Limited Run Games - Putting digital games into your hands

I know that they won't keep expanding release after release, but this release today showed that the increase from the last one to this one wasn't nearly enough, and that they'll need to keep increasing the production to meet the demand. If anything, the advice to be wary of increasing production isn't really valid after today, it'll take a few more releases for us to see where the demand ends and overstock begins.

Agree, they aren't there yet and have some room to increase while still being able to maintain the Limited Run aspect.

Typically games with even a 10k production run are considered pretty rare these days so even if they eventually increase it to those numbers, the games will still be sought after. Especially for some of the more anticipated releases upcoming.

Woof I have a lot of emails. Wish people used our forums more where I explain how important it is to create an account and update your address before you purchase.

I can't combine all shipping btw, if you order a box it can make the shipping charge double on our end. I am trying to combine every order that I can though! :) I will let you know if I can't and refund you based on what is left after shipping.

Nuts, I should've just ordered both versions together. Anyway, hope I get my orders combined. Thanks for keeping us updated here. You're good people.

I think it's pretty clear that they need to at least double the amount of PS4 copies to 4k and either have the Vita stay at 2k or bump it up to 3k. I just woke up and was surprised to see the vita version still up for grabs, whereas the PS4 version must have sold out way earlier. So you can pretty much tell which system they need to focus on in the future.

It'll probably depend on the release and whether there's different versions competing with each other. Breach & Clear was only Vita and sold through fast. Oddworld's tweets were only targeting Vita, and if everyone's money/hype is concentrated on one platform that month with a brand that recognizable... 5k (?) of just Vita could be gone in a blink.

Cosmic Star Heroine, who knows? Could need 10k PS4, 5k Vita. If they went like... 18k PS4 and 2k Vita, I think us Vita people would be up against it trying to get one and it'd then be the rarer version too, which will signal the scalper horde. If they ever drop Vita, I'll be out.

If they ever drop Vita for a multiplatform release that most of us would also expect a Vita release for, at least for this last year, I'd be out.

I think it's too soon to talk about when/if they drop the Vita, but when/if that happens, I'd just get the PS4 exclusives I'm interested in (which is a very, very limited number).

It's foldable that you slide a Vita game case into. I tried to take a decent photo and failed, but this is the general idea:

Ok, awesome! Thanks! Those will work great!

I ended up buying 5 vita and 1 ps4 with my order today. Gotta protect SSD, Oreshika, B&C, and RCRDX too!

I might for some, if I'm super into whatever it is. I'm pretty sure I'm done collecting after Vita, though. I got carried away with it but it was one I could actively pursue. Any PS4 shelf space I have will hopefully just be regular buying habits that just happen to build up.

If your website wasn't broken, and orders weren't split across two sales periods per day then this wouldn't be an issue. I had both the Vita and PS4 versions in my cart this morning, but your website wouldn't let me order the PS4 version (out of stock). Of course others successfully purchased it minutes later.

I was able to pick up the PS4 game this evening, but of course now it's two separate orders. I haven't e-mailed to ask for it to be combined, but I should. It does seem that you are good people, but welcome to retail. Right now your systems and processes are wasting your time and ours.

Edit: Not trying to be rude or demanding, this is just reality.

You're the minority dude. This was painless for the majority here.
I was going to say sorry you missed out but you got one of each in the end.

Can't they just use some sort've preorder system? Like say for one week, allow people to order, cut it off, then print all copies that were ordered. Maybe even use kickstarter not to kickstart, but just to keep track of it all.

Sorry if that suggestion has already been out there. Just vaguely keeping track of this. I know I'll miss out on Cosmic Heroine when the time comes. :/

I agree with LRG, I don't think preorders are the correct solution because then it's no different than any other publisher/seller. Having two batches was a step in the right direction, it saved my ass.

But as I suggested in the past, I think a loyalty program is badly needed. It would reward repeat customers and that way their biggest fans don't have to be sitting on nails hoping they don't miss a future release. How about they hold a copy of the game for these customers for 12 hours? For those who don't pay for their copy within that time frame it gets sold off to the public in the next batch.

And limiting everyone to 1 copy is needed now more than ever. Cancel those mults and sell them to make some new happy customers.

Physical ESRB ratings cost $5,000, but aren't mandatory if you don't want to sell in stores.

Shipping will start Monday. I will be putting in long hours to get these shipped out!

Your order won't be canceled as long as you follow these two rules,

1) You ordered from the first batch and second batch but only ordered 2 per platform max.

2) During the second batch you only ordered 1 per platform.

On our forums we have our official policy which states we reserve the right to cancel any order, but right now that is only happening to people who are abusing the system, have abused the system during Breach & Clear, or asked me to cancel it.

We support collecting habits, not eBay habits. If you follow the rules and want to sell your copies, then okay. But you cannot cheat to do so. I'm sorry to everyone who thinks we are being disingenuous or unfair about changing our policy for the second batch.

I personally think you guys are going above and beyond in trying to be fair with your releases. You won't please everyone, that's a fact, but you guys are doing great work!

not many companies care enough to look for abusers as long as they sell out their stuff so i think you're going above and beyond.

This ha oreads been discussed, it's not their plan for business. They want to make sure it's a limited number before going into sales because they know it'll sell better that way and it's always final. If you open for some time, scalpers will take advantage of the situation, the print won't be as limited and people won't feel the need to order their copy as much as they do with limited prints.

Are the orders in violation of the 1 per console rule canceled immediately or after the total orders are reviewed? I liked how Breach & Clear had the unnanounced sale of those orders, it's actually how I got into LRG and for those in the know its one additional safety net.

Oh crap, when did this rule go into effect?!?
I missed out on the morning batch because I was at work and forgot to set a reminder but I ordered 2x of each version from the 2nd batch (one to play & one to keep sealed).

I didn't see anything about this new limit on the site when I placed my order and the only policy I was aware of for these games on the LRG forums (and posted earlier in this thread) was:
"These will be limited to two of each per platform per order for the first 24 hours of sale. After that the two per order limit will be lifted."

Is there any way I can reduce my order to 1 of each instead of having it completely cancelled?? :(

I'm not canceling whole orders, just reducing the quantity people ordered on the second batch. So no worries. We had to change our policy when the first batch sold out in less than 30 minutes. :/ Hope you won't be mad if I reduce your order...

Does that mean there'll be a third batch?

So to be clear, it's ok if the store website has issues and might screw you "in the minority" next time? Yeah I did get both in the end, but only by rearranging some personal matters to accommodate. That's not always a good solution, or a solution at all in some cases.

The store needs to be fixed, whether it's some random occurrence or issues with certain devices or browsers.

Do you know how many times I've been screwed out of limited items due to cart glitches?
I'm not saying they shouldn't be fixed. I was mainly replying to him due to his harsh language to a group who is going above and beyond other retailers to make things fair.

I've seen far less complaints here compared to other like items.

The "harsh language" is just constructive criticism. He mentioned that they're buried in e-mails from people trying to change / combine orders. The feedback was intended to point out that all the e-mails are self inflicted and that can be improved going forward. It also wasn't harsh unless they happen to have really thin skin, and then retail is probably the wrong business. I agree they seem like great people, so I'm hoping things smooth out going forward.

The store is hosted on Shopify so there isn't too much we can do to improve it. We will take a look though, and there is always the possibility we will change our host.

I don't mind the criticism, it hurts sometimes when it's out of my hands, but we are a new company and learning!

You have the patience and composure of a saint. Gamers have got to be one of the most vocal, complaining, self entitled groups of people around (yes, I realize this includes me). Keep up the great effort you're putting forward.

I know for a fact one ps4 copy will go up on sale. I told them if I was able to get the soundtrack ps4 version on the second opening, I'd cancel my first ps4 order and they did just that for me. Much appreciated.

You always ship from the US, correct?

Please mark the game with a low value...somewhere between 9 and 13$ would be best. Not lower but not higher either. That would be really helpful! Thanks!

Rest assured, they do that for all packages. It didn't save me (nothing is getting past the customs for me nowadays), but at least it smoothed the sting.

I think the goal is to mark them at $1? Hopefully that does something to make it easier.

Noooo, don't do that...please!!
Customs will definitely not believe 1$ but get suspicios, pick the package out and make people like me drive 60 miles to pick it up, Paypal receipt in hand (and for 40$ total I'd have to pay 8$ in fees. Plus gas, of course.)

So marking it with 1$ would be counterproductive.
Seriously....somewhere between 8 or 9$, 13$ tops. That will have the best chance to slip through.

Alright $10 it is.

We did $19.99 last time and it didn't seem to be low enough.

Yeah, it's awfully close to the 22€ limit in Germany, for example....so it becomes interesting for customs.

10$ will be much better, albeit very "even".

9, 11 or 12 would all be even less suspicious than a straight 10$ value.
Yeah....I've had a lot of customs visits..... :) (last one was last Thursday)

Is there any way to get added signature?

Email me or PM me with your order number and I will add a note to remind myself to add that. I'm pretty sure I can, I just don't usually click that box because our post office delivers to my work at the crack of dawn and no one is ever there before 9 am usually.

Ah okay, that's a huge relief! :D
It'd be cool to get the 2 copies of each I ordered but I have no intention of breaking the rules and plan to buy every other game you guys release in the future so do what you've got to do - no hard feelings! :)
