His L's don't chain into themselves also uh... uh... Dormammu fucks him up good, also spidey swing isn't safe unless you do it certain ways.

He really doesn't have to many flaws though.

He has kind of a weak mix-up game IMO but that's what assists are there for.

He's a phenomenal early-game bruiser and point character. I don't even use the Sword Master or normal counter, barely use the hyper counter, and I still do well with him.

Don't forget that if he some how ends up as your last character you can still infinite people to death with him too if you haven't used xfactor yet

yeah magus and I were talking about tasky at starbase last night on what his -major- weaknesses are and he doesnt really seem to have any. sure he might have a hard time opening people up, but his offense is still pretty good, not that he even really needs it. lmao. he does so much damage off of basic shit its ridiculous.

i feel like task/sent/phoenix is easily one of the best teams in the game. you can do so much damage with task and sent early on and save all the meter for phoenix.

I don't know you lose out on so much damage not finishing off taskmasters combos with his supers, of course if you mean keep away task then I guess. One of the strong points of task is that no matter what he's going to have meter to fuck you over once a hit lands.

The current team I'm running is Task/Shuma/Doom, one bnb into dhcing through all of the characters gives 1,200k dmg

Only ~25% of my matches on Ranked today have featured Sentinel. I'm a bit perplexed.

307 matches in and still no Combat Specialist achievement. Where do all those 1st Lords hide?


Button dash is instant (1 frame). Double tapping on either stick or pad would take longer even if your execution was light-speed (press, release, press = at least 3 frames) and in reality it'll always take a bit longer than that.

Generally the only time you shouldn't use button dash is if it causes command overlap problems and would result in an unwanted special move or something.

Sentinels are starting to fall short... had a bunch of guys going back to the selection screen to get sent out of their roaster... wolvie was eating them for free .

Taskmaster just really seemed to sneak up on everyone. Like I wasn't hearing much about him but by the 2nd or 3rd week or so I noticed that roughly 50% of the people on Ranked who knew what they were doing were using him.

Even when I was able to block everything he did, I took so much chip just getting in on him that I was kind of surprised. Now I'm running with him on point. Call meter assist after every other arrow volley. Fire off an arrow hyper the moment I hear an assist call. Fire off an arrow hyper when-the-fuck-ever I want once I'm sitting on 3+ meter. Did I hit the point char? The assist? Neither? Doesn't matter; I'm doing tons of chip and building back the meter in no time anyway, lol.

- Task puts 'em in the corner.
- Felicia rapes 'em once they're in there.
- XF3 Astral Vision Morrigan takes care of clean-up if need be.

Yeah, this stuff works good. I'm currently using doom rocks for both zoning and rush down. Calling in doom mid block string keeps them there and protects the recovery frames of spidey swing. Or using it to cover the ground while I use arrows above or ground arrows and shuma's mystic ray assist to catch super jumps

Seriously speaking, Taskmaster creeped up on me personally. I didn't even know much about the character at all until that one stream waaaay back in the early days of the first thread when he got upgraded from "oh that's cool, his arrows are nice" to "HOLY SHIT TASKMASTER, MASTERING THE FUCK OUT OF HIS TASKS."

The stuff Combofiend did with him in Final Round was eye-opening too, I didn't know the arrow hyper would rain down fast enough to catch characters still falling in the air like that.

He's pretty hax in the comics too though main thing holding him back is that he is just a human.

Even Clockwork last night was saying how resorting to Phoenix all the time is making him potentially worse at MVC3, which I agree. Same with Sentinel. You'll run into these players that are Vs. Phoenix and Vs. Sentinel experts, like Justin Wong, and will get OCV'd every time. It's funny to hear Clock himself make this point, but to be honest...it's really true. Relying on gimmicks like LV3 XF Sentinel and Dark Phoenix isn't making you better at MVC3.

Pretty much, if your team is hinged on just one particular strat, all it takes is someone knocking that piece out and your fucked. Main reasons I got rid of Hsien ko. She only has one thing going for her, and if someone just does a simple snap back it's all for nothing.

I will say I love fighting against pheonix, snapping them in always gives me a good laugh.

i agree. as much as i bitch about taskmaster etc i still feel like i can play "my game" while vs phoenix I have to change my gameplan almost entirely. doesn't even feel like im playing mvc3 anymore if it makes sense.

Umm, at least say you want to quit the game cause you suck at it than type up some big excuse xD and how the heck do you miss a dhc from lag you have like 10 years to do one if you are doing it to just tag out, and you can't be meterless if you miss it you still have at least one. Block and alpha counter in. Also you shouldn't be getting hit on the way in, BLOCK.

You should probably focus on building one team instead of 3, no matter how comfortable you think you are, if your getting steamrolled online, it's probably because that specific team needs to be focused on.

Also, if your playing Arcade Mode on medium, it isn't helping you grow a single bit. Beaten arcade mode 40+ times (once for each char, a few more times cause I fucked up) and it conditions you to be shit at the game and that there is no challenge at hand. Play on very hard, it's a better representation of what you may run into online, with the unpredictability and all.

Also I am a member of ScrubGAF, but the rest of it is a myth, everytime I ask on GAF IRC nobody wants to play me, or everyone is playing GGPO.

I don't believe either of theirs are as fast, but I already mentioned vipers day 1 and not many seem to give a shit about her or ironman so far. Point being - phoenix's is underutilized
