vs fidelity in motion
The last time I looked at this was on my phone and I didn't notice the difference. Goddamn, pro 60 is better than fidelity 30!

yeah KCD2 runs and looks great on pro, acceptable base res makes PSSR shine, oh the mystery.
the pop-in can be bit annoying though, hopefully they'll optimize further.

Is this supposed to be impressive?

DF seems to think so.

"So what's the PS5 Pro advantage? The good news is that all of these fidelity mode extras engage by default: there are improved tree and shadow LODs, ambient occlusion and object quality - and it all runs at 60fps rather than 30fps, essentially living up to Mark Cerny's original pitch for the PS5 Pro, in removing the burden of choice between two modes to give one singular option that does it all. Compared to the base PS5's performance mode, PS5 Pro's use of PSSR - using 1296p as a base resolution - also boosts image quality all round. The result is sharper, often better defining the fine detail on distant grass ahead, or even the individual strands of the horse's mane. Even compared to the fidelity mode it holds up well: the only catch being that there is a slight increase in temporal flicker compared to the base PS5's FSR approach. Otherwise, the move to the more expensive PSSR pays off in generating a convincing enough 4K image, while also keeping 60fps and all those fidelity mode extras in view."

It’s from compressed footage

It’s running quality settings at 60fps, exactly what the pro was pitched as

Whether that’s impressive depends on your expectations
Ok that is impressive then...I just didn't see much difference in those gifs

If this game is running quality at 60 then I'm happy and the Pro has done it's job. Even Space Marine 2 can't run quality at 60.

I agree then this game is my idea of a success on the Pro ...makes me wonder why other games can't achieve this

Different developers. We've been saying this since day one.

Even Space Marine 2 can't run quality at 60.

Eh....you say that but I've got 120 hours of SM2 playing both quality and performance mode and performance at 60 is superior to quality in every way I can see.

I bought this game and from what I've seem so far i think it looks nice ...60 fps is a game changer as far as gameplay. They should've patched KC1 for 60 on ps5 considering how vital 60 fps is to a game like this.

This game and RDR2 are similar in the way you need to perform all actions yourself. Rdr2 is inherently laggy with the way they do animations which is why it's such BS that Rockstar never patched that game. Warhorse has the excuse of being a MUCH smaller studio, Rockstar just sucks donkey balls

What? I'm just saying it's a shame they couldn't get pssr running Fidelity mode in that game at a lower base resolution. The 4k textures of quality make a huge difference in that games visuals.

Could be they did and found it looked better as it is now. No use harping on it repeatedly, is there? Either way, who plays Space Marine 2 in fidelity mode? That is a horrible way to play a game like this.

I'm curious to see what the latest version of PSSR is capable of, recent releases have been looking good - I really hope they update Avatar at some point too, it was always the benchmark visual title for me when it came to testing the Pro.

I expect differences like this compared to the Graphics Mode
LM5E4IE.png

This is Titanfall 2.

The PS4 version ran at dynamic 1080p60 and the PS4 Pro version ran at dynamic 1440p60...

Was the ps4 pro running at 60 fps and ps4 at 30? Not a rhetorical question. Just trying to process what your expectation is.
Pro didn't run much of anything 60fps. Typically the difference was 4k checkerboard at 30fps vs 1080p native 30fps.

Very few games run at higher FPS on PS4 Pro.

The constant revision of history is kind of mind boggling.

Nice catch! Did not play TF 2 so I couldn't tell from the screen.

Was just playing a youtube "party game" with the wife yesterday where you get 3 seconds of random footage from a movie and you need to guess the movie. I was shocked by how many I got right. How the brain works...

I just googled the text from the ship.

Questions for those playing KCD2:

1) does the sharpness slider (which is decribed as mitigating “upscaling blur”) do anything? I can only see a minor difference at max sharpening and to be honest, for a post processing effect doesn’t look egregiously bad.

2) is anyone getting random 2D sprite trees until you are up real close?

I expected it to be unarguably better then the base mode, I don't want to be switching between the two modes because I'm not sure if the base mode is cleaner or just as if not more detailed only to find out out it is because the Pro mode is fuzzy mess with flickering shadows.
I want to play the PS5 Pro in Pro mode instead of reverting back to the base PS5 mode because the image quality is actually inferior.
Stellar Blade & Horizon has good Pro patches.
But the throw PSSR onto the 60fps mode isn't gonna cut it.
Cerny said they wanted to deliver the best of both to eliminate the decision of choosing a mode.
This isn't the case, I'd rather have a slightly lower resolution that is stable and clean then a YouTube video at 60fps.
I wouldn't mind if it was barely noticeable, but it like I'm playing on a cheap LCD from the late 2000's
Devs need to start doing more then switching PSSR on and calling it a day.

That’s fair. But what does it have to do with KCD2? the pro patch addresses exactly what you want and a little more. Better than quality mode and at 60 fps

That's good, that's what I want to see, but forgive me I just started playing FFVII Rebirth and after everyone saying how good the Pro patch was I'm kinda annoyed to see this fuzzy crap all over the screen.

What TV do you use and at what distance? Somehow it's so hard to see the fuzzy stuff that DF calls out every time. I do have an ancient 46 inch 4K LED though.

If you're on PC, always use google lens if you're curious about the origin of an image.

And funnily enough, the first result google lens gives is this old GAF thread:

Damnnn. I had no idea it would be this easy. For working in tech, I'm really behind on these things!

Maybe you should book one if you can't see the artifacts 8 ft in front of the character.

Sony Bravia 55X95 and about 4/5 feet.
it's the same shit you seen in Silent Hill 2 before they removed PSSR and Avatar, maybe not as bad but it's there.
Yet no mention of it from DF, instead DF says it's fantastic and a improvement over the native 4k mode
I saw their video, I was convinced ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
But that's not the case, because when you actually have on hardware it's sharper and more solid....except for the PS5 Pro patch which looks like it's still on YouTube
but as Markio128 Markio128 said, they need to book an eye test.
If just you're okay with it and it doesn't bother you that's fine too
but it's blatantly there and anyone who says it ain't is either blind or playing dumb.
I don't mind grain but this is like a bad implementation of it, like Until Dawn Remakes bad grain effect that was criticised but it definitely looks like video compression.(Maybe Sony is making you get used to it so Streaming won't look as bad 🤔😂)
But as I said, if you okay with it, just say "I don't think it that bad and I can live with it to get my 60fps"
Just don't tell me it not there when.....it is.

Don't know man i have the same tv but in 85" instead of 55 sitting 9ft (almost 3 meters away) And FF7 rebirth is one of the most impressive games i have played on the pro. Maybe you have sharpness Turned up to high? Or Reality creation to high? Play with the settings something is really wrong if Rebirth didn't impress you on this tv

TGO TGO is not alone. I can see it on my LG OLED77G26LA. What are the chances of more patches to fix this issue as well as the LOD?

I think Rebirth looks fantastic, it's a beautiful game on base PS5, and those are Quality Mode captures

But the Pro introduces Upscaling Artifacts that are reminiscent of video compression and that is what I'm not impressed with.
When everything in red is moving due to being unstable and looking like compression it's kinda hard to be impressed with it
oYlYWxs.jpeg

Especially when it's nice and defined on the Base quality mode.
That's my complaint, Stellar Blade looks better in Pro Mode and so does Horizon, this doesn't.
It's just another compromised 60fps mode which the Pro was supposed to eliminate.
It's close, but it's not good enough.

Wierd but maybe im just not as sensitive about these things? Which is wierd because I could see it immediately in Jedi survivor and had to quit playing because it was so bad before the latest update. I just thought that the picture in Rebirth was pristine. Such a nostalgia trip, really enjoyed it

It's mostly subtle until I go in to large bright open areas, where there is a lot of foliage. It's in no way shape or form as bad as Star Wars Jedi Survivor or Silent Hill 2.

To fix the issue: Near 0
To update LOD: 0.0

They are probably well into development for Part 3 and may even be migrating engines. With all the glowing reviews for the pro update, that ship has definitely sailed
As I already said, I think the game looks fantastic as standard on PS5 quality mode.
I can switch from 60fps and back easy as it don't bother me, I quickly adjust.
But that shit you can't adjust to, it there all the time.
It's like I'm using a RF lead to connect my PS5 up to the TV
This is another game on the pile of disappointing Pro updates and it's annoying, PS4 Pro was noticeable on every game even on a 1080p screen.

Definitely in dark areas and shadows, just doesn't draw my attention as much as bright open areas with lots of foliage. What really piss's me off is the LOD!

I feel you, man. I just don't see them updating it when the community at large has blessed it and they have moved on to the next project. Haven't played it yet myself, so I don't even know if I'll notice it (TLOU makes me think I won't). I could see the flickering shadows in the snow level and the Santa Barbara, but not the grain, which some were seeing throughout, including DF. Would you say the grain is on par with TLOU or worse?

I wouldn't say it's grain, it looks like video compression as it's always moving.
Up close you don't notice it, except for hair.
Looks sharper but diffused with that compression movement going on.
Like the Raytraying in Alan Wake 2.

It's only disappointing for those that were fine playing at 30fps. For anyone playing at 60, the upgrade is huge.

Don't get me started with LOD, PS5 with it's SSD was supposed to eliminate this.
They even showed it off as a feature and yet, even on PS5 Pro everything is popping in.
That's another thing PS4 Pro improved that the PS5 Pro hasn't.

I tried every graphics mode on FF7 Rebirth and I'll gladly take a bit of shimmering in Versatility mode over ther other options. I just wish Sqaure Enix would've optimised the game a little better for the PS5 PRO.

People are gonna have a fit when they see the graphics mode in action for Monster Hunter. Hopefully the performance mode fares better as they aren't burning up resources on ray tracing. The internal rendering resolution seems lower than the base, but disappointingly, PSSR isn't making up for it.. Not perfectly aligned, but I tried my best. I'd still reserve judgment as there isn't much footage to compare and the game is still in development, but so far, the graphics mode is not blowing me away.

Based on my time with the PC benchmark the game is looking like a technical mess regardless of where it's played.

I just don't get some narratives. I bought the PS4 Pro launch.

Some games were worse graphically like TW3, PS4 Pro was wack! The 1800cb was shitey. No comparison imo
I brought the PS4 Pro and the PS5 Pro is way better. The PS4 Pro was just higher res still 30fps. PS5 Pro at least offer quality mode but at 60fps like with KCD2 for example. Also when implemented right the PSSR is better than the FSR garbage.

Unlocked frame rates and dynamic resolutions, especially with PSSR will make these games even better on PS6 than PS4 Pro games were on PS5. Especially with the SSD speeds only getting faster. Was always crazy to me when PS4 games didn't have full capability to access PS5 load times.
