What exactly is happening with fencing?

I've missed whatever the hell happened.

The clock went from 1 second left to 0, then to 1 again. The Korean got hit after the clock increased, they appealed and lost the appeal, she was miserably waiting inside the fighting area for the appeal to be over.

The British athletes should want to grind their opponent's bones to dust, not follow in their trail and hope they get to feed off the scraps. Our ancestors were complete lunatics that nearly conquered the world through force, not some meek little mice. If there was a time when we should summon that imperialistic "stamp on your rival's neck" attitude that built the Empire then now would be it.

I'm being overdramatic and don't pine for the days of old, just that warlike attitude that we can attach to sport.

Should be proud of the male gymnasts. Weren't even suppose to make the final but they end up getting a medal. They showed spirit.

Very very proud, they showed tremendous spirit, we are commenting on the swimmers who have been happy to be journeymen

I was feeling with the Korean for a while, but at some point it just got ridiculous. It's a shitty situation and someone has to lose, either way one would've won due to a stupid rule/decision. The problem I have is that at some point she should've accepted the decision and behaved sportsmanship like.

It was a human mistake made by the time ref. That is all. It was a faulty decision, but just like in football. Human misstakes happens. It sucks for the korean girl. Lucky german girl.

The korean should have advanced. Thats it. But a decision is a decision.

Karma maybe. Through history of sports, korea have so many times, been involved in weird decisions.

From the boxing matches in the 80s (complete scandal, both in LA and Seoul) and then the football crap in 2002. The stolen gold in 2004 etc. and now this....

Ian Thorpe on the BBC coverage says "look" a lot. Even starts sentences with it.

Apart from that, he's a charming, knowledgeable man. Good on the BBC for getting him.

We won't know unless they release a synched video showing the official clock overlayed on the match so we can see where it started and stopped.

Knowing the IOC... yeah, we're never seeing that video.
Surely we can just time it ourselves given a little time and effort, no? Somewhere in korea, some dude in his basement is already on the job.

Yeah, it's weird. Maybe an Australian thing? Starting a sentence with 'look' is kinda defensive.

BBC has a good track record of getting knowledgeable people, i love that they have Michael Johnson on board, such a good character to have on the team, think this is his 3rd olympics with the bbc
