I dropped this for personal reasons on release after getting what turned out to be the end of Chapter 1 (the burning Bear boss) and I am finding it rough, keep in mind that I enjoy and have beaten almost every Souls like aside from this and Lords of the Fallen

I've managed to get stuck between Tony the Tiger and a beast in a hole where you find the Loong Scales, though I think I can beat this beast, I've been close once or twice. My question is, should I just power through at this point or does it just get harder than this? There seems to be a lack of Level between bosses like most games like this

Dropped the game after I encountered Scorpionlord. I just hate how paper thin, barebones and repetitive combat is in this game and it's getting in the way constantly. Not going back, ever.

Just like you OP. Got this at launch, but got up to the second act final boss and dropped it until about a week ago. I've been addicted since. Currently on the final chapter and I haven't really found it all that difficult tbh. It's not a cakewalk by any stretch, but if you beat FROM games, this is much easier imo.

The biggest advantage is not losing your "souls". You will always keep you xp, so even if you find yourself struggling, just do regular enemies and farm up a little. Since you also mentioned playing it early and coming back, invest in buying the maps at shrines if you haven't already. That wasn't in the game originally and has been a complete life saver for me.

Lastly, not to get too spoilery, but make sure you upgrade your drinks and gourds (you met this NPC in chapter 1). I didn't even remember about that until I was about halfway into chapter 3 and since then, the game has been fairly easy for me. There is also a certain upgrades you can get right before the final boss of chapter 2 which are helpful.

It’s not truly a souls game, but there are a ton of similarities and a few bosses can be difficult. But I appreciate being able to level up and go OP.

I can’t wait for potential DLC or a follow up to this game. Not to mention this was their first attempt? Exciting

A bit of Practice and First Prince of the Flowing Sands is done (I think that was the mini boss) and thanks to that map tip, I'm missing a bit from the start of this rea so now to go get killed there lol

Yep, that's it. You can always fast travel to any shrine you find, no cost or anything, you just need to be at a shrine to do so. But yea, the maps are a major key, at least for me. Chapter 1 isn't so bad, you can probably find everything without getting lost too much chapter 2 and 3 through? Wheeww, God bless y'all who were able to find a bunch of stuff before maps. The chapters become a lot more open

You can level up your character, obtain better gear and increase your stats. Go to the Fox in Chapter 2.

I died more on the big headed blue baby than anything else in the game. And while the game does get harder, the more tools you have and the more you play the better equipped you are to tackle the difficulty. Personally it was my GotY so I wouldn't quit and I think the payoff is worth it.

As an aside, you should try Lords of the Fallen again, they've patched it multiple times and it's in a much better place. It also has a bunch of new settings so you can adjust that will change the difficulty if you want.

I will be doing, it didn't run great on my older GPU on release so left it for when I upgraded, I have since and never got back to it

Well as this a lttp, I'm at the final boss in the game. And I gotta say, for how much I said this game rocked earlier in this thread, chapter 6 is flat out ASS. Awful bosses, awful world overlay. Kind of wish it just ended chapter 5 and went straight to the last boss. Id put it this way, if this chapter was probably earlier in the game, id probably drop it. Thankfully it's a short chapter, probably shortest in the game

So Chapter 2 is massive huh? So much I've overlooked and missed and it keeps going

I realised what makes the Souls games special in terms of combat, most non From Soft games don't get Poise right on Enemies, they will just keep attacking through your attacks, Lies of P was horrendous for that, for a character so fast at attacking in this, you'd think a little poke or something would interrupt a bit better

I love it! Currently on chapter five. The designs are brilliant, and I find the gameplay loop very addictive. So many cool boss fights!

Finally beat the end boss of Chapter 2 and damn what a long ass chapter, apparently 3 is longer than this! Getting into the nitty gritty of the combat now and seem to go for a quick smash build with the Cloud staff

Something cool I noticed, Health and defence stats don't seem to matter as much as I though, I reignited my sparks and moved them into Stamina and Mana and its made a massive difference, I did look up a 100% guide to see if I'm missing anything and nope, doing well here
