Nice.

Looking through the Steam forums, someone wrote them regarding SLI;

"We don't support overclocked or SLi day one. A GTX580 should run it if you disable the other 2 though. Everything else looks fine.
Best regards,
Justin I."

1) There's already an SLI profile in the Nvidia drivers?
2) don't support overclocked, what the fuck?

God damn I hope Day 1 SLI / CF performance isn't all to shit

Hmm this might be a good time to test out a steam voucher. I've got like 55 bucks in GS store credit...but of course the game had to be 59.99...

I didn't even realise pre-ordering MP3 on Steam got me L.A Noire for free, score!
Be warned that the preorder bonus of LA Noire is the standard, non-complete edition. I was under the impression that the Complete Edition is the only version of LA Noire available on PC, but alas....

Or I could preorder a physical copy of Max Payne 3, which, at least over here, is more than €10 cheaper than preordering it on Steam and then pick up LA Noire from the Steam summer sale.

And I'd pay 10 Euro for Steamworks support, I got that, L.A Noire AND Max Payne 1 & 2. Score!

Ah, yeah, I just found this FAQ, which didn't show up on Google when searching yesterday (or I just missed it :p):

Strange that the Store page has yet to be updated.
Sucks that there's no Steam Cloud save.

Ah well. I just want the game now.

Can´t see any reason to buy the Steam version of this game then, if they are using their own system for pretty much everything.

Apart from having easy access to the game, achievements (if you're into them) and a nice play time display.

There's no reason to buy retail.

Thank god it's optional, eh.

Yep.

The thing is that when a publisher decides to do their own thing with a gaming platform like Rockstar Social Club, I´m not really prepared to pay full price until I know how it works and that I see a good reason for it existing. It´s not Steam or nothing for me, since I like other things like GOG ,Telltales store and DRM free titles sold elsewhere, but as I´m unfamiliar with Rockstar Social Club, it went from preorder to $10 Amazon sale title.

Apart from having easy access to the game, achievements (if you're into them) and a nice play time display.

When they add 3rd party DRM and a separate online platform to the Steam version, I don´t consider it easy access anymore.

How can that change anything, it's just an extra piece of software that install during the installation. Steam still provides ease of access and the ability to add to your combined Steam library plus automatic patching. Rather than having to deal with other digital sites or annoying disc based copies ( imo ).

I'm not gonna play Max Payne 3 anytime soon, but I pre-ordered it and I'm going to tell you why, even though nobody asked it:

A) Rockstar seems to be FINALLY taking the right path when "porting" games to the PC. They're saying that they developed each version concurrently to the strengths of each platform. I chose to believe it.

B) I live in Brazil, and Rockstar prices their shit accordingly. LA Noire released cheaper down here (35 vs 45 if I recall correctly), and so did Max Payne 3 (45 bucks as opposed to 59).

C) Rockstar was nice enough to throw in LA Noire (a 20 bucks game) on my Max Payne 3 45 bucks purchase AND the first set of DLC. That's 20 bucks for LA Noire, 20 bucks for Max Payne 3 and 5 bucks for the DLC (if you want to do stupid math).

D) I already have all GTAs, Bully and a friend gifted me both Max Payne 1 and 2. LA Noire and Max Payne 3 are the only Rockstar games I'm missing.

E) Game takes place in my fucking country, 1 hour from where I live. Most of the voice over from that section of the game is in my language, with no translated subtitles. How can I not buy it and laugh at the mistakes?

And, most importantly, I like to reward developers that do things right. Bring it on, Max Payne 3.

Errr if I'm not mistaken the game will always be "right click -> install game" in your Steam library. Can't really get more simple than that.

Don't worry too much, the FOV on the console version were actually great. Never had any issues with the camera either. Compared to Alan Wake which was basically unplayable for my weird little mind on 360.
Oh, cool, let's hope that's enough then. I just beat Stacking on PC and had to crank up the FOV to 95 because it was making me dizzy, so you know.

I wouldn't mind just playing with .inis to change this stuff, either.

Wish I would have waited to play this game on the PC... but I got it for the PS3. Awesome game (with some annoyances) and will for sure look amazing on the PC. I just got a GTX 670 too, and my computer already sports a i3930k six core, and 32gb of ram so it seems like this game would be perfect for it (the system was built first for work purposes). I might buy the PC version as well just so I can play it in 3D (love my 3D Vision) and with all the graphic enhancements. Plus the better framerate will definitely make a difference gameplay wise.

I hope the online community on the PC turns out decent for this game.

max payne 1 + 2 were nice, but i've just looked at my library and I have L.A Noire. I heard the PC port is a piece of shit but thanks anyway, mr Rockstar.

and people think there is no reason to go retail for this title :) my bandwidth caps say otherwise.

four DVDs though? yeesh.

I only ended up going with the digital version because the retail keys can't be redeemed on Steam.

Also they gave me LA Noire for free.

I guess I'll need to be careful with my downloads this month!

i remember rage took so fucking long to install from retail disc, that was like 20gb

i reckon if steam could consistently max out my 100mb connection i'd be able to download
the whole game not too long after the retail disc installs, about 38mins for 28.5gb @ 12mb/s

Yeah, imagine having to swap 4 discs, sitting there listening to the damn drive spin at 600mph and see the install bar move at one percent an hour :P I think my 111 Mbit connection will be able to beat it, hopefully - If the Steam servers are up to the challenge.

quite probably. i'm not suggesting disc installs are quicker... but the size of my steam folder is well above the 250 gigs i'm allowed to download in a month, and doing more than a tenth of my monthly allowance for one game makes me nervous given that i usually come pretty close to 250.
