Mass Effect 2/3 now Backward Compatible on Xbox One

I thought the game would be in english, even if I put in a German disc and my Xbox One is set to USA.

Is there any way to change this? I don't want to play it in German...

I have the same problem and tried to fix it but nope, you'd have to play the trilogy in German.

RIP fem Shepard & miranda voices 😭

Was the same for me with Halo: Reach. What I did was just buy a copy off eBay UK for around ten Euro shipped.

Yeah this seems to be the only possible solution.

They fixed this with ME3 by releasing the English VA as free DLC though. To my knowledge EA had promised the same with ME2 but never delivered.

Damn. This answers my question I made a thread about with no replies

Now that Xbox One has almost every 360 title I want to play via BC, I've been wondering how the downloads work for region discs. If I buy a game like Mass Effect from Japan physically for the better box art, will it download the English build for me if my console language is English? I know Lost Odyssey JP had a specific version with English text and one with just JP. Does it download based on actual disc region or console / account region? Also if I borrow my friend's X360 copy of Mass effect 2 which is a PAL copy and play, will the same game download and save work with my NA copy that will reach me later? OR will i have to redownload and restart?

Just finished Mass Effect for the first time last night, hooley Dooley, what have I missed out on for all these years? I haven't finished a single player game since this generation started, and I immediately hopped into 2. To be honest, I flew through the first because it felt a little dated but it still was a fantastic game!

I didn't realize I was getting access to all of this for free with EA Access. I wish I had the time to play through the trilogy again.

I'm playing ME3 right now but the visuals are incredibly dark in the contrast areas.

Fine on my end.

Make sure you're output settings on your X1 are right. If it's a TV you need to have your RGB settings on "Limited". Don't use "Full" unless your TV supports it, or you're using a monitor.

I'm downloading the game now ad looking to replayeay 3. Is there a way to select any of the major story plot points of 1 or 2? My saves are on a dead USB so I can't upload my files. I played it before pre extended cut and dlcs, and know the ending story/writing is still a joke.

Yes. Theres a DLC named Genesis that is a short comic-like addon that let's you decide the major story points from the previous games.

I was doing a side by side comparison with the PC version at 1080p the other day, and it's surprising how good the Xbox version looks, even with lower resolution. Sure, many textures are sharper on PC, maily in the scenery details, but the Xbox version looks really really good.

In some areas, the console version even seems to have better AA than the PC, like the scene where you see the Normandy arriving at the Citadel for the first time, where the Xbox apparently had less jaggies (both on the same TV screen).

I think I'll do my upcoming playthrough on PC though, since I had it installed along the controller mod anyway and my Xbox One hard drive is full.

It does have some issues that I have never seen in the original (but maybe exist)

I started a playthrough of ME this weekend. I'd previously played a bit of it on PC way back when but never finished it. Played ME2 on PS3 and started ME3 but didn't finish it. So going through them all should be a fun experience I think.

Though I admit that while there are things I like about ME, I like what I view as the improvements from ME2.

I actually just finished the trilogy on PC a couple months ago. I had finished ME1&2 on all three platforms multiple times but never ME3. The PC and PS3 versions of these games are much more riddled with bugs. Also, since I can now play the 360 versions without disc swapping I decided to start a X1 playthrough of the series (with all the dlc except the Genesis add-ons and Pinnacle Station). I'm definitely not a fan of playing ME1 with a controller but I'm enjoying it either way (and ME2&3 are definitely better with a controller).

Sorry if this has been asked. I loaded up ME3 in the xb1 today (disc) and used manage game to install all the DLC. when I try to load a 360 save however, it complains that Leviathan, Earth & extended aren't installed.

Anyone had this, or know a fix?

It's not installed by default. You have to manually install the DLC you own.

What you have to do:

1. Go to My Games and Apps
2. Navigate to the game you want to install DLC for
3. Press the Three Lines (Start) button
4. Choose Manage Game
5. Go to Ready to Install
6. Pick Install All

Voila!

Yeah. I refer you back to my post: "I used manage game to install all the DLC".

Thanks for trying, but I've already done all that.

If you are just talking about mass effect 3, yeah it's not bad. But mass effect 1 doesn't looks so great compared to the PC version. I think the PC version looks much better. But maybe my expectations are just unrealistic. I do appreciate being able to play with a controller though.

The framerate on ME1 is pretty horrendous. I was shocked.

Just finished Mass Effect 2 and 3 back to back in the past week. Still one of my favourite game series. I'll have to go back and finish ME1 again, as I was having some bad framerate issues when it first went BC.

I feel that ME3 plays great, but they really dropped the ball with new characters. Considering how epic ME2 characters were, it was a huge let down. And Vega? WHY did they not think of anyone better than James Vega.

All in all, 2nd time through these games and I loved it. Still look great too.

I played through all three of them on the 360, and loved them all. When I compared the PC and Xbox BC the other day, my impression was that the only mentionable downside on the XB version was reduced detail in some med/long distance environment textures, like signs around the Citadel for exampe. But detail and aliasing on characters during conversations and cutscenes was nearly indistinguishable to my eyes, which is either very impressive for the Xbox version, or disappointing for the PC version, depending on how you look at it.

Loading on PC is quicker, though, and excellent controller support with correct button prompts and mapping has been modded into all three games on the PC for a while :)

The aliasing in me1 on x360 is pretty bad. Much worse than on PC. But you are just talking about cut scenes it seems. Does this mod actually support dual anolog sticks or do the sticks end up being digital? Edit: looks like the modder updated his installation instructions, the first set were pretty confusing, so that's good.

Does the DLC for these games ever go on sale? I want to do a play through with all the extra content but it comes out to almost $100 on XBL.

Problem solved. Even though the XB1 said all dlc was installed under "manage game" it hadn't registered it.

Two days later I get a couple of notifications announcing dlc installed and now it works.

Sorry for the bump, but is there any cheaper way to get ME2 DLC? Just beat it and would love to olay shadow broker and arrival but they cost more than what I payed for EA ACCESS its self

The only way is to wait for a sale. DLC can only be purchased directly from either PSN, XBL or EA through Origin.

However, it's unlikely there will be a sale any time soon. The most likely window for a sale just passed.

Replaying 2 ATM, skipped 1......I actually can't believe how bad it aged. But 2? Holy shit the fucking jump in quality, textures......man the jump to 3 was probably just as damn good.

I now understand why they removed the dungeon crawler aspect of the game. The amount of time I spend in the actual game menues in 2 is close to none......it is absolutely so well done and paced that it's fucking awesome. The very few times I go into the menu is for a quick quest recap or to upgrade skills. They made the game so menu minimalist it's absolutely a marvel in itself. The game is near 100% just playing the game and it's awesome. It also has great side quests it literally is a more linear witcher 3 and I wouldn't doubt if CDProjekt had some influence from this game. It's absolutely perfectly scaled and balanced and is easily my RTTP game of the year.

I actually never played 3 but am really interested in what carried over from the systems of the second one

My only gripe is how little selection there were of weapons if you didn't have DLC. Then again this was the whole EA push on fuck you if you buy it used movement
