I guess they wanted the ATV aesthetic and so prioritized that rather than making them actually different in a meaningful way like bikes are to karts. Perhaps they wanted to avoid a situation like they had with bikes in MKWii? (Even though the main things wrong with bikes, aside from inside drift, were the wheelie and how much faster they were -- that is, how much faster bikes like the Bowser Bike and Mach Bike were). But I can't see how an offroad stat being really good could make them become overused or something. It would certainly give them an edge on some tracks like Moo Moo Meadows and hey, that would probably be a good thing and make choosing between the different body types matter more.

Ah well. Maybe they can patch it? :p (Not being serious obv)

There's always the possibility that they do affect more than the basic stats tell us, just like how the karts and gliders had secret stats for water/air driving in MK7. I wouldn't be too surprised if ATVs are the least affected by water handling or maneuver best in air or something silly, but we won't be able to pinpoint that without a lot of testing.

At least they look cool.

So I have a general question: How do I make possibly to download the game from eShop while the console is in stand by?

I enabled the stand by option and it checks every 12 hours or something like that but at january when I downloaded SM3DW it didn't show me a way to download it in stand by, like the 3DS Download Later option, I just had to download it normally... So I want to download the game in stand by this time, how can I do it?

Your guess isn't too far off. Standard ATV and three other vehicles have good water speed and water handling.

The spreadsheet is freaking me out. Not only is Delio now at the top for some reason, but also there appears to be a vague alphabetical order running through most -- but not all -- of the list.

How did this happen!?

It's sorted alphabetical by NNID, for some reason only starting in row 5. Someone must have changed it.

Alistair and I have noticed that. Once the first wave of people have come and added their info, one of us is going to clean up the list and alphabetize it.

You start the download, then put the system in standby. That's it. After a few seconds, the LED will turn orange and the download will resume.

Played the crap out of this game on Monday. Found myself attached to Ludwig, after trying every new character (the beauty of no lines) on every available track.

Gotta say, bikes are still pretty damn good, & I absolutely LOVE Cloudtop Cruise.

Thanks, will do that on Friday. I thought that if I shut down the console it would not resume but cancel itself.

I'm not sure if I would call them "skilled". "Above average", maybe, but the person in the video used his lightning the moment he got it which indicates that his item skills aren't very good. And people in the first course kept on getting stuck on the grass.

Item effect register lag in online? WTF!

In that video I see it all over the place. That's pretty bad to be honest.

I'm hoping it's just that instance and not online play as a whole. It would be terrible to launch an item at somebody and not have it register until a full second later.

Edit: Nevermind, I only really saw it in the beginning minutes of the video. I jumped to conclusions too fast, but I hope something like this doesn't happen at all.

There's no way it can be as bad as it was in Mario Kart Wii. Seeing your Red Shell trailing someone's ass for around 2-3 full seconds before actually hitting them was unbearable.

You must be very sensitive to stuff like this because what I saw was waayy better than MKW and MK7.

Is there any kind of limitations on the number of friends you can have on a NintendoID, just in case I should get one ASAP to put my name on the spreadsheet.

Keep in mind you won't have to add anyone and everyone to your friends list considering we're going to make use the Tournament/Community feature (they're one in the same tbh). Which should let anyone play with each other without needing to register every single person.

Ah, good good. This'll be fun.

Still, people still feel free to add me, it's good having activity on the friends list. My NNID is Mistle.
I still have heaps of gaffers on the 3DS friendslist back from MK7!

EDIT: Oh wait my Wii U friendslist is full also, must have been a Wii U launch spread of NNIDs..
