Dragonball 112 - 195

Well it was decent overall. Arcs that didnt involve the Tenkaichi Budokai were pretty dull though they had their moments, for example, I will never forget the cruelty incarnate, demon Piccolo, incinerating Shenlong, still the best moment of the series thus far. The Goku Piccolo fight was fun too, enjoy when both characters have fun fighting.

I was glad the last arc was a return to the Tenkaichi Budokai and gave more panel time to Yamcha, who seems to have gotten weaker and irrelevant. I hope in this five year timeskip next chapter, he received some powerboost.

Only real criticism is that there needs to be more characters involved in the actual significant fighting, Goku hogging all the screen time and looks kind of goofy will still be tiring if this continues for 325+ more chps.

I won't suggest you bail on it, but DB post 195 (i.e. "Dragonball Z") is pretty legendary for it's obsession with power levels.

Nice quality in the viz shonen jump alpha thing. Anyway, I think the story is compelling at least. More should have been spent on showing Hitokiri Battōsai and all the sword skills by Himura Kenshin looked nice. I do hope Myōjin Yahiko sticks around. He seems like a good side character who needs a chance.

I dont think I will be able to remember any of these names without the assistance of the character list and wikipedia pages.

Unless rito swings for dudes, I don't think he's in. I can't wait until you guys report that male rito and female rito become two people. The series will have officially jumped a schoolbus full of sharks at that point.

As for the principal, he's a sick ass skirtchaser who finds a way to strip to his undies when he thirsts after an attractive female. Chris hansen could dedicate a whole damn episode to his sick ass.

That little arc had an... interesting conclusion. It's both less depressing than you would think and more depressing than you would think.

But yeah, the series is pretty sad, especially if you can relate (even if not to the same extent). What makes it worse is each new development gives you hope, but she keeps messing it up, so you end up getting frustrated, but then you realize you're getting frustrated at your past (or maybe current) self, so you get more depressed.

So been introducing my little brother to YYH and watching it in segments. Finished Dark Tournament Saga. One thing I noticed is wtf is up with the Sakyo and Kuwabara's sister relationship? I don't ever recall that ever happening in the manga. I mean did they really have to soften Sakyo up even though we pretty much know he's a fucked up dude all around?

Toguro's story is some manly tears shit, goddamn. So good.

One thing I'm reminded about YYH is that despite being pretty much a standard fighting shonen, in a lot of ways it's a deconstruction of fighting shonen. Keep in mind that Yusuke is a character who despite has spiritual powers already at birth, pretty much worked his way up from a normal kid to becoming Goku. This is what I like about YYH, it makes you feel like that it's logical for the characters to progress into these DBZ-esque super characters, as every moment in the series feels like it has some weight to it to their progress and character development.

I do wish YYH was more of a complete series, though. Both the anime and manga had endings that left a lot to be desired, and experiencing that all over again won't be a happy thing for me. If Togashi ever gets the chance I wouldn't mind him revisiting the series and expanding on the lore even more-so than he did, but I doubt he'll do this considering he's lazy as fuck.

Despite the whole "sympathy for Sakyo" thing in the anime, I do like it a lot better than the manga. The manga does the good moments of the anime better than the anime does, however the manga is rather disjointed in terms of art and suffers from a lot of problems both Bleach and Hunter x Hunter suffer from. While YYH never outright has HxH-esque scribbles, you can tell Togashi is pretty lazy with the art, sometimes even outright not drawing a background similar to Kubo. Guess that's another thing Kubo stole from Togashi.

Also the techno soundtrack they switched to in Chapter Black Saga fucking sucks goddamn.

Been a while since I actually finished a series, but man was this a fun read.

It goes way off the deep-end in the last 5 volumes or so, almost like the author wrote himself into a corner. But it's an iconic series. It's a shame Iron Wok Jan isn't still in print, it's similar as one of those crazy shonen/cooking mangas with tons of technical detail that you can nonetheless ignore.

PS: Just wanted to give a shout-out to Mafuyu from Oresama Teacher for being so awesome. That manga also gets me cracking up quite a bit. Easily the funniest shoujo I've read.

Lazy days man...lazy days. But TBH, so little happened in almost all those chapters except for like fucking Freezing. Just for you upandaway, let me level this up a bit.

These latest reads were good:
Aunt Tits - Sleeping in same bed with your aunt and being uncontrollably drawn to sucking on her tits? But I think drill hair is up to something with that make-out kiss.
Beelzebub - Beel thinking it is a race was funny. That distance between Beel/Oga still doesn't make sense and sounds like BS.
Chronicles of Street Observation Research - Dude popped a boner modeling naked for a female art class. Greatest manga ever? And how does Rika not know what it is?
Freezing - Does Chiffon now get to run on snake way? I want more details on her back-story and I still think she is a clone of Maria. She doesn't think she is human cause she was probably modded to be mostly nova.
Hitsugime no Chaika - Lolicon and mysterious back-story of the little girl's daddy being a bad bad king. Cue death scene and unknown way she escaped. The flashback for Toru was nice but his little girl shenanigans...also nice. Chaika seriously hits every check box on making a character moe to ridiculousness (not in a good way).
Kaichou wa Maid-sama - Daddy's back! His reason for leaving was fucking stupid but his return was so random. Some good jokes and actually something happening in Maid-sama means I like.
Kuragehime - Hanamori steals the show in this manga. So swag and hilarious. Kuranosuke totally wants that fujoshi ass but his virgin bro is on the task.
Let's Lagoon - Time travel mix-ups are fun.
MMY - Cheerful little chapter but the demon chicks have nice racks. Also, the two girls diving into hero's bed was great along with the maid offering her "services." What a great maid.
Oresama Teacher - Mafuyu goes home and Takaomi definitely wants that illegal stuff. He's got the best girl in manga so he has good taste. They seem to be getting a bit closer. But you can't figure out if Mafuyu is supposed to be the romantic dense or not. I think she is just not used to it but still acknowledges it unlike most shitty female protags with that trope.
Oyasumi Punpun - Already did this one!

Dengeki Daisy - Eh, it was the close-to kidnapping I wanted but really stupid. Kurosaki got there way to fast before the sexual harassment kicked in.
Denpa Kyoushi - Lolicon stuff again... Options is like trying to get him to teach again by doing infiltration shit using her super powa. I don't get.
Kimi ni Todoke - Already did it and want to quit it.
Magico - Not feeling this battle. It's just boring except for treasure stealing mummy girl. The cos-play ferris wheel is a new one though.
Nana to Kaoru - The latest breather makes me very uncomfortable.
Nana to Kaoru Arashi - This is boring.
Nise Koi - Are you afraid of the dark? Was Chitoge like 5 feet away when shithead found her? And what if Raku got stick in the onsen pipe and died? Chitoge x Tsugumi?
Omamori Himari - I have no fucking clue what is going on. Except I have puns on the borderline H where Himari is a cat and Yuuto was feeling her...
Onihime VS - Female on female rape once again. Yea, this manga is no longer recommended by me.
Oniichan no Koto - College tutor who is like being seductive and destroying porn. This manga is fucked up.
Pajama na Kanojo - The ring to rule them all. What is with all the rape scenes I'm seeing as of late? It's either gags or rape scenes. This story is stupid with magical girl transformations and totally random events/confessions. Guh, just shit.

Sucks and should die:
Kimi no Iru Machi - Who the fuck cares if Haruto can whip up tea in the forest? Who the fuck cares about some random club he joined so Seo can ass-pull him back into being a chef? Who gives a shit about another ass-pulled girl from HS who is a fucking idiot? Who cares if this manga just doesn't end right now? The answer is...Seo you hack shit idiot.

My enjoyment with Magico is directly proportionate to how unique the magic powers are (in concept). They're usually cool, but the bunnies have some really boring powers.

If Magico was playing on its strength, each bunny would have a wife/husband and a kid, and the powers would all be crazy shit.
And in the end all the bunnies would join Shion's neighborhood.
