Mario Kart World |OT| See that mountain? You can drive to it.

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.

Welcome to the Mario Kart World NeoGAF OT. Get ready for the high-octane world of Mario (and his growing cast of friends) driving, biking, sliding, grinding, flying, and more in this brand-new entry that's exclusive to the newly launched Nintendo Switch 2. This entry includes new racers, new gameplay modes, and online play for up to 24 players at once! Let's dive in.

There are 50 confirmed characters that are included in the game! You will be able to unlock these characters and their outfits as you win races and explore free roam mode. Can you unlock them all?

In this traditional racing mode, complete a series of courses to be crowned the winner. Each player gets points based on their placing in the race, and the points are tallied at the end to decide the grand prix winner! Compete in the Mushroom Cup, Flower Cup, or Star Cup, along with some additional grand prix surprise cups.

In Knockout Tour mode, you race across the open world through five pre-determined checkpoints. But watch out, because the racers that fall behind at each checkpoint will be eliminated from the race. It's a new battle-royale style Mario Kart mode! Can you make it to the final checkpoint and take the title?

Drive where your heart takes you. The open world map contains lots of hidden secrets - new racers to unlock, new outfits to find, NPCs to yak at, photo mode opportunities, and much, much more. Hit the road.

Want to go head-to-head? Check out the game's various Vs. modes. Time Trials, where you race to get the best time on a course. VS Race, where up to four players can race split-screen. Balloon Battle, where your goal is to pop the opponent's balloons with items. And finally, coin runners, where your goal is to gather the most coins and bring them across the finish line.

Stay Calm Central Park GIF by Apple TV+

$79.99 MSRP

There is also a Switch 2 bundle with Mario Kart World packed in that is $50 more expensive than the console by itself.

Physical versions are also available, and thankfully they are not Game Key cards

Nothing cow related in the title.

I thought about combining a bunch of the suggestions together... something like "See that mountain? You can MOOve there for $80" but didn't want to go totally overboard.

I've been waiting over a decade for this one. Can't wait to get my hands on it.

Looks phenomenal!

Reviews are going up now, we should have a metacritic / opencritic score soon

Thought nobody had a Switch 2 unit until launch?

Seems from reading a lot of the "final reviews" that Nintendo hosted events around the world where they invited select press to be left alone with the game for about five hours.

Going of Skill ups impressions its exactly what you'd expect.
MK8 dailed upto 11. And I'm total fine with that. Roll on Thursday.

Mario Kart World |OT| See that DLSS mountain? You can race there! Just don't expect the AI's magic up close

Awesome OT, can't wait to play this this weekend!

Looking forward to the crazy shell spam.

In the bundle it comes out to only $50. Killer deal for a game that will provide us 100s of hours of family fun. And this is the type of game you want digital anyway so it's always ready to go. Would never sell it either.

If only I managed to get the bundle, but it was out of stock. 80 big ones for me

There's a bunch of new footage, I just don't see myself ever liking it, it all looks too empty, too flat and it's not because the textures are flat or lack any normal mapping but because there are many tracks which large areas covered by a single texture mostly which in the grand scheme of things makes it look like a large uniformed colored flat section from the distance (you have to look close to see detail).

Then the lighting is way flatter than even MK8 with shadows too bright, like the dev team had some kind of phobia to contrast for whatever reason... And everything IMO is mostly because they have to make tracks way wider to space for 24 racers.

There are some tracks with way more detail density that are basically proof of my assumptions on why the game looks so bland to me. The game looks great in close ups and in some sections like water but in general I feel the whole art direction is a regression from MK8, save for close ups of characters new models.

Oh and the new cars design is also bland af, I preferred the more aerodynamic and aggressive approach of MK8 rather than the "cheerful and safe racing" style of this one...

Edit: Changed my mind, this needs to be played in HDR

Are these going to be based solely on the time the press spent during nintendo sanctioned events? Seems like they might not have gotten enough time with the game for a "proper review" but this being a kart racer I guess you could test all the features and what not in less than 10 hours. Guess there's no embargo.

Im here for knockout tour. That's the most exciting part for me. Loved the similar mode in F Zero 99.

Skipped the last mk but played mk 64 religiously for a very long time

This is my first one since mk 64

Im excited

MK8 was the best in the series and it's not even close. Like prior to that I'd say I liked Mario Kart, but even the best would be maybe what, an 8/10, objectively? But MK8 (and Deluxe) is magnificent, it's one of the best games Nintendo has ever made.
