Just to clarify, I'm not against off-topic discussion. God knows we ran out of things to talk about ages ago with TPP and so I can't blame the thread for trailing off, I would even agree with LD in saying that we've kind of become stronger as a community ever since we started talking off topic because we shared different interests and it made some of us feel more welcome here by discussing things outside of Metal Gear and generally it's done some positive things for the thread.

But at the same time, I feel like we've placed the mark of death on the same community by going completely off the rails and entertaining and encouraging absolutely everything including what is clearly inappropriate. As everyone keeps pointing out we're extremely lucky to have escaped it, but then we just laugh on and continue to make the thread even more toxic and dangerous? I can't say I understand the logic. And yes, the infighting has got to stop as well. It's not really my place to say what I think caused yesterday's drama as that's on those two, but if I'm honest I believe I read the signs before it actually kicked off and if i'm right it only strengthens my point that this thread needs to calm down as this isn't good for any of us.

I'm actually against the off-topic talk in a "Metal Gear Community" thread. I only post whenever I see someone talking about the story or if Kojima posted something interesting and I had my own take on it. Otherwise, I don't bother. Derailing from the main topic which is everything that is Metal Gear and Metal Gear only should result to a ban in my opinion.

There is an off-topic section on GAF. I used it and I thought it was great to talk about something different for a change. Don't kill this community thread by bringing in shitty hentai stories and pictures that aren't even funny to begin with and are simply off topic. I miss the days when we used to speculate about story related subjects and when we tried to decipher messages and pictures here and there specially when TPP was first shown at the VGAs in 2012.

I tried to infuse some MGS conversation a while back, and there were like 2, maybe 3 takers. It was rather depressing.

That soldier got too excited while sparring and took out a knife. BB steps in and tells him if he wants to fight with a weapon, fight with him. Soldier pussies out but BB forces the soldier to stab him.

If we did this, the thread would literally be dead since TGS. OT talk is fine in moderation. Metal Gear will always be the focus but there's nothing wrong with talking about something else while we wait.

We don't have any new info to speculate about. All we have chopper pics and that is 1-2 pages disscusion max, if there is something interesting on that picture. It's been a long time since Kojima gave us some info that is worth to discuss, speculate and other stuff.

Off topic it's fine as long we are not pushing it.

There's nothing to discuss about mgsv, people are exhausted hyping something out of nothing. Without actual content the fan theories get stupid and cock teasing release dates speculation is equally tiresome.

People want to have a break, just let them. We will always return to mgs.

We don't even need the porn pics and gifs. I don't think there's anything wrong about going off topic here and there because there's nothing else to talk about but twitter pictures, and the twitter pictures are just teases and nothing substantial to talk about all day anyway.

I saw it. I am not really familiar with the 1984 novel that's why I didn't answer.

However, the idea of Skull Face working with Zero was the original assumption we had prior to GZ' ending. After GZ, things have changed. You have a lunatic who wants Big Boss and Zero dead for some reason we still don't know about. We know that these men met before, we just don't know what really happened and why SF wants revenge. But now you have Big Boss looking to avenge the fallen soldiers and to take back everything he has lost and most importantly make up for the years he spent unconscious. At this stage, the story is one big fucked up mess. You're looking at a bloody war that will end terribly wrong.

Regarding the off topic stuff, I will say that it's hard to be a part of MGS GAF if you aren't "in on it". I often pop in here, see the crazy, have no idea what's going on, and just close the thread and try again later.

I mean, I know it's hard as hell to keep talking MGS when we have so little to work with and because of that, it's understandable that some off topic stuff will happen but sometimes it can be too much.

I still love you all though.

There should be limits though. Look, I didn't mind what you guys were posting about me when you found out about my foot fetish thread but I would have appreciated it if you took it to a separate thread in the Off-Topic section. I would have been more than happy to share stories with you about all kinds of fetishes and fantasies. I really want this thread, the Metal Gear community thread that LD worked hard on to be worth the amount of work he dedicated to it. Posting erotic stories or erotic pictures of Japanese anime stars should not be permitted and should not be welcomed here.

But Skull Face's face was caught on fire when he was young no? He used to work at a factory if I recall correctly and the incident happened then. Gene's face was not burned in MPO. And to be honest with you, I think Kojima is staying away from Portable Ops so I doubt he will refer to a character from that story.
