Lords v2.0 off to a strong start!First 5 days:•Steam: 10x+ units vs Jan promo•PS5: 5x+ vs pre-v2.0 promo(Same discount on both). Approaching 200K units sold since v2.0 launch—later this week.

Huge thanks to all of you.

You spoke, we listened—and acted. 18 months of hard work paying off. Great to see the turnaround of such an important IP.Players First.

Bought it after the 2.0 update and the hype it got here.
So far its nice, far better than the one from 2014? But also way behind a From game.

I hope more developers do this. The sooner they realize that this is what most paying gamers want, the very very vocal minority will no longer hold the rest of us hostage.

I'm double dipping on PC since I've moved over all my Souls-gaming there due to free online. Lotf is a great Souls-like and respect to the developers for constantly improving the game. Their hard work should be rewarded.

It's the best take of this sub genre outside of the titles From have made imo.
I would still take nioh, lies of p or the surge games over this one tbh.

Unless you mean something that is super similar to dark souls in most aspects like locations, art design etc.

I mean as a total package that provides an overall experience that feels most similar to the From games.

Yes the combat is better in Nioh (nioh's combat is also better than all of From's titles IMO) and lies of P has better build variety but in terms of the way it all comes together, this latest Lords of the Fallen is the best of the rest as far as I'm concerned.

Game is still a total stutterfest and runs like garbage on ps5. Where these "18 months of hard work" went? To dedicated jump button?
Strange. I played thru the whole thing on PS5 about a year ago and never had any issues to my recollection.

Personally thougt it was good enough for me to double dip on pc with this update. But to each their own.

I'm one of those 200000 but I gotta be honest - it's not great so far. Only played for an hour or two but have little desire to continue.

Combat is okay but the starting area is SUPER boring and the constant switching with the lamp is pissing me off. There's no mystery or intrigue to anything and it feels kinda tryhard with the way things are described, deliberately vague.

It's hard to describe or to pinpoint what it is, but it feels off.

I'm going to be the negative nancy here. I don't think this game is worth playing, even with the updates.

I just beat the 'Spurned Progeny' boss and don't know if it's worth continuing. Every boss has a been a first try one and done, and mobs are barely speed bumps. It feels kind of braindead. I tried coop to spice it up, and it was even worse. Just two people whirlwind murdering through everything instantly.

This is by far the easiest souls-like I've played, and it's killing enjoyment. Where is the challenge? Lies of P completely shits on this game, and 2.0 is all I've ever played from it.

EDIT: Cool as shit art design and fantastic level design though

Also, this guy does a GREAT job of describing my experience:

Keep playing dude, the way the world and art direction comes together later on is chef's kiss.jpg

Then again, if anyone starts the game with the mindset "it's not a FROM souls-like" , well, it's obvious that he/she is not gonna jive with it.

Personal opinion : this is one of the best - if not the best - souls-like of the past few years, art direction is sublime, combat feels weighty and meaty (after the patching), interconnected levels design is spot-on and the general Grimdark atmosphere is a 9/10.

A far, FAR cry from the super mediocre 2014 game, this could have easily been a FROM spin-off title in the state that's in right now, it's that motherfucking good.

Good for them. Game isn't my cup of tea but the devs put in some major effort to revamp the originally not so great game.

It's good to see these efforts pay off!

They buy tons of games.

Very well deserved, playing it for the first time and I'm having an amazing time. The bosses are indeed a tad too easy in general, and I wouldn't mind having more challenge, but I'm of the opinion that the pursuit of boss complexity over level design has lead to a sharp decline in quality in From's own titles, so something about as difficult as a playthrough of Demon's Souls isn't really a problem to me. It's still engaging enough with all the mechanics and how they factor into exploration too.

Definitely the best level design in a non-From soulslike that I played.

I think the use of stats to uncover more of the lore depending on how it alligns with certain factions is a really cool addition too, I just don't really care about the lore itself. Too many words.

Going full agility with fist weapons.

Lies of p has better build variety? A game where there's no ranged, magic and only 5 arms? Good lord, lords of the fallen must be even more ultra, mega ass than I had thought.

To be clear, by that I mean the weapon customisation.

I don't see how anyone who has played this lord's of the fallen game (performance issues at launch aside) can call it "ultra, mega ass" with any degree of sincerity.

Hashassin Hashassin I asked for your opinion on the game, not 3rd hand cliff notes from somebody else.

Unless you're the person who created that reddit post?

I indeed forgot to add my opinion. Apologies.

I can meet you halfway and call it mega ass, but this game is nearly 2 years old and still mediocre after who knows how many updates. It might look nice and has atmosphere but that's also achievable by playing other games with that and more.

Just too little too late I guess. Perhaps if debs stopped kicking out their unfinished rushed products and took the time to finalise their creations, this game could've been received way better.

It's possible even on a smaller scope. Lies of p knocks this game out of the park.

Edit: extra sentence added.

I read the reddit post and...all of it is obviously personal preference/opinion.

- personally, I don't find the game to be "floaty", on the contrary, everything feels "right" to me after patch 1.7.

- He complaints about lag and minifreezes during certain actions, I encountered no such thing on the PS5 Pro during my 60 hours playthrough.

- He complaints about the DIY bonfires in that you actually have to have the appropriate seed item as to create one - fucking hell, enter the otherworld for a couple of mins, kill the winged ladies or the Charon - like ones and BAM, problem solved , you're not gonna be running out of seeds anytime soon.
I must have had 20 seeds left in my inventory by the time I finished the game.

- He complaints about the enemies "already being there" waiting for you when you shift to the otherworld - lol wut ?

- He complaints about the GFX losing their WOW factor after a while : well fuck me since the games visuals actually become more impressive the more you push through the levels, I just don't get it.

- He complaints about being able to plant only one bonfire seed and being able to travel only between the vestiges - again, lol wut ? What did he want, 10 different DIY bonfires/checkpoints to fast travel to ?

- He complaints about your health bar getting halved when you enter the otherworld : so, pretty much like every FROM dark souls game whenever you're not in human form ?

That whole post is a rant and just goes to show that the dude needed to vent 'cause this isn't a FROM game.

Also : some times, it's all about the proper "timing" and personal mood , plus, souls-like fatigue is a real thing especially after everyone and their grandmas started making/copying this formula.

Shit, back in the day, I got the Witcher 3 on day 1 and I stopped playing it after 3-4 hours thinking "is this what the hype is all about ? Nope..." - fast forward to 1 year later where I actually spent some quality time with it and now it's one of my top 10 games of all time.

People say Lies of P is "better" but fuck me if that game wasn't the biggest FROM copycat ever, now that's what I'd call a "safe" game...

Maybe next time they'll be able to release the sequel in a non beta/rushed state and keep fixing it for almost 2 years straight 'cause let's be honest, the game would have scored/reviewed better if it didn't have all those problems on release day, I do agree with some users that maybe it's a "too little too late" situation, having said that, for 20 Eurodollars and for the state that it's now it's a steal.

This team is genuinely the worst at tech I have ever seen. They probably code everything with IA, theres no way that the big feature, shared progression, is completely broken at launch and they keep saying nothing about it

Lords has great build variety, one of the things that I thought was much better than Lies of P.
It follows the traditional Souls path of strength/dex builds and then magic/faith (inferno and radiance) and all points in between. Tons of gear/armor for build variants too.

Lords >>> Lies of P for me easily. I've made several runs through Lords, Lies was a one n done.
