Great routine by Orozco!

So do we know what the final standings for the day is in Mens Gymnastics? The commentators are acting like everything is fine but USA is kinda screwing up left and right. Obviously Olympics jitters but it has to be concerning.

sport should be shown live.

if you want to watch it later that's your decision and keep away from results. good for you but show stuff live.

They continue to hype up the men's gymnastics team, and they always suck. These dudes almost always end the night crying. The women are the only gymnasts worth watching, unless you like lulz. PEACE.

A "quad off" between two of the German cyclists, Forstermann and Griepel (from Greg Henderson's (NZ cyclist) twitter here):

Only one winner there I think....

These are the rules
"A team match consists of nine bouts in a round-robin between each team’s members. Scores are the total number of touches for the team. "
It's more exciting than that description in practice, because it's a "relay" format. So the first bout is to 5, e.g. Italy can be down to Korea 2-5. The next bout is to 10, so if the second Italian does a lot better than her opponent and scores 8 touches to 2, she can be leading 10-7. It goes like that to 45 (or it might not get to 45 if time runs out -- each bout has a limit of 3 minutes).

Just a reminder to everyone interested in fencing, Men's Sabre individual is this upcoming morning. It's the fastest of the events, and can be difficult to understand, unfortunately.

Is the NBC commentary recorded during the event or is it post?

During the women's 400IM one of the commentary guys has constantly repeated why his eyes are on Ye as the one to watch out for and how she's gonna win. Though maybe im just reaching

Edit: At the end "I just had a feeling about Ye Shiwen"...

So when do you guys think we will stop breaking world records? there has to be a human limit so we'll see the day when no one will be able to break anymore records

Considering the streams from NBC don't have commentaries, I'd say they're most likely recorded after the fact. Send enough staff/crew to get footage of everyone, call the race as it happens, edit together a pre-game package once you know the results, edit the play-by-play as needed.

Oh, that reminds me... what happened with those high tech body swim suits everyone was using in Beijing? Were they made illegal?

Seems that way. Someone linked at article from 09 saying that the ban would be(and since, was) enacted in 2010. 130 WR's were broken during the span they were allowed.

It seems too ridiculous to be true but man I would not be surprised.

Did they air the 4x100 women relay yet? stepped out at Meredith an hour or so back and they were in the pool again when I came back 8 minutes later.

Wtf... shopped right?

Nah, these guys do some serious leg weights:

That's Chris Hoy rather than Forstermann, but you get the point!

I thought NBC sent 2700 staff to London for the Olympics, surely that's enough!

Its safe to say most athletes who go to the Olympics are the best in the world.

Not really. There's only one "best in the world" at anything so even if there were only two people competing in every single event that would only mean 50% of the athletes at the Olympics are the best in the world.

There's no way the quads on guy to the right are real? It has to be some kind of photo distortion? It reminds me of that guy who got injections in his biceps to make them look freakishly huge.

Look at the quad on the right:

man if that's real I'm in shock

WTF, NBC isn't even showing the full replay of May-Walsh. It's one thing to delay, but don't fucking skip parts.

Lesson learned. Stream it from now on. Fuck you, NBC.

They are real, but there is a bit of barrel distortion going on in that photo, which is why both guys outside legs look so much bigger.

Quadriceps are one of those muscle groups that seems to have basically infinite growth potential. The more you train, the bigger they get, you will wear your knees out before they stop growing.

Really wish I could rip stuff from my DirecTV DVR. So many cool/funny little things I've caught during my 15+ hours of recording thus far, and I want to share it with GAF.

Synthol was pretty much the first thing I thought of. Cyclists have absolutely insane quads and whatnot but shit... that doesn't seem right.
