From what I can tell the US has not sent female gymnasts to more than one games since 2000, where 2 members of the 1996 team competed. Short shelf life indeed.

Chinese girl doesn't want her silver. she's off.

They broke the world record, twice iirc, and a very blurry and unclear video analysis takes their victory away, no chance to appeal per the rules, etc. Bad manners indeed, but she has a right to be furious.

That Chinese one was too tight to call imo.

Even if so, it shouldn't take 15mins to sort it all out. Embarrassing and awful thing to do to the athletes.

Yeah I agree. Delaying the men's race because of this is fucking awful. Chinese storming out is the fucking worst of all of this. That's fucking terrible.

One of the comments.

"Ye Shiwen, well done! Truly giving face [a credit to] Chinese people, embarrassing foreigners. Ye Shiwen, be strong and don’t be afraid, you have strong support behind you, don’t pay any attention to the stinky farts those butts are letting out. China will not only be a powerful nation in sports, it will also be a powerful military and economic nation that sooner or later bring those discontented countries to their knees."

Think they said a rule wasn't broken afterall, but no appeal is allowed. so that's it.

The fact noone can appeal is the dumbest idea I've ever heard ...

What? I didn't watch and I know less than nothing about cycling but that seems more than terrible.

Perhaps worse than that fencing semi-final.

Even if Gabby doesn't come back she can be glad she did it on her first try

seems to be part of the sport. German commentator said that the men's team lost the World Championship in a similar fashion, sure it sucks but as long as its consitently applied

As gutted as I am for the GB girls, the Chinese team didn't deserve that. That decision was complete horseshit. If she was in front (and it really didn't look like she was in the video) then it was millimetres... plus she actually eased off to stop it happening.

This statement has me cracking up.

Chinese girl leaving, coaches (in yellow) trying to tell her to stay.

Been watching Gymnastics and Fencing rather than Cycling.
Is anyone able to explain roughly whats going on there? I roughly understand the Brit offense earlier, so is anyone able to say how the Chinese one differs?
I'm assuming it must in some way for one to result in disqualification and the other in relegation, or was it being exaggerated earlier and the Brits were actually only relegated also?

This was actually the first time I had tuned into Olympic cycling at all this year, and what do I see but this bullshit? If the rules are this stupid I don't need to watch.

Also why aren't there any cameras horizontally placed at the finish line? For precise observation?
