By the way, how are they managing Spider-Man being in Future Foundation and his solo books? Is he using the white costume only part-time?

fascinating.

tbh, F4 was probably one of my least favorite series. then again, I was a 90s reader. I assume those were probably the dark days of F4 writing.
During the '90s he was also part of the group who replaced them (together with Wolverine, Ghost Rider and Hulk) for a couple of issues.

NO MORE DEAD COPS!

Or better yet

Kill every single hero off

Then make a storyline about people trying to find out what happened to them and stuff.

haha like anyone actually believed johnny storm was dead. Comic book deaths have been the biggest gimmick ever since the 90s when Death of Superman was a huge blockbuster in sales.

He just travels back and froth between the two. As for his costume, he can basically change it's appearance. In a recent ASM, Pete goes from his spidey costume to a black shirt/jean outfit at the touch of a button.

He has a high-tech suit that makes itself invisible when he isn't Spider-Man, and can quickly change color from normal Spidey to FF Spidey.

At least people stay dead in the Ultimate universe... for the most part. I think.

Spider-man has long history with the F4. He tried to join them way back in Amazing Spider-man #1. The F4 consider him part of the family, knowing his identity and he and Johnny are the best of friends.

not to mention member of the most awesome fantastic 4 line up ever...

The Spider-Man / Human Torch series is a great read, it goes over the friendship of the two over the years, and it gave us the iconic panel of Spider-Man doing donuts on the side of the Daily Bugle in the Spider-mobile.

i think the death of Batman a few years ago was handled well. No hype, no CNN coverage. Just Dick replacing him.
Batman And Robin, Return of Bruce Wayne, and Batman Inc were fucking awesome. Too bad the entire thing is being ruined by the DC reboot.

Those were dark days for all comics.

That's actually more stupid.

I'm just glad that Grant Morrison is finishing off Batman Inc. with the Leviathan titles.

Actually it does, but it's all explained in the first issues. Dick isn't Batman anymore.

Obviouisly they were going to return to the original numbering for the 600th issue much like they did with Ironman's 500th. I dont think they've said what was the deal with Johnny being back but they werent going to leave Torch off the covers for such a milestone obviously.

...And this is why I say Marvel and DC need a full blown reboot of everything. Their whole universes are full of complete clusterfucks of retcons, plot holes, and just plain bad ideas.
As someone else said, the only universes that mean shit are the 616 universe and the Ultimate universe. A LOT of these universes are just one offs that are briefly mentioned, or tie into an Exiles story (which is about parallel Earths).

You can read comics monthly and not know any of that just fine. Funny, when I was 10 yo, I knew all about the DCU multiverse and it all made sense. I don't buy adults not understanding it.

Does the DC reboot have a name? I haven't been following and I'd like to look it up.

My God. I know that reading a synopsis is a far cry from the real thing, but I just read the (poorly written) wiki article and it sounds unbelievably stupid.

Suairyu said:
In Marvel Universe, just two that actually count. The primary one has been dubbed '616', but most writers and editors at Marvel hate the name, as it recalls all the DC Crisis bullshit. There's Marvel Universe and Ultimate Marvel Universe. Two interpretations of the same base ideas.

As far as recurring Earths go, although there's no book exclusively taking place there, Age of Apocalpyse Earth pops up too once in a while. And there's also the zombie world which has had crossovers with 616 and ultimate, although that seems to have died for now.

Whether or not FF gets cancelled, it really feels like kind of a waste so far. For instance, why did Hickman feel the need to spend two out of seven issues just explaining how Black Bolt survived a storyline that no one read?

how did Black Bolt die?

really? i did not like it.super intelligent moloids...yeah no thanks. among other things.

Any story is going to have some that don't grok it. Hickman is writing the most cerebral FF in ages.

I don't even know. That's the point, it was such a non-issue to the story at hand. And even though I appreciate a writer who actually gives a shit about continuity and will go out of his way to tie up loose ends...at the same time, he's going out of his way and needlessly derailing his story.

...that's what the Marvel Ultimate Universe is. A reboot of the Marvel stuff.

Agreed. It made me a Fantastic Four fan, something I really could not have said 2-3 years ago. Even Mark Millar's run before Hickman's was far from great. Future Foundation is just really great.

I guess I don't see it as a derail and more of a chapter in a novel that shows you what's happening on the other side of the world, before he pulls it in to the main plot.

Maybe it's because I worship the Inhumans though? ;)

Spider Man was also a Reserve Avenger way before he joined the New Avengers. Hes pulling triple duty.

Spider-man is a member of more teams than wolverine.

ive been saying this for years. why is it so hard to just jump into comics?

Thank you! I had to check to make sure I didn't miss an issue where they wrapped up the previous story line. The change in scenery was jarring.

I think it comes down to the folks that hyperobsessive about knowing everything. Like that guy that wanted to read Spider-man from the beginning.

They just need to know that you don't need to know everything that has gone before to read a single story arc.

huh. I just though "Hickman must be bringing Black Bolt into the story and wants to explain some things that will be relevant."

This is all you need to know about Spiderman, even when he is being a dick, he is awesome.
