The Stein's at the Bavarian market at Winter Wonderland were 1ltr. They also cost more than 2 pints, so you got screwed really, but it was fun and the DJ/MC guy there was utterly hilarious.

I think they are 1 litre. Regardless, you'll get pissed after 2 (1 in my case) and they seem to be able to withstand a good smash on the table. TBH it's the closet you can get to Bierfest on a Saturday night ;).

Seriously can we add karaoke to the meet up again. The same place with the shit Korean videos playing at the same time would be awesome (plus we can drink some "hype" again)

Whereabouts was that? Saw the pictures when I was a lurker but couldn't place it. Had one dude look like he'd been shopped in.

Edit: Just missed my fucking stop posting this inane drivel. Gospel Oak here I come!

On Charing Cross Road. Haha yeah that was J Tourettes, he was a bit of a legend round these parts till he got himself perma'd. He still comes to the meets though so you'll get to meet him.

It's Hite actually!

That place is kind of expensive and the song selection is a but cack. It's still good fun (hence why I suggested it) but Karaoke box also has a bar / dance floor area.

I don't think a museum would be ideal for such a large group of people really.

So far it's looking like Trocadero for those who want to meet in the day, then onto that Bavarian place for the evening then finishing up in a karaoke place.

Sounds good to me, they have fruity beers for girly types like me at the Bavarian place.

What Mike said, let us know when you're here and I'm sure a load of us will assemble to say hi!

I am out most likely.

Always liked the idea of going to Shoreditch however I find the pubs better to talk. Shoreditch doesn't have that many quiet pubs after 8 or 9 on Sat.

Not sure if this is the best thread to ask in (I posted in the Brit-gaf thread in Community OT as well) but I need help from London-gaf! I'm looking for restaurant recommendations . Going to a show with my sister in a few weeks, we're staying in the Shoreditch area so somewhere to eat round there or near Victoria Station would be good. Not looking for anything too fancy as I'm a (relatively) poor student but somewhere classier than Mcdonalds plz. Pub grub is fine as long as it's tasty! Thanks in advance :)

Affordable places (ie less than £15 a head? And I assume you aren't asking for typical high street chains), I'd say Byron Burgers aren't a bad shout, really. There are a lot of arseholes out there that hate them because they're popular now, but they're a decent burger for a decent price. There's a nice Thai place on Old Street called, uh, Thai Thai which has a cool vibe, it's like you're in a queue at a Thai themed ride at Disneyland or something. If you're into pizza, La Porchetta is nice (not sure which one would be nearest you, depends where in Shoreditch you are - http://laporchetta.net/ - I've only been to the one in Camden, despite living about 2 minutes from the Clerkenwell one). If you want an Indian, obviously go to Brick Lane and just fill your boots, really.

Finally, if you want a good old fashioned British meal (and I mean that - none of this 'chicken tikka is our national dish' malarky, I mean proper, old school English food), check out St Johns near Smithfields market (a Mecca for meat in general, that area). It's a bit above £15 a head (maybe double) but it's very... authentic. It's one of the few classically English restaurants around, and it has a Michelin star I believe.

Burger King is classier than McDonalds, fact.

Thanks for the advice! I'd say we're probably looking for something less than £20 a head, so St Johns is too pricey. Only really avoiding chains that I can have back home (Glasgow). Someone in the BritGAF thread suggested Byron Burgers as well so will definitely consider there. But I'll pass on your suggestions to my sister and see what she thinks. Cheers!

I would be up for this but it's on my birthday and I promised myself I wouldn't spend another birthday with GAF.

We're not GAF, we're people. in the world.

it depends. If you have friends, go see them. If you don't, come out with us and we'll be your friends.

Tash has also promised a cheeky snog in the toilets to anyone who comes to a GAF meet on their birthday, so there's that.
