Yeah, screw sportsmanship. A decision I disagree with ? Stab the judges ! That said the judges really shouldn't have drawn this out for such a long time, the way they handled it was just bad.
If I spent years training only for it to be taken away because of some idiotic system... yeah, I'd be angry.

You can be sad but a decision was made. Multiple times now. Just get over it go to your bronze medal match and win that? She still has the potential for a medal.

Just poor sportsmanship.
Yeah, she's going to be in top shape right now...

The guy talking French to her. Is he fucking retarded.

This is a complete disgrace. It is so clearly wrong the decision. I cannot believe it.

How can it be summarized if the whole thing is still ongoing or are you saying its been summarized to till the point to which it was originally summarized

here dude

My limited understanding is that they were in a sort of "overtime" and tied at 5-5. The German fencer had to score a point to win, due to some sort of random drawing before the "overtime". There was 1 second left on the clock, and they had a few stoppages due to them both hitting each other at the same time, but that 1 second never ticked away. At one point the clock hit 0, they added the one second back, and then the German fencer scored a point and won, with 1 second still remaining on the clock.

The dispute is over how long that 1 second actually lasted, I believe.

and she has to stay for the appeal to go on

I'm always a sucker for underdog stories. Just reading the headline about Hammadou Djibo brought water to my eyes.

Wasn't there someone that said that strictly speaking the hit was still in time (according to German TV) ? Let's not forget that she would've won due to a stupid system (draw a straw). Apparently bullshit is okay as long as it's in your favour.

Of couse German TV would say that.

Does the Bronze medal match come before or after the Gold medal match? Either way, an event as demanding as fencing cannot pair well with her emotional state right now.

I'm British and I don't really care about them anymore. They're flopping on pretty much every event.

My biggest concern is how flippant they seem to be in the interviews afterwards, i wish i saw more die hard passion, im sure they have it but it never translates well when they talk to the media, all i hear is "yeah, gave my best, cant ask for more" etc.

16-15 at half time

I bet they manipulated the clock as well. Also you'd be surprised as to how neutral the German TV can be when it comes to sports, it's sometimes as if they're cheering for the opponents more than our sportlers.

So only the German TV knew about the time, not even the BBC. Gotcha.

Usually I don't really complain about the consolation speeches, but our guy actually just said "yeah, it's just great to swim in a pool like this!"

*facepalm.

Was going to ask this after you posted the 1st pic. Are you competing in the Olympics?

You better win!

I hope you really are an athlete there.  It would be awesome and worthy of a separate thread so all of OT Gaf will jump in to watch.

No, I'm not an athlete. I an spending 3 days in London and bought tickets for a few sports online. Boxing is the first one I'm attending. Sorry if I mislead anyone as that wasn't my intention.

Internet access here is very slow due to overuse so it's been difficult for me to post more pics.

British are shite at Swimming.

Miley's attitude when she came in 5th was crap "well I tried my best and I made the final, I'm really happy" ugh.

Adlington is amazing though.

4-0 hockey!
