Yeah, though to note they've staffed it up a ton afterwards, since you can't really support the level of content release and features and etc. etc. etc. they want otherwise.
Anything they print at rare will at least spend a period of time significantly lower than its current value.

Far and away the most logical way to do it would be to have a phased rollout, probably by block. I think every year except Ice Age has at least 2-3 really spicy options.

Do you mean the image adjuster, or is just grabbing the image off google and upload to their template fine? I was also thinking about doing the extra $15 for image correction, which I think is a must...

Horizon Canopy and Rishadan Port would have their prices permanently decimated if rare. They've never had a reprint.

Rishadan Port with its reputation and previous DCI status can definitely be a mythic, but Horizon Canopy doesn't really pass even the most generous standard there, it's much more likely to just get crushed like you say. Scapeshift I think is similar -- doesn't have the right wow factor to be a mythic. Chalice and Vial have both already been rare in a Masters set so they're not gonna get upgraded now (and both can probably survive another printing without completely tanking.)
I'm... not sure what you're trying to tell me. Chalice totally went down in value for a while after its first reprint.

The Iconic Masters spoiler will be done before noon on Friday so I'm just kind of resigning myself to having blown it if it turns out to be in that set, I guess.

I spent $80 each on my Ports. I might cry a little if they use the Jerry Tiritilli artwork.

Yeah, and of course their launch content was likely much slimmer than what Magic Arena is likely trying to do on launch. I'd say Hearthstone's original playset was the equivalent of the old Magic annual core sets rather than a full Standard rotation or more.

Disagree with the bolded. Scapeshift is a sorcery that wins the game on the spot and tutors multiple permanents straight into play. It's a unique effect that could easily be justified as Mythic
I'm a pretty big fan of the Ultimate Guard Sidewinder 100+. Fits 100 double sleeved cards and opens up on top with space to pull the cards out.
This is the 80, but 100 is the same. Think it has four magnets, so shouldn't open up.
Not a fan of the Ultra Pro Satin Towers because of the width, wider than a card, but doesn't fit an oversized card. Hate wasted space and there really isn't anything you can do with it.

Ya, Port is a hard one to pin down. It loses value for sure, but how much depends, and any rebound in price also depends. Legacy isn't what it used to be in paper, but Ports are a 4 of in D&T, one of the most accessible decks. I can see it being mythic, but it only earned that distinction on the back of not being reprinted. If it's rare then its price is destroyed, but I'm not confident that rare is gonna happen. If rare happens, I'd legit think it was because MTGO needs it so bad.
Scapeshift and Vial probably couldn't even hold their price if they were printed at mythic. Chalice end price probably honestly depends on what is reprinted alongside it.

I purchased a custom mat of Transmetropolitan art around 18 months ago and it's still holding up great. Make sure the image you use fits their recommended size and fidelity suggestions, use their template, and you should be golden.

Been testing and trying out Treasure Map in my Orzhov Tokens deck, and I get so much mana I've been trying out Overwhelming Splendor. I can consistently cast it by turn 5 or earlier and it's ridiculous.
Also Dusk to Dawn is the perfect card for this deck, which is hilarious because Dawn gets back Angel of Invention (!!!) from the GY.

My reasoning is basically that when they do mythic upgrades for these things, they're generally for cards that are of high general utility and impressive profile. Goyf, Dark Confidant, Clique, Snapcaster are all creatures that have been high profile since their release and been featured in numerous competitive decks across many formats. Cavern of Souls is a land with applicability across every format and an enormous range of possible decks. Scapeshift is just the engine of the one deck and totally useless outside it so I think it's a less compelling upgrade there.
I dunno about this just because Chalice and Vial were both in MMA and four years laterr they're worth 3x or more what they were then. Another printing should dent them but it's not gonna send them back to $10 territory.
It using the full ruleset is one of the few things we know for absolute certain.

The groupon "early bird discount" for Hascon was extended to anyone who buys tickets before the convention ends.

I don't think there's any particular criteria on that given that Arcbound Ravager is a rare and Dark Confidant is a mythic. I don't know that I think Vendilion Clique is all that ubiquitous either.
I would think Scapeshift is an easy call to get upgrade to Mythic given their attitudes on classifying mythics (either in standard or in these sets) even though I think most players would consider it borderline since it does nothing in most draft decks (unless you made a format where Valukut was an uncommon or something ridiculous). It fits the archetype for Green Sorcery Mythic and fits the criteria of a constructed staple that ends games on the spot.

Hey guys! I'm looking to get into MTG properly with the launch of Ixalan. I was wondering how you guys normally get going with a new expansion? Do you buy booster boxes? Just a few boosters? Some premade decks and single cards to adjust?

that depends on what formats you're planning on playing. If you can get a couple friends together a booster display is great for some casual drafts otherwise buying singles is generally better than opening packs.
If you want to blow money, booster boxes are the way to go. You can expect to get no more than 2 of any rare (one of most rares you open) and maybe 2 of for uncommons. You might get playset of the commons, but not all of them. Boosters are pretty much foil lotteries, or for drafting.
A lot of people get a common and uncommon playset for like $30-40 and then get the rares they want. This is the best way to get want you need from the set, but could still end up costing a lot.
If you want to play casually, maybe hit up FNM, would recommend maybe the deckbuilders toolkit and maybe a planeswalker deck you find interesting. Trade or buy the other stuff you want for the deck play limited some to get more cards.

I only buy a box when the set is good and I can get some friends over to play draft or sealed at home. Just buying packs to open them is mostly a bad idea. If I only want a couple of cards I order the ones I want online, that is always cheaper in the long term. Sometimes I do buy a bundle for the life counter dice and a pack of full art lands / tokens if they are included. But I always play with the booster packs instead of opening them outright.
If you really want to get started it's just best to look up some budget decks on mtggoldfish.com and buy into some staple singles for the deck you like. Other than that you can start drafting at your local game shop if you rather play limited.

That choice of cards is a little funny to me, that classification seems really implicitly clear to me and I'm not sure how to explain why. I guess again the fact that Bob is in a ton of different decks while Ravager is seen as specific to one archetype plays into it for me.
Re: Scapeshift, part of it too is looking at what spells have made mythic in the existing Masters Editions. There aren't a ton total but most of them are hugely destructive, produce major board presence, or generate a ton of resource value. The only one that's kind of in the same neighborhood as Scapeshift is Natural Order, but I think getting a creature from your library directly into play has a much more obvious direct utility.
I'm probably setting myself up for disappointment with this Arena reveal. I really want it to be good, and also be available soon. Since Duels' demise I've been going back to Hearthstone for my digital card game urges and that game irritates me a lot. Both because I feel infinitely behind after not playing for a year, and there's just a lot of cards that get my goat for some reason or another.
At MINIMUM, I'm guessing they will start taking sign-ups for a Beta that starts before the end of the year at the end of this presentation.
I would also be shocked if it wasn't playable on the Hascon show floor

Except Miren, the Moaning Well was a good card and the land side of this card is better?
It is a may ability tough, so you can always keep the front and if you really need the lifegain flip it and sac a creature.

sure it's no doubt better but I find it hard to imagine a deck that wants both halves or wants the land enough to work for it.
