Oh come on, this is getting ridiculous. They're still reviewing it, the Koreans still haven't accepted the decision ? I'm sorry, I can't tell if she should've won, but at some point you're just a bad loser if you keep complaining/appealing.
I have to disagree. Watch the replay. It's not rude when it's about a medal. Japan did the same thing in Gymnastics a little bit ago and it was the difference between them getting a Silver medal or nothing. They ended up with Silver.

A decision hasn't been made yet.

I'd scream murder if that happened. It clearly wasn't 1 second. They even put one second back on...

My limited understanding is that they were in a sort of "overtime" and tied at 5-5. The German fencer had to score a point to win, due to some sort of random drawing before the "overtime". There was 1 second left on the clock, and they had a few stoppages due to them both hitting each other at the same time, but that 1 second never ticked away. At one point the clock hit 0, they added the one second back, and then the German fencer scored a point and won, with 1 second still remaining on the clock.

The dispute is over how long that 1 second actually lasted, I believe.

Thanks for explaining it.

I completely disagree. If you get fucked over by something that's completely out of your control, I want to see them appeal until at least the situation is properly reviewed by multiple referees.

Watching the BBC again.

Its a complete disgrace, 2 times the BBC commentators even said "how long can a second be?" they completely fucked up majorly.

0:01-0.00: Double hit.

0:00- -1.00: Double hit.

0:00- -2.00: German hit.

I mean, they added 2 seconds.

And even if they just added 1 second, it was still 1 extra second added.

Its so obvious to everyone.

HOLY FUCKING SHIT. The Chinese in the 400 IM had a faster final 100 m than LOCHTE in his gold medal win. She would have beaten the gold medal man. Holy fuck. And she is 16 YEARS OLD. China is breeding superhumans.

The whole thing is 400m and combined she is slower by like 25 seconds. She could be burning most of her energy at the end (considered she was like 5th or 6th after the first 100m).

If you want to extrapolate, then in the second half of Q1 in the USA-FRA basketball game, France outscored USA by 11-8. Does that means France could have beaten USA by 88-64? I guess not.

I just realized this fencing match was a semi-final. This isn't just about advancing, it's about advancing to the gold medal match.

Yeah, you exhaust pretty much all options here.

Then why are you commenting on it. She is protesting the decision, it's not about drawing it out it's just the process taking so long. I think that she doesn't want to sit there crying...not going to lie.

For me, watching the NBC Live app on my iPad has been great. I do feel for people who don't have a cable provider that allows them to stream on mobile devices or can't check it out on the web. The fact everything is archived means I can go back and see what I missed.

I have been watching handball, archery, kayaking, fencing, a little weight lifting too. Things I wouldn't normally see on TV.

It's not that easy if the clock isnt started automatically. Refs shouts "Allez", fencer reacts, and timekeeper reacts.... the timekeeper probably has weaker reflexes than the fencers, it's a crazy setup. The a double hit only occurs with 1/4 of a second. so it's possible that everything that happened could've been well within the rules. Automatic time keeping would disagree of course, but they dont use it and there's always human error.

Lisa: Thank you, Mr. President.
Bill Clinton: No, thank you, Lisa. For teaching kids everywhere a valuable lesson: If things don't go your way, just keep complaining until your dreams come true.
Marge: That's a pretty lousy lesson.
Bill Clinton: Hey, I'm a pretty lousy president.
