Rather than cutting the vas deferens—as would be done in a vasectomy—a Vasalgel procedure involves the injection of a polymer contraceptive directly into the vas deferens.
FUCK. NO.

I'll just wear my Fedora until then

This almost won.

seems like there is a deferens force for everything these days

But this took it.

So...nothing will come out if you do this....? That would be really fucking weird. I'll stick to condoms I think.

Sperm is a very, very, very minuscule amount of your 'wad'. Like, maybe the clasp part of a big pearl necklace .. about 2% I think. So you're still going to need a roll of toilet paper next to your desk.

I'm all over this procedure. No more kids, no more pills for the fiance, and it's reversible just in case she finds my stash of furry porn and leaves me.

Will be covered under Obamacare I hope.

This seems to be a very bad Idea because most things used to block certain things involving a mans genital area usually make it so it no longer functions properly.

Every year I read another article about this stuff as it goes through testing. It's cool to watch science happen. Can't wait to check in next year.

Would be nice. Even if I'm with a girl long term and she's on a pill I still always use condom. Much too big thing to fully trust her.

What? Obviously I don't. 1 injection just sounds easier.

I'd have concerns over the endurance of the polymer. We couldn't have a surety on how long it would last in each patient, which would result in return trips.

I have a vasectomy last January, and I ain't even mad.

oh really, return trips? I was under the impression it was permanent until flushed out. Yeeeaaah, multiple injection through life is really not more convenient.

Although, as my friend found out when his tubes recanalized, a vasectomy isn't always permanent either.

That's under the assumption that the polymer isn't everlasting...I'd have concerns about it, but I'm not an expert on the matter. I'd get worried about it, uh, shaking loose. Then again I guess baboons got busy with all that baboon fury and it didn't matter, so I very well could be wrong in my assumption.

Wait, where is the needle injected??

This will be something else if it works/ is released.

Well, they have to go in through the rectum, punch THROUGH the colon and get into the prostate, then follow the tubes all the way down to the vas deferens, where the polymer is deposited. Then they whip it out of there, and there will probably be leftover polymer dripping from one or two places.

Or they just stick it into the vas deferens through the scrotum, inject, remove, and tell you to have a nice day.

I remember hearing about this years ago. I have a needle phobia but I don't even care — sign me up for this. My gf didn't respond well to birth control so we've gone back to condoms. It's so awesome that her sex drive is back, but it's still a bummer having to wrap it up after years of going bare (and nothing compares to finishing inside). I've been starting to seriously consider getting a vasectomy because I'm 25 and am no closer to wanting kids than I was at 15. But this sounds way better because it's more easily reversible, just in case I hit my mid-30s and my gf and I decide we want a family. This is definitely exciting news.

This is reading like the thread about british girls not knowing the difference between vulva and vagina.

The vas deferens is not located inside the penis. It is found in the scrotum, and can be palpated while, for instance, doing a self check for testicular cancer.

Maybe y'all should be looking at diagrams of male anatomy, since you seem unclear what goes where and how it all works.

I have been waiting SO DAMN LONG for this. Been waiting since it was a guy in India calling it Risug.
Cannot wait. 2017 here I come.

Cannot wait until the shoe is on the other foot. I had a terrible reaction to all the hormonal birth control methods I've tried. Nuva ring, ortho tri cyclen, and others.

After reading WHERE the injection is done, I lost almost all interest. Holy shit.

Unless you have a phobia of needles (which is beyond one's control), you're being a fucking baby. Sack up and get your prick pricked.

It is long past due that men share the burden of birth control.

I like it.

Seriously everyone...it's not a big deal. I understand a bit of trepidation around anything genital, but it's nothing. I had to have double novocaine administered because I'm a little more resistant and even that was "grin and bear it" level pain.

Thankfully my doc didn't want me to so he hit me with another dose, and we talked about him getting a stereo for his procedure room.

I'm male, but i'm not a fan of the Pill personally due to its hormonal effects. I do know some women take it to help with PMS symptoms and to regulate their cycles, but a lot of women have negative side effects.

Vasalgel is the only thing online I have ever donated money to. It resulted in my bank giving me a call as they thought someone had stolen my information.

Seeing 2017 as a possible market release really makes it feel like I'm getting my moneys worth even if I have no vas deference to get it injected into.

Condoms are horrible. The pill can have severe side effects for women, and requires you to trust your girlfriend that she doesn't secretly want to have your babies whether you're okay with it or not. Get this treatment approved already.

So much this. In top of feeling terrible when I was on them they also killed my libido which more or less defeats the purpose.
