Daily Reminder that we have a GAF LRG VOTE going on right now.

If you didn’t have a chance to vote yet or if you missed that it was going on, now’s the time to make your voice heard!

Take 5 minutes, pick your games, don’t feel like a big hypocrite next time you complain about publishers not taking a chance with smaller Japanese games and niche genres ;)

This is a SWITCH game, damn that's rad. Wonder why these guys could do it but not LRG. Though this doesn't say anything about the game being limited at all. So maybe not a competitor at all.
I thought the same.

Seems like they might be doing a full retail release, and maybe Nintendo's more ok with that sort of distribution?

Yeah I agree, not every new publisher is a direct competitor to LRG. I think it's great to see more companies publishing niche titles. This publisher seems to have great ties to Nintendo, so maybe we can expect more Switch releases from them in the future. :)

More fun surprises:

The Cursed Castilla soundtrack CD is the full thing with 50+ tracks, *and* the inside box has a full-color, 20-page manual :)

Also, any word on "Drive! Drive! Drive!"?

The digital version is tempting me.

I thought I'd throw my vote in for the Vita games we want localised and released through LRG. I'm not very sure on the localisation process and what would be 'realistic' picks so I'll do my best there.

My realistic picks:

(3 points) Great Edo Blacksmith
(2 points) Uppers
(1 point) Hero Must Die

Dream games:

(3 points) Tales of Innocence R
(2 points) Net High
(1 point) Robotics;Notes

I'd just like to say as well Puyo Puyo tetris is amazing and if anyone is desperate for a Vita release just import it, the story really isn't anything special but the gameplay as ace and worth it if you don't want to play the localised PS4/Switch versions.

My Picks
1: Flowers
2: Shiin [Death Mark]
3: The Princess is Money-Hungry

Dream Games
1: Phantasy Star Online 2
2: Romance of the Three Kingdoms XIII
3: I'm going to hate myself for not remembering some game I should have put here so hell let's just say PhotoKano Kiss because why not

Moving forward with the mindset of skipping Asian-English imports, a localization for the YU-NO remake supposedly in the works via a German retailer leak and an English demo floating around for Clannad through Sekai Project for nearly a year right now...

"Realistic"/Shizuka Picks:
3P. EVE: Burst Error R (C's Ware)
2P. Shiin, aka Death Mark (Experience Inc.)
1P. Ukiyo no Roushi, aka Ronin of Ukiyo (Spike Chunsoft)

"Dream Vita Games":
3P. Sci;Adv series (Chaos;Head Dual & Robotic;Notes Elite) -- Potential localization rights conflict/co-publishing with PQube hurdle?
2P. Kamaitachi no Yoru: Rinne Saisei, aka Banshee's Last Cry remake -- Potential localization rights conflict with Aksys Games over iOS version? Would prefer a new translation that doesn't alter the setting or other native Japanese elements.
1P. Sayonara Umihara Kawase+ -- Already digitally available in NA from Degica

Honorable mentions: Flowers, Special Report Division, Great Edo Blacksmith, Earth Defense Force 3 Portable, Desire Remastered, Uppers & Ebikore + Amagami

Aokage

Pretty nice guy (apart from the blue shadows thing...)
Still trying to figure out what my last two picks are. I played a few hours of Shiin, and it's really damn good. I got locked out of my save because it received a critical update, though -.-

It might be one of the two.

I hope some of the picks are the ones I already Photochopped, ha ha. Those things can take a little while.

My top 3:

Ao no Kiseki Evolution [Trails to Azure]

Zero no Kiseki Evolution[Trails to Zero]

Sora no Kiseki FC Evolution [The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky First Chapter]

Dream list:

Sora no Kiseki SC Evolution [The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky Second Chapter]

Sora no Kiseki 3rd Evolution [The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky the 3rd]

Labyrinth Cross Blood Infinity Ultimate / Meikyuu Cross Blood

Side note:

I can't believe I forgot to mention Saga Scarlet Grace. I don't believe it's on the list, unless I missed something
again
. If I could add 2 more games to the dream list they'd be Saga Scarlet Grace and Dengeki Bunko Fighting Climax Ignition.

EDIT: I'm gonna edit both list later.

Ignoring the completely unthinkable, I'd love to see these:
3 Points: Hero Must Die (although I don't see why NISA wouldn't just do this)
2 Points: Ukiyo no Roushi
1 Point: Uppers

As for indies, how can it be 2017 and we still don't have a single physical DrinkBox game? They're like the biggest Vita supporters too with two launch exclusives (Mutant Blobs and Severed) and another one that launched as a multiplat with a Vita version available, Guacamelee.

Hey question for LimitedRun

The current Axiom verge thread has me wondering what you guys have understood since you've tried to explore working with the switch, what is the difference between carts for the vita and the carts for the switch that would make the switch versions of games more expensive than blu-ray or the vita carts? is there a difference? or is it just a development cost?

Cladun Sengoku finally released this week, but NISA only did a physical for the PS4.

Shore would be nice if a Vita cart got worked out through an LRG partnership somehow.

Unprecedented Partnership™

1. Yes

3. Net High

Chose my No. 2 "difficult loc" game. I've decided Shiin is absolutely -superb-. It's not that it's new and exciting... it's that it's great:

I’ll add it to the list, probably one for the Dream Game category because of SE.

This falls in the same category as Neo Atlas or Airship Q, I’ll add it to the list and you can vote for it if you want.

thanks for voting 👍

I very much want this to be real

The prices of Vita carts and Switch carts are comparable. The problem is the bigger the file size the bigger the card so there is a substantial price increase. This would be the case for Vita if the max wasn't 4 GB.

Sorry, I can't give anything more concrete, but it's all NDA stuff. I'm sure someday someone will leak more information.

Wow, so Switch owners are probably going to be able to get some of the more high profile, smaller indie games they want on physical, if the dev is associated with a publisher who wants to do a big numbers run and maybe be in stores (or at least Amazon) like Shovel Knight did for PS4/X1/WiiU - because the file sizes are small enough to keep the cost cart down... but there's likely going to be lots of AA, mid-tier fan favorites that fans will always be begging to get physicals for.

ie: something like Fatal Frame MIB for WiiU last gen would probably be just the right kind of game to not be deemed mainstream enough for a retail release size order, but too big a filesize (coming in at 16GB) to produce copies cheap enough for profit at the lowest MOQ that Nintendo offers. Gonna be a popular system and I foresee a lot of "wtf no physical?" on the horizon.

So for the vote, can we only vote for the stuff on the list for our dream titles, or can we add our own?

we made a list with all the games that were brought up in the thread over the last couple of weeks for a possible localization. Just write a post if you want something added, everyone can edit their vote as well.

edit:

Steins;Gate: Senkei Kousoku no Phenogram
Steins;Gate: Hiyoku Renri no Darling

added to the list

Seeing that Axiom Verge Switch physical announcement doing the rounds today made me realize waiting for a Switch port and a multiplatform physical release is probably why we've had to wait so long to get a PS4 disc and Vita cart that could've come out in January.

What I was thinking of were the two Steins;Gate spinoffs on Vita that haven't been localized. Since they lack PS4 versions, and PQube seems preoccupied with more recent 5pb titles, I have some doubts that they'll make it over.

I can't imagine that the Nintendo-Thomas Happ dispute thing was a cover story. If anything, Badlands would have wanted to sell PS4 and Vita versions before announcing, because more people would be likely to double dip on Switch in that case.

That actually makes sense, because yeah, that is how us collector's respond a lot of times, especially if we don't know another version is coming.

ie: Shovel Knight where "I guess I'll just get the PS4 disc, since Vita is obviously never happening" and then it happens.

Incidentally, once this vote is finished, what would you think about a vote for digital games that haven't been released in certain regions? As a JP account holder, for example, I can't play Bastion or Sine Mora or Dex or Whispering Willows or Another World or Grim Fandango or Day of the Tentacle or Full Throttle or Titan Souls or Spellspire or Guacamelee and...now I'm just getting sad, ha ha.

I know this doesn't apply to the vast majority of people on GAF, but I bet LRG could sell them in Japan... hmm.

There are also a number of JP only digital titles, too.

My only pet peeve is that I only can read the title as "Death SEAL" and not "Death Mark".

I wouldn't have localized it as "Death Mark" either, but apparently that is the official English title...?

Same thing for 勇者死す。, I wouldn't localize it as Hero Must Die either...

Like you said, probably not something a lot of people on GAF will care about, but certainly an interesting idea.

Indie games are slowly getting more media attention in Japan (BitSummit, Famitsu Indie Spotlight, etc.).

For example, I like what Spike Chunsoft has been doing with games they brought over like Crypt of the Necrodancer or Portal Knights. They localize the games, add exclusive SpikeChun content like the Danganronpa/Shiren add-ons in CotN and make sure they get enough attention from gaming press/sites.

No idea if this is something LRG would be interested in and they'd obviously need to hire localizer(s) for Japanese support, but it could be an interesting way for them to branch out. Getting attention for their digital indie games in Japan might be the biggest problem imo, so they'd probably need to start with a well-known title like Bastion.

edit: and no need to get sad, there's always the option to switch cards/accounts on Vita/PS4 :)

Oficial title? I think that was a translation gone wrong that sticked, dunno why. Death seal is way cooler than Death Mark.

Haven't started playing it yet, but probably because it's a story about this strange mark shown in the trailer. If you get it on your body, you'll die a few days later.

In the first Famitsu article, they referred to 印 as しるし which also means ”mark". And maybe 死印 is also meant as a play on words with 死因 = し.いん = cause of death, something that wouldn't have worked if they'd named it 死痣 for example. At least that's what I thought.

But yeah, ”Mark of Death" sounds better imo.

OT: Excited for Broken Age tomorrow, hope it last for a few minutes during the second batch.

It's very rare that indie games of that scope get translated. Often they're just thrown on the JP store with a notice that "this game is in only available in English." Even major, well regarded indies like Velocity 2X and Severed aren't localized. So yeah, it is super cool when SpikeChun or Playism does loc them.

That said, Japanese Vita uberfans are used to playing the majority of Western indies in English already, so I can't help but wonder if there wouldn't be a market for titles like the ones I listed released as-is in English. I'll have to ask Doug how many sales he gets from Japan... I have seen LRG releases in used game shops there.

And I do have NA/EU/Asia accounts as well, but I -loathe- changing them. I just want all my games on one account, one Vita, and one card, aaaargh. The age-old struggle :)

It does refer to the mark itself. Hah, I had always seen it called "Death Mark" on GAF and Twitter and so on, and just assumed it was a poor English title given to a game Experience knew would almost certainly never be released outside of Japan. Since 死印 is a 造語, a made-up word, I would probably have done the same if I were localizing it. "Deathbrand", or something.

And I am so hyped for Broken Age. Part of why I love LRG so much is they afford me the opportunity to play games I could not otherwise on my primary account with 11 years of Trophies and 300-whatever friends. It'll be fun to see how quickly it sells out. I imagine it'll be their fastest seller yet.

Oh gosh, I'm sorry about that. Maybe I should make the disclaimer bigger.
