Manga News/Discussion |OTY| Creatively Bankrupt

For anyone who can tell me who has both read and watched this, I'm currently watching the Gintama anime, on episode 59, and was wondering what the differences between the anime and the manga are. I think I've hit the first serious arc so I was wondering if the anime kept the bigger arcs intact and most of the rest was just semi-original stuff?

I ask because I dread watching 200 more episodes to then pick up the 500+ chapter manga that I've already seen most of

So Ishida Sui drew Umaru from Himouto! Umaru-chan.

She looks too cute.

She looks scary to me, to be honest.

Btw, since you're the resident fan of Tokyo Ghoul, could you to tell me if the 2nd season of the anime is following the manga plot or if it's going its own direction? I still have to read the third volume of the manga but being deep into s2 of the anime I'm wondering how much of that I'll see in the books.
Since they made some obvious changes in s1 I've been curious if the story went its own way or not, but never really researched.

Yuusha ga Shinda! Murabito no Ore ga Hotta Otoshiana ni Yuusha ga Ochita Kekka. 10-11

Pitfalls like we're playing Animal Crossing and finally a bone hero.

Well technically the original drafts by Ishida were supposed to be different from the manga and even longer, but it seems Pierrot cut out most of the original content to fit in 12 episodes. So the anime as of right now has a bit of original content but really follows the same path as the manga. It just cuts out details like it did in the first season. As of right now I really don't now if it will have an anime original ending or if it'll be the same as the manga's ending. In my personal opinion I'd say just read the manga first then watch season 2 of the anime if you want. Though if you really want to you can just keep on going with the anime, I mean the ending cards are really beautifully drawn.

Kagamigami 01

So little kid turns into a pretty boy and saves the girl. Am I sure I'm not reading a shoujo?

Well besides that, it's pretty fun. Nice premise and pretty interested in the whole super flash forward at the start.

1. Cyborg Roggy
2. Ultra Battle Satellite
3. Black Clover
4. Kagamigami

I could live without Kagamigami really, cause the MC's so super bland (though the detective's fun, but I figure as time goes on, it'll focus less on her and she'll get stale anyways), but I really wish the other 3 could make it in.
Still, I'm definitely voting Cyborg Roggy.

Also, it definitely looks like Gakkyu Hotei is gonna get that axe.
A shame, cause it's fun, but I definitely feel that it doesn't work in a weekly format.

Kagamigami 1 reminded me a lot Yu Yu Hakusho first arc. Paranormal detective stuff, and that 90's city feels. Then Kurama Youko appeared and blew my mind...XD

What's with all of the people who are jumping on the Domestic na Kanojo bandwagon? Dark times are ahead for you.

Good Ending Spoilers

Who wants to lay odds on whether Natsuo will also become a depressed, homeless drifter at some point in the story? I say they're pretty good considering he's living with his drama girls.

I already hinted to as much in my last post on the matter. :lol

I have no idea why I started reading No Money like 7-8 years ago now, but at this point, I definitely know it's not for me.

Mushoku Tensei

LOL at this manga as chapters progress past the translated point. If you don't want to discuss what happens later or don't want to be spoiled then stop right here.

Is Rudi the next hero because dog god liked him a wee bit too much. Is that dog telepathic? LOL at the demon princess kirishiaka (misspelled name not on purpose). LOL at Rudi pwning his father. Triple LOL at his reaction to being handed 20 royal notes aka 1 million yen. He was living that fiscally responsible cheap fuck life then all of a sudden it's time to make it rain!!! This manga gets dark but great later on even though the MC is overpowered. It's not The New Gate overpowered but overpowered nonetheless. I'm powering through chapter 50 on my way to next volume.

Back to the Hero 01

Your average protagonist was inspired when he was younger to be a hero. Now, he works as a lacky in an amusement park hero show. Enters a mysterious girl who inspires him again to become the hero he dreams of.

Fun, the twist at the end made it interesting and fun. Looking forward to seeing where this goes.

The Voynich Hotel 34

ZLhCwFg.jpg

Macabre, existential, and kind of lewd, Voynich Hotel is definitely one of the more... unique manga I've ever read (which is admittedly not too much thus far), but it's nonetheless incredibly delightful. There's something irresistibly charming about the surreal, often amoral (and occasionally psychopathic) characters and general morbidity, a cocktail of pitch black humour and a certain amount of irreverence that makes it so engrossing. Voynich can be (well, often is) grotesque but there's a core to it that's, well, kind of cute, for lack of a better term.

But I think I wanna put special mention towards the art in particular. I don't think I'd call it especially impressive from a technical standpoint, but it's very distinctive and really nice. I don't think I'm smart enough to break down what exactly about the art in this series I find so attractive, but I can't help but think the off-kilter proportions and somewhat simplified designs do a lot to offset the visual horror of what's technically being depicted. I dunno, it just looks good, and was the first thing to stand out to me when I started reading.

I really need to slow down, though. I've apparently hit the halfway mark and I don't want to burn through this that fast.

Elena is best btw

Hidamari Sketch 0-1

Finally reading the manga of this now. Ume Aoki's drawings are definitely a lot more rough in this compared to how she draws now. I'm interested in seeing how the art changes over this manga, but it's a four koma manga, so I shouldn't be expecting a lot of detail anyway.

Be sure to check out Nickelodeon when you're caught up on Voynich!
I've actually been meaning to for a little while now, but it's just now that I realized they're actually made by the same guy, haha. Definitely gonna give it a look when I'm done.

What the hell... Is ONE some sort of super saiyan god?
I cannot find a single fault in his writing. I enjoyed everything this man wrote.

More than worthy of his S rank, I think I'll bump him up to my #2 all time favorite mangaka. Sorry Sorachi.
A magnificent mangaka ONE is. and to think guys like Kishi (B rank) and Kubo (C rank) has seen so much success unlike ONE... The world truly is an amusing place.

Futari no Mirai (one-shot)

Don't worry, she's ‘armless.

Heartwarming one-shot about a pair of twins with some slight dependency issues. Would love to see more stories with this kind of subject matter. There’s a very brief side chapter in Sayuri Hime, but it isn’t focused on the twins and doesn’t add anything of significance.

Everything from Dowman Sayman is worth a read. Even the lewd stuff.

Especially the lewd stuff.

Prison School 1-169

I just binged through this I have no words. It just keeps getting better.

These past 3 chapters holy shit...

Mari is a god damn genius... Man Kate I didn't expect that twist. But damnnnnnn Mari is so attractive. The way she eats Kate while not giving 2 shits about her...

The way Risa tamed Andre and rides him like a steed is hilarious, Move out of the way Meiko, Andre truly found a new S.

169

Jo's girl is back, surprised she's still relevant considering his relationship with the fujoshi.

NOOOO, Kurihara rijichou. Don't die don't die don't die. LOL at him being the reason for the relationship ban...

Kiyoshi inviting Hana into his room, stripping, the laying out a tarp like a futon. I can't tell if he's suave as hell or just some idiot. Hana's probably gonna realize they're gonna do it then pass out when it counts.

Shimauma volume 5

Man this volume was depressing. OK, every volume of this is depressing one way or the other, but this one has Dragon
hospitalized in a coma for a month
and Kiinu
killed off and chopped down into pieces
, though I'm not completely convinced that was really her, but we'll see next volume.
What the fuck will the next volumes bring into the picture though? What will Dragon do when (if?)
he wakes up from the coma
? One thing that pisses me off is that Dragon
was run over
right as Aka was about to spill some beans.
