I trust you that that's what the parts he picked out cost. I don't trust that that's equivalent or could not be done cheaper, nawmean?
Grok (who has very recently blatantly and obviously lied to me so get your salt grains ready), says it could make an equivalent PC for $720:
Sample PCPartPicker Build (~$720 total, 512GB; expandable/upgradable)
Part Model/Example Price (USD) CPU AMD Ryzen 5 7600 (6C/12T, 5.1GHz boost) $190 GPU AMD Radeon RX 7600 8GB $260 RAM 16GB (2x8GB) DDR5-6000 $70 Storage 512GB NVMe SSD (e.g., WD SN580) $40 Motherboard Mini-ITX AM5 (e.g., MSI B650I) $180 PSU 450–550W SFX 80+ Gold $70 Case Mini-ITX (e.g., Fractal Ridge, ~6" cube-like) $90 Cooler Stock/stock air (or $30 add-on) $20 Total ~$720 (pre-tax/shipping; sales drop to ~$650)
Price looks about right for off the shelf. Of course, the CPU is the mobile version of that and it and the gpu will be integrated into the motherboard so that part alone will be cheaper than the cpu/gpu/mb combo there. But if Valve says the price will be competitive with what you could build yourself then it will be overpriced, imo. Gotta stick to my guns and say $500 or bust on this one.
