So I'm guessing their aren't any events on since it's 5am in London.. When do games start back up again? How many hours if anyone can tell?
 
While watching the swimming competition I realized that the difference between first, middle and last place is a matter of tenths of a second. Even the people who don't win a medal still are competing on a serious level. Not really news but I never thought about it that way.

She has earned a reputation for going pretty crazy on the final turn, though. Here she is in 2011, on the individual medley, going from 5th to 1st (and matching a world record) on the final leg with that freestyle burst:

In the women’s 200 IM, China’s Shiwen Ye came from out of nowhere to win the gold medal. She went into the final turn in 5th-place, and didn’t stop until she was the first one to the final touch, which includes making up a 1.4 second gap on then-leader Ariana Kukors of the United States (who by the way is also the World Record holder).

The way that Ye swims the IM makes the race infinitely more exciting. No matter where swmimers are positioned going into the final 50, you know that Ye will be lurking. Take that rush you get when you see a great breaststroker charging the field on the third leg of an IM, and double it.

NBC is finally getting around to airing the 4x100 individual medley on the west coast and after seeing interviews with both Lochte and Phelps I wish neither had won. *Douche chill*

This is just the new NBC tactics. In the past you could watch the olympics practically all day on TV. Now with the internet etc they can do exclusive deals and crap. Why do I have to have a subscription to their news cable channel for instance to be able to watch the olympics online.

Kinda feel bad saying it but Id love to see Phelps lose another event just to see the NBC meltdown. You know they have so much preplanned shit setup for "World record Olympian" Phelps and if he blows 1 more event its all out the window. Though with the lackluster concern he has shown for the olympics maybe I shouldnt feel so bad its all ego at this point for him.

I don't know, they were quick to have and show pre-recorded interviews talking about how he didn't train until late and etc.
 
lol I love this Russian guy. He cried during an interview at Beijing when they scored the Chinese higher than the Americans and was adamant throughout the games that the Chinese were using under-aged children for the gymnastics team.

I'd rather see neither of them win. Whatever happened to Australia being a power house in swimming? Surely they have someone to steal the gold from those two douchers.

Im sorry, really really sorry but if you wanna blame anybody for NBC's bad first day - you gonna have to Blame ESPN and CBS.

WHY?

Because the IOC went to CBS and they told them to bid, but that fucking asswipe Moonves stated NO. Even though they and Turner would have been much more successful with the games.

Then we have the Curious Case of ESPN. Disney outright TOLD the IOC that they wanted to be the NUMBER ONE SPONCER WORLD WIDE for the games. They were willing to pay 1.4 BILLION for the games up to 2018. But the IOC wanted the rights to 2020. ESPN would have done the same thing as they did in Wimby and the Open Tournament - tape delay the fuck out of it. Worse than NBC has done it. And would have raised their cable tax to a point where the whole cable industry would have melted into oblivion.

Fox didnt have the tools, nor the network man power to do it.

So its NBC and Comcast who are the only people left to do it. And this is the way its going to be for the next 3 summer and 2 winter games. Because nobody from the other networks have the balls.

So your compaining does nothing. Your whining does nothing. You want to throw eggs, Do it at Moonves's house, not Costas's. Go blame Disney than Comcast. All this complaining is a fucking joke, because you all read what they going to do and if you didnt your just a part of the damn problem with Sports TV right now. You pay and pay so the fuck much but you dont even know what the fuck your watching, who is behind the deals and why the fuck they do what they do. Its a joke.

ESPN didn't tape delay Wimbledon. I thought their coverage was phenomenal...especially with the DirecTV extra court coverage.
 
Is it just me or was the opening ceremony pretty lame? The only good part I thought was the forging of the rings and the design of the torch.

They should have had some King Arthur or Braveheart stuff rather than the kids in hospital beds and that musical number or whatever...didnt learn anything about london
