Nomura mentioned there will be less CG ,
having a more seamless FF wouldn't be bad.
Personally I'm in it for the gameplay. Lightning Returns looks like it has a really cool battle system. That's what I'm excited for the most. That, and the open world stuff. The story seems goofy so you'll probably just ignore it.
I doubt she'd use her Serah voice for Stella. LB got ridiculous range.

When I found out she was both Serah and Helena in RE6 I couldn't believe it was the same person. She's great.

Also, it looks like Snow is some kind of corrupt ruler now, in this world? Has there been any detail about that? I know that this is some kind of different world/alternate reality thing at least. Kind of makes sense after XIII-2.

Snow is actually supposed to be a benevolent ruler, however he feels guilt for Serah's death which is why the shift in his demeanor. He seemingly has a slight death wish as well.

Yeah, she also voiced Lust in Full Metal Alchemist. She's really good, but her high pitched, cutesy voiced roles are her more popular ones (and my personal favs) so I think people hear more of those than her other ones.

Most FF XIII fans are forced perpetually to be on the defensive. Of course, the post is a tad flamebait-y but you gotta understand. With every XIII thread, there are always haters that appear from the woodworks.
Not that I'm condoning this behavior though.

I'd rather discuss the fact on why the game has a 13 day limitation because that's the maximum data a Oracle Drive is capable of recording. But that's silly.

Anyway, the dialogue seemed closer to XIII level rather than XIII-2, though we'll see if that holds. Definitely helps that Lightning isn't doing her best impression of a Warrior Poet and consistently failing at it (I'm sorry, but not only was that dialogue turned up to 11 in terms of Purple Prose... Hillis can't narrate as Lightning to save her life). Also helps that there was no utterance of the words "paradox", "time travel", "time gate", etc.
Secret plot twist revealed?
Yeah, XIII-2's dialogue was mostly fluff with words like "paradox" thrown around left and right. Hopefully Lightning Returns won't be like that.

I'm a Lightning fan (at least of her XIII and Dissidia appearances), I know all about how GAF can be about certain subjects. However, rather than leaving salty drive by posts, I choose to ignore it and have conversations where I can.

About the oracle drive... Is it really? In XIII-2 on those ruins where you first heard about all the Yeul's that existed and all the seeressess (what the hell were their names again? lol) didn't they find an oracle drive that has been "recording" time for a long time though? Or was that a static image of the past? I was really under the impression that it recorded the full time line to justify the events that occurred or something like that. I dont remember about this time limitation (I have a terrible memory though, so maybe thats why)... interesting.

There isn't a stated limitation, what I'm getting at is that the repeated cycles is possibly merely a different recording off a Oracle Drive if the cycle indeed repeats itself. It's all speculation at this point.

Actually, I did notice that Troy Baker was really putting himself in the role in the opening cinematic. At least, sounds like he improved since the original XIII. That might be because Snow's character seems a bit more complex this time, instead of just having the generic 'I wanna be a hero!' mentality.

That does make sense though, considering that you're entering the new world through the Ark. It would be pretty cool if instead of just starting a new game, the game would continue on after you beat it and you would be forced back to the Ark and allowed to continuously replay the events. I doubt they'd do that though.

I was referring to the same thing that happens in every trailer or video released on this game. People seem stunned by the campiness of JRPG dialogue and harp on it for pages. The dialogue is no where worse than most western dialogue nowadays.
Also for those confused about the opening,
From the recent JP videos playing the game from the start, the game goes like this:
This opening >>> modified TGS demo >>> The Ark and tons of exposition that discussed how the world came to be, who Lightning is and why she is doing what she is doing, Hope's mysterious transformation, and the goal of the game / purpose of the Ark.
The opening is just a stylish way of introducing Lightning and the world and it does a fair enough job, unlike 13's which understandably left people lost. You will be recapped without needing any datalog.
