At least people stay dead in the Ultimate universe... for the most part. I think.
Yep. Like when Bendis killed Beast off, and some other writer came on and brought him back to life, and Bendis went on again and like, what, brutally murdered him so he couldn't ever come back?

Ultimate Universe is the best Universe.

(Even though Marvel has been adamant that it's not a Universe on Twitter recently, which is stupid since it's crossed over with the zombies, which have then crossed over with the 616. Oops.)

how did Black Bolt die?

Was a battle in another mini series /cross over called war of kings.

The story with blackbolt makes sense because he's a power source for the antagonists of the current story line. FF isnt very far in you could start at #1 and be caught up to the issue that explains BB's return.

wait, marvel was saying the the ultimate line wasnt a universe? well i guess with that s designated earth number, they cant say that anymore.

and ultimatum prevents the ultimate universe from being the best at anything but failure.

i was disappointed when i realized Astonishing was not its own universe.

Well I think it was meant to be Non-Continuity for a long while. I could be wrong, but until Kitty returned from Space.

I wish she had stayed. Her bodycondom snuggle time with Colossus is creepy.

I still find it amusing how they just cut off parts of her suit to have her show more skin.

That comes from no one knowing who that is. Inform us. :D

Well, ok, I'll give you that. What's-his-name really, really fucked things up with Ultimates and Ultimatum. That was really bad. But the OG Ultimate FF, and the entire run of Ultimate Spider-Man, and everything up to Kirkman's run of Ultimate X-Men was fucking rad. One bad "event" and a couple sour arcs does not a bad universe make!

On the Universe thing, yeah, Marvel and Benis were preaching about it the other day on Facebook and Twitter. They don't treat it like an alternate universe, they treat it like it's the end-all be-all Marvel line, like it's its own thing and there's nothing else to draw from or something. Made NO sense but I guess that means we'll never actually see a Ultimate/616 crossover (thank GOD).

Torch probably didn't even die. If I remember correctly we didn't actually see him die, he was just fighting against really bad odds. Of course it was implied that this would mean his death but whatever. They probably have a stupid reason why he survived. How long was he gone?

Never say never.

If my calculations are correct, a few hours.

I could have sworn that Hickman said that he did in fact die in some interview and that he had plotted another scene showing his heroic effort.

Hmm...trying to source this but:

Maybe but I don't think that was on the page.

It wasn't.

“Regardless of the circumstances, unless something radical happens, the school isn’t going anywhere,” said Hickman. “Even if Johnny Storm came back, the Future Foundation would continue. If I get fired tomorrow from Marvel, the next guy that comes on the book… Steve, who’s your favorite writer who’s not me or Brubaker.”

Nothing to worry about concerning FF?

The only disturbing thing about the Future Foundation is that all the promo art implies they are finally happy without Johnny.

it have some fun runs,(spider man and fantastic four were pretty damn fun) but nothing amazing. count me as one of the few that wasnt down with the ultimates. but ultimatum was not the way to deal with the universe. and then the new fantastic four trash, and the new ultimates vs ultimate avengers nonsense, i bowed out with haste, only to come back to see the most heroic character the universe had die like a dog. im just glad there isnt a ultimate cosmic, or i might be suckered into diving back in that cesspool

pretty much. i hope that johnny is still alive. and that his cosmic abilities have grown in his absence, so he can come back and punch reed in his smug ass face. but in seriousness, hed really benefit from going to cosmic marvel. hes got a grudge with annihilus after all.

as for the ultimate universe not having any draws anywhere else. yeah, thats complete horseshit. thats why until now, the team dynamics and designs havennt changed from their 616 counterparts......

... oh, never mind.

In Marvel Universe, just two that actually count. The primary one has been dubbed '616', but most writers and editors at Marvel hate the name, as it recalls all the DC Crisis bullshit. There's Marvel Universe and Ultimate Marvel Universe. Two interpretations of the same base ideas.

Excusing one-off specials and the like, of course. Sometimes you just want to tell a story and ignore everything else.

waaaaaaay off. There's a ton of characters running around with origins in other earths that it isn't really possible to dismiss them.

Age of Apocalypse earth alone has been used and abused so much it's impossible to ignore it.

The "zombie virus" originated in a parallel dimension and has made its way into marvel canon.

etc etc

etc etc

we can easily dismiss the zombie universe. (or universes) Its self contained within and minus a link, just about eradicated in both. the ape universe seems like with a good writer, could be a problem down the line.

We never really saw Johnny die, so I don't really care that he's coming back although I do hope what Hickman said is true and that he is going to have an epic final battle with Annhilus.

Who are the kids? That's not Power Pack is it?

one of them is alex, the others are franklin and valerie richards. i know franklin is a mutant, but is valerie as well?

Its unknown whether Valerie is a mutant or not since most don't exhibit powers until puberty, she does however have a genius level intellect already.

So they come from a different universe, it's not like Rachel Grey, Nate Grey, or Cable brings it up all the time.

Replace that last Bendis with Loeb and you're accurate. I nominate that moment as dumbest Ultimate moment ever. Beast was back for like five issues and they were clearly setting something up with him and then bam.
