What's considered the longest DLC? Overlord?

I want to buy one and would like to get some time out of it, so I'm curious.

Overlord is the longest one, yeah.

But I would get LotSB, it's the best DLC, yeah it's expensive, but it's still worth the money...

Overlord is probably longer but I wouldn't say by much. I know a couple of people who blitzed through Overlord but took a little longer to complete Lair of the Shadow Broker.

If length is all you want, then Overlord is probably the safest bet, especially since its cheaper. But if its overall quality, variety, and importance to the Mass Effect universe, then Lair beats it by a mile.

Not to say Overlord is bad. It's fantastic. But Overlord feels like a random sidequest, and of no real significance to the plot. Lair feels much more important.

That looks really strange to me. Is that an intentional effect?

I believe I read it was. It could be something that's just hard to balance so they call it intentional.

As of now there are no plans to change how it works.

I gotta run out and grab a points card then. Shadow Broker it is! Really is unanimous here.

It also comes with a lot of Armor/Weapon upgrades.

and stasis

plus it's really good

true, but he did rule for 60 years or something. And was smart enough to 'poison' the former SB's organization from the inside. he can't have been much of a moron, but seems barely more in control than a krogan :)

If you read the codex entry on the Yagh, it says that they are culturally violent, and believe in rule through power. If a new entity emerges, they fight to figure out who's the most powerful, and then follow that person without question. This would explain why the SB didn't have a backup plan. He literally did not believe in one. Either he was in charge, and the most powerful, or he wasn't, and would follow who was.

Do I lose much by doing the Shadow Broker DLC early in the game instead of after?

Not at all. Once
Liara becomes the new Shadow Broker, there is a terminal near where Liara used to be where you can get the normal useful things from Liara, like information on Thane and Samara.

Is it me, or is this game almost completely devoid of sidequests (not counting the DLC)? One could argu that most of the game IS sidequests (getting the crew, loyalty quests), but you know what I mean.

Just curious, I know I'm really late on this, but is there any way to get the Dr. Pepper DLC armor? Apparently these codes worked before:
CBEEAAA41NWH
CBEEAAAE4L9N
CBEEAAAFQG9J
CBEEAAAE98ZV
but it seems that they've expired.
Yeah, too late friend. I found out about them recently too and tried 'em all.

I SO wanted that stupid awesome Sentry Interface.

Uhhh...what?

I haven't seen this many sidequests in a game in awhile.

Yeah, but those seem pretty random. Are they predetermined set-pieces, or are they actually as random as they seem? Not many of them are of any interest either.

As much as i love this game, you have a point. The first Mass Effect had much more varied sidequest. ME2 is easily my favorite game this generation, but i really hope Bioware meshes the best elements from 1 and 2 together to make ME3. I really loved the exploration in ME1.

Ummmm, ME1 had more sidequests, but I don't see how you could call them varied.

Yeah, in ME1 sidequests you could...kill things...and then....kill things....and there's that too about....killing things.

Oh! and collect-a-ton type of quest! FUCK YEAH ME1 sidequests!!!

I really thing Overlord is the way to follow for ME3 sidequest, exploration in rich enviroments, a vehicle with nice controls, bits of plataforming here and there, interesting plot like a good filler for any sci-fi show instead of "Some stupid mercs hide something in this planet, go get it"

Yeah, combat sucks, but that's easily improved.

Uggnhh..

Well I tried to play this, but during a certain part of the Shadow Broker DLC, the game glitches and prevents me from advancing. I tried reinstalling it, tried replaying it from an earlier save. Don't really know what the problem is, but I was hooked up until now :/ shit.

Maybe it isnt a glitch. What part is it stopping at?

When you are chasing the Asari out of the building. You walk outside with your crew to engage her, but she's standing behind a car frozen. She won't move or shoot, and you can just walk right through her like a ghost. Shooting her does nothing. I'm pretty sure it's a glitch because there now way to activate the next segment of the game.
I think I'm just going to restart the mission. I'm not really that far into the mission I'm guessing.

go to crashed Normandy site
I think.

Don't forget to download Zaeed (if you didn't already) who is free like the Firewalker Pack. Other than that, the 4 you listed are all the gameplay content DLC, then there are a couple weapon/appearance DLCs.

Just finished Shadow Broker :O.

Rekindled my relationship with Liara too!

This is a major, MAJOR story based DLC, with HUGE reprocussions for ME3. Go Bioware!

All of the
info at the end
was hilarious :lol .

Admittedly I didn't keep up with information regarding this game from announcement to launch, but since I just recently (sort of) got into the ME universe, has the company revealed their DLC plans for ME2? I only got that free DLC when I played through ME1 since the second one appeared lackluster.

I saw the wiki and they have been releasing something each month since launch, so is it expected they will keep doing that for the foreseeable future?

Or is something like a GOTY edition coming out soon and I should just wait for that? It's one of my reasons I'm waiting to purchase Dragon Age when I heard about that "Ultimate Edition".

Well I finished it. That was awesome.

Awesome sauce was awesome. Nothing really more to be said. I hope we get at least one more amazing DLC like this before ME3 comes out. I'm glad that they set something up that will likely affect the third game.

Why does so few games offer you the chance to change character class? I mean, as long as the quests are the same and it only really affects your skills in some way, why can't I change class if I'm not satisfied with it? Instead, every game I've tried have forced you to play through it as the class you choose first, unless you start over.

This is really just meant as a wish for ME3. I'd like to be able to try out different classes before settling on one, and not being forced to play through the first 2/3 hours of the game several times in a row.

I'm trying soooooo hard not to add the new Garrus action figure to this months comic book order. Miranda to, but for some reason I think having a Miranda action figure in my house would be somehow, dirty....

Looking at all these reviews for the DLCs for both ME2 and DAO, I am surprised to see that the difference here is that Dragon Age DLC has a pretty bad reputation while ME2 has a great reputation.

I mean.. DAO even had a full blown expansion that had mixed reactions. DAO itself was received great. I would say great in context, of that it was an old school RPG, and it had that against itself.

I know we can't compare development studios and such, but with DA2 coming out so soon, I am wondering if Bioware just put more effort into ME2.

I don't understand it really because, ME1 had bad DLC. Many were dissapointed both by the quality and the amount of it. ME2 has superior graphics, and it seems like it relies on harder to build tools... DAO shipped with building tools, and it seems to be easy in that game to just add new grey landmass and spawn some more monsters and let that be it.

So it strikes me as weird that ME2 is seems to be on a rampage, while particularly the last DAO DLC.. Witch Hunt looked to be a real stinker, and what I could understand from the spoiler free reviews, that it deals with a central characters faith in that DLC!

Another thing - What are the chances that we might see much more ME2? Can they keep this up, or will they rest on their laurels? I'm getting very mixed reactions. Because I am someone who fucking loves both ME2 and DAO, and I am confused as hell as far as the DLC goes.
What I am planning to do with Fallout 3 and Borderlands is just buy the GOTY versions so I have everything in it.

Sorry for rambling... It's just such a contrast in DLC quality from one company.

About that. Fallout & Gears 2 released GOTY versions with all the DLC. Yet Halo 3/COD4/W@W never released GOTY/complete version with all the DLC in one package.

It could be a crap shoot with ME2, it could just go with the Halo 3 model of fucking over the customers.

ME1 had 2 DLC, one was awesome, one was not.

And Dragon Age's DLC has been great, aside from Darkspawn Chronicles all of the DLC has been great. Now the expansion was pretty mediocre, but if one bought it at around 2 bucks, then it was worth it. I'd say Amgarrak was just as good as Shadow Broker, and at half the price.

ME2 has had more crap and overpriced DLC then DA has had. All of those useless gun and costume packs, and then the 15 dollar Cerberus network that came with a character with barley any dialog, one mission and a shitty collect-a-thon.

I'd say both games were equal in the quality and amount of DLC.

Here's a stupid Xbox question, relevant to Mass Effect because I need more hard drive space for the DLC.

I have a 20 GB HDD. It has the DLC for Fallout 3 and ME1 on it, which I would like to delete to replace with the DLC for ME2. However, when I get the 'delete stuff to make space' screen, the DLC doesn't show up. I'm pretty sure I can find it and delete it from the Memory section of my settings, but will deleting it cause problems if I ever want to redownload and reinstall it for future replays? I think I remember reading something about the Fallout 3 DLC causing issues with the game's saves if it was uninstalled, but that might have been an isolated incident, and I can't see myself going back to Fallout 3.

Besides upgrading the HDD, I can augment memory with a USB stick, right? Would there be any issues playing DLC off the stick rather than the hard drive?

I have disc 2 and all my DLC for ME2 installed onto my usb stick (Patrioit Xporter XT) and it runs perfect. Only thing I've noticed is that it takes slightly longer for the 360 to boot up, but nothing significant. You just need a fast enough stick to play games off of.

Good stuff, I'll pick up one of these. Thanks for the recommendation.

I, too, loved Shadow Broker. Just did it in one sitting tonight and it was one of the most enjoyable Mass Effect experiences I've had.

My favourite bit was the
conversation with Liara on the ship afterwards. I think it showed how well Bioware have done creating their characters because it was actually quite touching in places, which is rare in a video game.

At this rate I'm happy to have a constant stream of DLC until Mass Effect 3. :D

Any one else love the Flashbang Grenade? It goes well with my Engineer build, and it feels good to be tossing explosives again.

Made me realize, that's the one thing I was really missing from the first Mass Effect.

"I meant on the body." Liara: "I did too."
:D
I played both DLC missions for the first time yesterday, and they were both great. My only complaint is being forced to bring along typical squad members. I'd have no complaints about incorporating set squad members or even new ones if it's so hard to get the voice actors back.
Taking Garus along the whole way with a throw away line from the Shadow Broker before the fight, and then being promptly rendered unconscious...

I felt like the 'isolated event' factor gave the writers a lot more freedom with Shepard's lines so he/she had a bit more personality in SB.

I just picked these up on my second play through of ME1/ME2, this time picking a female Sheppard. I'm really liking female Sheppard a lot more although it makes it hard to give a crap about the relationship stuff.
