I don't think She wants to do sponsorships until after she graduates from her high school. Something about if she does she has to leave her highschool or something.

I wish she did take the sponsorships though, It would be nice to see someone different as the face of US swimming.

She should for her financial future. Now is her time to bank, not continue the happy memories of her high school swim team

This is why I hate the media at times. They were building so much bull Lochte taking phelps place this year that it now backfired.

He is a good swimmer tho but don't fall for the hype until they prove themselves.

He added to it also saying this was going to be his Olympics, nothing wrong with talking a little smack many of the top men's swimmers seem to but at least back it up better.

lol? welcome to the olympics, 20-30 years ago it was the United States and the soviet union gobbling up the gold. Before those two, it was Britain and France, now china's entered the fray.

The olympics have, and always will be a playground for the super powers. Everyone else has to specialise and hope for the best.
Given enough time I don't think anyone will be able to specialise because everything will be taken.

As you can tell I have a nihilistic approach to life these days.

No, she didn't. She won Gold in the 200m medley at the 2011 Worlds and Gold in the 200m and 400m medley in the Asian Games. She was competing against adults in the provincial championships in China at age 10 or 11. Totally asinine to accuse of doping just cause she's Chinese.
Nobody is accusing her of doping because he is Chinese. People can be so dense

Same with Jordan Weaver in gymnastics. Jordan Wieber this, Jordan Wieber that. Where is Jordan Wieber? On the sideline while two of her teammates have surged past her to make the finals.

Naw. Going pro means she would not be able to compete on the collegiate level and would forgo any scholarships she would have gotten as an amateur.

Shit happens. Better to be grounded than overconfident. He'll recover.

Anyone notice that an advertisement for the Today show just spoiled the result of the 100 M Backstroke when they talked about Missy Franklin winning her first gold medal and how you should learn about it "tomorrow on today". .

I missed that but not my nightly local NBC news giving all the results of what we are watching tonight. I already knew all the results due to following it live but they screwed up.

Want to listen to these gymnastics commentators melt down over what is going to happen tonight.

You should have seen the racist comments people were making about Gabby Douglas yesterday on Facebook when she secured her spot. I feel bad for Wieber but those are the breaks. You win some and lose some.

Yeah I don't believe what happened to Weiber was fair but its the way it is.

Girls gymnastics is very much like that. Career peaks only last a year or two at best. People are constantly being passed.

That's why I think Wieber cried the way she did because with the way women's gymnastics are, you are constantly getting passed up by younger, more talented people. Jordan realized this was basically her one shot in her career to win a medal and didn't get it.

Ohh I knew the results well beforehand to thanks to ESPN scrolling it down below while i was watching something unrelated but i didnt care. But my girlfriend has been attempting to avoid spoilers (like not watching news shows, or going to say Yahoo.com etc.) and was like "Wait what!!!! she must win this race cause they just said she got a individual gold medal and at this point she hasn't". I confirmed and verified both Missy winning and that at this point NBC hasn't shown it in primetime and her other medal was bronze. I feel like the advertisement was meant for the commercial break following the race not the commercial break going into said race.

I guess she's supposed to remain in her fairer-skinned teammates's shadow. No excelling for her!

People are dumb.

but GB got a bronze today in a sport it hasn't any luck in for a century, so it can happen.

The Olympics are lame as fuck anyway, you've got to nurture an athlete from childhood so he can compete in his teens/early 20's every 4 years. For the state funding it, that's a lousy return on investment.

And is money even that important? Canada spends scads of money and sends a huge team and gets very little return every Olympics from what i recall.

to an extent. The will of the athlete is probably the most important factor. Can't deny that money provides facilities, diet, and in some cases better coaching.

And remind me which country got Gold in that event?

Probably the only time I wish I could view NBC's coverage. I wanted to see team USA in Male Gymnastics but BBC barely showed their routines.

They are the hottest team. *.*

I hope she realizes that at the end of the day a gold medal is a gold medal and if they win the team event they are heavy favorites in 10 years from now no one will remember where her gold came from.
