You guys are hardly even Metal Gearing in here anymore.

So this is what times of peace are like. No wonder Big Boss wanted Outer Heaven.

Well we got our release date. And now we play the waiting game.

What's everyone's marathon plan when TPP approaches? I suppose I'll try to play all the games through. I think I'll play Ground Zeroes the entire week before TPP so ill be fresh.

I was planning on playing through everything but with all the good games coming out I think may just do PW and GZ. Hell, might end up just playing GZ the day before launch.

Just a little rant about Peace Walker: fuck the "Locate the ID Card" main mission where you have to do the retarded Naked Snake vs The Boss QTE at the end and you need fucking godly fast reaction times to get it in one try. Doesn't help that the button prompts change with every attempt. Trying to get S rank and this is just the dumbest way I could imagine to be fucked out of it.

Dude, are you sure about the QTEs changing? I could have sworn I had that memorized.

The only thing that seemed to stay constant was on which corners of the screen the button prompts would appear. R1/L1 seemed to interchange with Triangle randomly. I could be wrong but I played through it 4-5 times and it felt like that. Thankfully I got the S rank and I'm now on my way to Chapter 3. :)

Really addicting game. I honestly never thought I would play Peace Walker but it's quite an underrated/overlooked little gem.

Yeah, I remember the first time I moved back into parents house, I had kind of been on a gaming hiatus. I decided to pick up a PSP to keep me occupied, and as I'm shopping... "Wuuuuut?! A new MGS came out for PSP last month? Score!"

Anyone ever check out enka as a music genre? It's pretty good stuff, kind of a mixture of Japanese traditional and blues. It's definitely had a lot of influence on Japanese 8-bit and 16-bit game compositions, particularly with JRPGs, FFIV-FFVI in particular. Wish I could give some recommendations, but the compilation on my iPod is in Japanese. I definitely prefer it to Jpop of any sort.

I've listened to a few enka songs, not something I would normally listen to but it's pretty nice stuff. And yep, those melodies always remind me of old school RPGs

Those basslines man, I've never heard a lot of this stuff and yet some how it triggers my nostalgia.

THE FALL OF OUTER-GAF: Part 1

As the wind picked up a disfigured man approached the cell that was drenched by the rain. He looked down at the prisoner. The searchlights blinded the other prisoners but all this prisoner did was sit still. The man then took out a copy of Ground Zeroes and hit it against the cell twice then throwing it to the prisoner saying "here you earned it" the prisoner looked up, it was Rean, a Gaf member. "Dont worry, I kept my word, she didnt suffer long." The man said. Rean did not respond "How does it feel to play the traitor? No more war games, your a real man now soldier." The man said as he walked away before making one last remark "Give your Boss my regards when you get home". The man then entered a jeep which began to drive in a convoy through the dark rainy base near the prison area.

"6 weeks ago we got Intel that Love Deterrence was being held in an old military base off the Cuban border." "SHE SHURFIFED?" Im sending you get her" What's the plan? Ban her before where compromised?" "No she has intel on our buddies at telegram, we need to get her out before she leaks information. Word of our capabilities gets out we'll have the whole world out to shut us down." "Where a thread without mods" "And she's the only one who knows telegrams true nature."

The man then adjusted the mirror on the jeep revealing a Telegram patch. He then began to slowly walk towards the chopper with his escort. On the chopper it said 'TELEGRAM' He then took out a device and removed it. He then turned around, he was a man called OnigawaraV. " The Trojan horse is in, MOVE!" The man commanded as they all entered the chopper. The chopper then took off with a multitude of others leaving the base. The occupants of the chopper then proceeded to remove their telegram patches, then throwing them off the side of the choppers as they flew into the storm.

One patch began to fall by a nearby cliff falling near a man climbing the cliff with an OUTER-GAF patch on his right arm. "The other target is Rean. The political sensitive nature of the mission means backup is not an option" The radio said. "FINE, I like some alone time anyway" the man climbing the cliff said as he reached its peak. He then slowly crawled towards a good position to view the military base. "Excellent Elder age hasn't slown you down one bit." The radio said. Elder then got up removing his thermal goggles and said "Kept you rajang huh?" *BWAA BWA BWA BWAA*

Sniper wolf was a Kurdish child living on a battlefield saved and raised by Big Boss - what do you think the chances of seeing her in TPP are?

Grey Fox tells Snake he hasn't aged well - had Solid already began advanced aging at this point?

Why does Raven call Snake a kasack ([sic] for cossack? Russian calvary?) and exactly how was Snake's "Blood from the east" Japanese heritage retconned in MGS3?

Didn't BB say something like he was raised on a American base in Japan, but to white parents?

I'm playing through PW again right now and that was exactly the mission I had trouble S ranking again. It's quite annoying because you first have to find the soldier with the orange jacket for the ID card (he spawns in a random area) and then you need to go all the way back to the lab, then you have to mess around with the AI boards and then the annoying QTE starts. And you're right, the button prompts change slightly if you retry a mission.

Really addicting game. I honestly never thought I would play Peace Walker but it's quite an underrated/overlooked little gem.

I'm not a fan of fan fiction.

Yeah I never understood the appeal of it.

Neither am I. Reading it and sometimes even knowing it's near me in places where I do other things gives me that embarrassed feeling akin to when you are watching a movie that you loved as a child and then something really, really cheesy and silly happens and while that cold tingly feeling creeps up your spine as you turn red in the face - someone walks in at that exact moment and slowly turns their head from the TV and looks at you and sarcastically says "Um, what are you watching?!?"

That's how fan fiction makes me feel.

Question 1: Kojima said he's bringing the series full circle, so I bet out chances are bretty gud.
Question 2: Yes. "Our genes are vintage, brotha!"
Question 3: I don't know...
Question 4: Solid Snake may yet have eastern blood. I forget if Eva was the surrogate or the donor, but if either of those roles were fulfilled by a Japanese individual, this may reconcile that

Exactly. It's one thing if the QTE was at the opening of the mission but I feel this was a terribly overlooked detail. I'm almost sure they playtested the regular gameplay sections completely separate from these cutscene QTEs without ever running through the entire completed version of the game.

It's not out of the realm of possibility. She was listed as being in her 20s in 2005 so she could've been born anytime between 1976 and 1985, which would probably put her at 5-9 years of age if she appears in TPP. The only problem is that it would appear the main mission in the Middle East in TPP takes places in Afghanistan and the Iraqi Kurdistan region where Sniper Wolf was born is separated by several hundred miles with Iran in between them. It would be a shame if we didn't get to see her though since the timeline fits perfectly without needing to use retcons. Hopefully there's some Extra Ops mission that focuses on Big Boss rescuing her.

Grey Fox tells Snake he hasn't aged well - had Solid already began advanced aging at this point?

Yeah, I believe so. Campbell also mentions his aging in the opening of MGS1. And of course Liquid especially takes notice of it only 2 years later during the Tanker Incident: "Not so young anymore, eh Snake?"

how was Snake's "Blood from the east" Japanese heritage retconned in MGS3? Didn't BB say something like he was raised on a American base in Japan, but to white parents?

Regardless of the ethnic backgrounds of Big Boss's parents, the egg that was fertilized with Big Boss's sperm was retrieved from a Japanese woman who was Dr. Clark's assistant.

In TPP we have:

Child Liquid
Child Mantis
Young Ocelot

There's a good chance we'll see the formation of MGS1's FOXHOUND. At the very least I'm sure we'll see young Sniper Wolf.
