Brown Beard and co. had nothing to do with fruits I thought. They had their lower halves exchanged for animal halves by Law using his fruit.

No. Her power is to freeze her body to absolute zero. Her skill in reishi manipulation allows it to be useful since she can use outside force to manipulate her body while it's frozen.
Actually, you are right about that. I think I'm remember them incorrectly. I had thought they had to do with the fruits because of their animal parts, but most of that was from Law.
Was there any of Kaido's zoan army shown during the last cover arc?

He's kinda right though. Rukia was like the weakest character in Soul Society and Renji was the Shinigami version of Sado. Now all of a sudden they're easily beating Quincies that were offing Captains left and right. It's pretty ridiculous.

Well they went to train so a power up isn't out of the question. It's like expecting Luffy to lose to Pasifista after the time skip with training.
They where taken and trained by the elite royal guard who we saw pretty much founders of everything shinigami. The lesson we saw from Renji flashback hinted that most captains or SS members don't know the true name of zanpaktou a and not using max potential.
Renji knowing it changed everything not hard see Rukia, Byakuya and Ichigo all be boss tier

I sort of had an expectation of what this series would be like having read Asano's other stuff years ago before I started on Punpun that was available at the time, now I ended up starting over again since I didn't get that far. In the end it was compelling to read through as weird as it would get, and I sure as hell didn't 'get' all of it, but that's more or less part of the lure for Asano material for myself, weird and wonderful, while identifying the commentary/feelings of the author to relate to. I guess I liked the series and I suppose it's up to the reader what to take away what they choose to at the very end.

Of course they've gotten stronger, that's not the problem. The problem is that they went from fodder to, in Renji's case, beating enemies Kensei and Rose couldn't even double-team. Maske de Masculine destroyed two Captains using Bankai without even using Vollstandig (them not even using their Hollow powers when Urahara just told everyone that's the Quincy's weakness is a whole other can of worms), and Renji comes in and beats his ass with two fingers up his nose. Come on now.
There's nothing indicating the bolded, Renji is not a Captain. The only ones I could imagine this being the case for are Zaraki, for obvious reasons, and Hitsugaya. I guess we'll see when Byakuya returns (ugh). If this does turn out to be the case though, I'm out.
Shounen manga indeed.

The story has become so weird that I'm starting to get lost. I'm not sure of Alice's real intentions because his actions seem contradictory at times, but his cunning choices here and there tell me he does have something planned.
The White Rabbit is hiding something quite obscure, or better yet, he feels possessed b something quite obscure.
The Mad Hatter's changes made certain parts of the chapter really funny to read.

Eh, I don't think "talentless" is even remotely the right word here, condemn her for the questionable ending all you want but even you have to admit that the first half was quite nice.

I found Unita Yumi's non Usagi Drop works to be pretty enjoyable from beginning to end.
