Metal Gear Solid getting a remake and is a PS5 exclusive

I would not touch an MGS1 remake with a 10 foot pole. The game is fine the way it is.

They tried remaking it and it was insulting.
 
Unless they're bringing the gameplay into the 21st century then no thanks. MGS was great for the time, but that time has long passed.

This is why Sony aren't doing backwards compatibility though, so could very well be true. Can't sell you old stuff again if they let you play it for free!
 
If anything, finally bringing MSX's Metal Gear 1 and 2 (not Solid) to 3D would be the better route. They are still essential to the core story of Metal Gear - and not many people played thru them. I always admired that MGS 1 came out in the late 90s and assumed you played the MSX games from the 80s.

Remaking MGS1 is a bad call. The Ps1 game is timeless perfection.

This doesn't sound real. So Konami will do a full remake of MGS 1 but only remaster 2-4? Why would you decide that at this point? Wouldn't it to make sense to see how MGS 1 Remake does commercially first? THEN decide what to do with 2-4?
 
I wanna believe. But I also can't help but think we're just gonna get ridiculous rumors from people trying to compete with the latest Microsoft acquisition news.

He's one of those 'tech leaker' types. He isn't really involved with actual games stuff generally so I'd treat anything he 'leaks' regarding anything non-tech as suspect.

Seems mighty convenient for this to suddenly leak right after the social media movement to get Sony to buy Konami
 
Mgs1 and mgs3 remake in fox engine with hayter return would be big for me, mgs 2.......not so much, unless snake is playable from the start

 
I've been playing through the MGS games again recently, and they still stand up really well. Even visually. I can't imagine Kojima loves the idea of coming to back to MGS though - I think he'd probably flat out refuse, and MGS5 was bad enough in many ways with his involvement.

I'm not kidding myself though, I'd love to play them again. The HD Collection was gorgeous through Xbox BC, but I'd buy an updated collection or a remake in a heartbeat.

Snake was playable from the start in MGS2, it just depended on your answers to the questions.

If its Sony or Bluepoint then its fine. Thanks to bad BC there's no way to play MGS on a PS4/5 atm. This is actually a needed remake.

MGS is a Konami IP. Sony could just buy the IP outright from Konami or (more likely) make a deal whereby Sony becomes to the exclusive developer/publisher for it but Konami gets cash in the bank. A bit like how EA has the exclusive rights to make Star Wars games. It's not like it hasn't/cannot be done.

Leave it alone it's dead and it had it's place in history, the first remake on NGC already butcherd it enough.

Imagine a more "woke" MGS, you'd think they would keep Naomi African? Or white for that matter? Mei Ling would be checking Snake's privilege and calling him out for flirting with Xer.
