Currently polling second in Australia's federal election (first in the Gold Coast), this feral may one day be your Bogan King.
What's not to like about a genocidal virginal space muslim?

Sorry this is 20 pages later. Thanks for the suggestions on ME1/2/3 and how to play them. This Gen, I got into Assassins Creed and Uncharted late, starting on AC2 and UC2, and then when I went back to play the first I was like "meh," so I thought maybe it'd be somewhat the same with ME1/2/3.

There might be a reason why he stopped playing ME1 in the first place. Maybe he couldnt stand the combat and terrible inventory?

The combat is actually why I quit. When I started it, I thought like... wtf... is this a lousy shooter with baked on RPG elements, or a half baked RPG with lousy shooter controls. I played through the first couple of zones and thought, "meh" big time, because it just felt like they were pushing me through this linear path with lousy shooting mechanics, and I figured the whole game was like that. Then I saw ME2 getting a lot of praise and that it was a more "open" game, so I thought maybe it'd be better.

Thanks for the advice

Yeah it absolutely baffles me that anybody would buy the third game in a story driven trilogy without playing the first two. Like, zero brains.

Well, if you don't really know that it's a story driven trilogy, that's why I asked. For instance, you can play Elder Scrolls V without any knowledge of Elder Scrolls IV, and still enjoy it... Same with Assassins Creed II vs. I. So I wasn't sure if Mass Effect was similar.

Has anyone here converted there 360 saves to PC and imported them? I'm still setting on the fence on which version I should get, I played the first two before I bought a gaming PC.

if he talks about books, you better damn well listen
Timed missions--at least in the way they're being described so far--seem pretty indefensible to me. Essentially players are arbitrarily locked out of content for not doing quests in a certain predefined order. Is that how the system works?

The defense that "Mass Effect is an ACTION game, so having random time limits (that aren't actually based on time, but quest order) MAKES IT MORE ACTIONY!" is utterly silly. Maybe I'm misunderstanding Castor Krieg's argument, I dunno.

Looks like I'm going to have to play this game with a FAQ beside me. I thought this crap was confined to JRPGs; I guess not.

Just pre-ordered on Origin. When should this be available to pre-load (in England)?
EDIT: Nevermind. Just had to open and close Origin.

I can understand it canonically, but the execution is just atrocious. I would much rather lose my sense of believability than being being forced to finish sidequests en masse in hopes of avoiding losing them.

To those watching the IGN live feed, can you post when they switch to multiplayer? I'm trying to avoid the campaign for spoilers, but I'm really interested to see the retail multiplayer. TIA.

My LE shipped! I have no clue what is in it because I want it to be a surprise. Also, I have to finish the second game on PS3 before I play 3.

Spoiler question for me2:

Can someone fill me in on how to keep everyone alive? I forgot the order of who goes where at the end.

Can you change shipping speed on a order that says shipping soon?

If you call customer service they can. If not then they'll give you promotional credit for your inconvenience. That's always been my experience. You just need to be nice and polite about it.

I pre-ordered 3 LE copies last year. Was thrilled these were limited(one for me one for friend and one to flip to cover the cost) but Amazon got butt load today(you can add 999 copies). I was able to just now cancel even though it said shipping soon.

I am wondering this as well. It has been discussed multiple times in the thread, but I haven't seen an answer about completed 360 ME2 saves post suicide mission --> PC ME3 Import.

I tried to test out the process using the save editor, and I can get the saves to show up in ME2 (PC) when importing a character from ME1 (360), but they will not actually load in-game. Same with transferring a (360) ME2 Save to (PC) ME2, the saves would be available in the menu but would not actually load when clicking on "load game" - it would just sit there.

I did some reading around, it seems that issue is caused when you try to transfer or import a save game that has DLC installed, and then move it to a platform without the same DLC installed.

I am hoping the DLC mismatch won't be an issue for trying to import Shepard into ME3 PC, coming from ME1 and ME2 on 360.

Can anyone confirm if they have been able to go through this process successfully?

If you have a DLC mismatch, when you try to load the save it will specifically tell you what you're missing in a pop-up. However, this isn't an issue unless the platform you're trying to play on is missing anything that the save has. If you have more, they just get added onto the career.

I've never had the problem where clicking load does nothing, so I'm not sure if there's a step you're neglecting or something. Are you converting the files to .xbsav or .pcsav files depending on what you're playing on?

Don't know how this will affect ME3, fingers crossed that my saves work!

Spoilers for order of ME2 suicide mission below. DO NOT HIGHLIGHT IF YOU DON'T WANT TO KNOW!

SERIOUSLY! DO NOT!

For the vents you need Tali, Legion, or Kasumi. Fireteam leader is Jacob, Miranda, or Garrus. For the Biotic specialist you need Jack or Samara/Morinth. Second fireteam leader is again Jacob, Miranda, or Garrus. Any loyal party member can lead the crew back.

For the finale where you take two party members the game assigns each character holding the line a defense score. Direct combat characters contribute the most, and each character gets a bump if they're loyal. Grunt, Garrus, and Zaeed contribute the most, Jack, Kasumi, Tali, and Mordin the least. Unless you need him Mordin, if loyal, is best to escort the crew since he dies first if your defense score isn't high enough.

Edit: Found the flowchart which explains it all. http://img203.imageshack.us/img203/3025/suisidemissionfinal8.jpg

Hahaha, I found this a pretty funny shout-out to those who are obsessed with the minutiae of ME lore:

ANN said:
Radio says Alliance dreadnought shot down over Vancouver. I thought they couldn't go in-atmosphere? #solcomms

I really don't believe there are actually timed quests (as in real time and not mission based timer) in the game.

More than likely, when you picked up the quest you already couldn't complete it due to having gone past the point on your main mission sequence, or you already took a branching path that made the side quest not completable.
