voice actors for important roles in different FFs before.

will Mog the cute moogle bein this game? Lightning needs a cute sidekick.

There is this gif of a bunch of adorable Moogles taking Lightning's enhanced bosoms out for a test drive.

JP VA for Aerith, Lightning is Maaya.

JP VA for Hope Estheim and Ace of Type 0 is the same.

John Dimaggio voices GILGAMESH, Wakka.

JP VA for Cloud Strife, Kurasame Susaya is the same.

>:U

Magius pls.

Also expect JYB and Yuri Lowenthal to be in very predictable roles. And again a lack of Cam Clarke.

Hopefully it would actually be a good, happy ending for Lightning. I remember during pre-release stuff for FFXIII-2 Toriyama said Lightning was supposed to have a happy ending and we got trolled hard...

I mean, the FFXIII world and it's people has hit rock bottom...can only go up from here.

At the very least, Hillis's performances as Burroughs in SMT4 and Presa in Tales of Xillia show that the woman can definitely act if she has a halfway comprehensible script.

Funny, I was just about to mention her role as Presa. While I don't think that Xillia had a better script in any way than any of the XIII games, I DO think a character like Presa is a good fit for Hillis' voice.

Something about her voice screams seductive antagonist. It just, does.

Also I saw a screen shot of Light using a moogle to distract enemies.

Ok, this is going to be awesome! I wish she could take a Moogle into battle and the Moogle can dress up too and you can name it.

Ah, it seems they do recycle for JP FFs though.

I'm not really counting voicing GILGAMESH as a repeat though. He probably did it for free considering how many voiced lines he actually has. :P

This games story sure went places. I mean, it wasn't grounded to begin with, but Lightning Returns seems to reach the stratosphere.

Lightning aside, I'm more fond of her voice when she is voicing characters like Palutena or Liara T'soni personally. But her Presa voice is hot though, reminded me of Laura Bailey's FMA Lust.

If there is someone from XIII that I can see repeating her work in XV as Stella is Laura Bailey. I can't see her having a deeper voice like Ali's, she will probably be on the pitchy side imo.

I swear I said this in another thread before and got laughed out...

But I agree. Stella looks like a Laura Bailey character.

It looks pretty but I've got no idea what I just saw. I haven't played the FFXIII series at all yet but I was thinking of checking out LR as I quite like the gameplay that I've seen, but watching this reminds me that it will probably ultimately just piss me off.

She's pretty good as Lady Palutena.

I keep reminding myself that I need to play that game one of these days.

Part of that is voice direction as well.

I wouldn't doubt it. Although, SE for some reason seems to have the biggest problem with voice direction in almost every localization they had a major hand in as of late (excluding FFXII). Bad script, bad delivery, and super awkward mid-sentence pauses rule the day in SE localizations. At worst, we have cases like Yuna in Dissidia which is so frustrating to listen to because of frequent mid-sentence pauses where no English speaking human being would ever talk like that.

She just sounds so goofy when trying to do super serious roles.

It's more deja vu than anything else. In case point...

I thought it was a cool idea. But I also knew it would create the usual stir from the usual suspects and I was not mistaken.
Please oh please let this topic stay on topic. The usual suspects haven't come around yet....
