Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes |OT| Kaz, I'm already a demo

Yup. GZ was completely ruined from a story perspective thanks to the trailers.

Already seen enough of Phantom Pain as is. Not watching any trailers/videos of it from this point on. Want to be surprised.

I wouldn't mind, except for the
Paz's stomach bomb scene that showed up in the red band trailer.
I really wish I hadn't watched that beforehand, or GZ's ending would've had quite a bit more impact.

Man, they better have a solution in place for people who purchased the game digitally or I'll be pissed off when TPP comes out and I get nothing for supporting the game.

Glad I got the PSN 10 off or I might have been PO'ed with the length. However, I love the gameplay changes. Kojima been playing FPS's a lot, crysis and call of duty influences are there. Metal Gear 4 was much easier then this game for me. Not sure why I'm having a much harder time with this game.

The guards aren't as stupid in this game. They have a long range for sight and sound.

Is the escort VIP mission a bitch on Hard? Once I've done it pretty much completed 100% apart from a few trials.

Does mission time affect rank?

Some of these scenarios take me time to figure out, especially the hands-off ghost approach, and having a ticking clock in the back of my mind is bothersome.
Yes. It's just as important as your efficiency. The idea is to run through the scenarios several times before you have it down to a science and eventually hit a perfect run. Sometimes it's the time that gets you the S rank, sometimes it's the prisoners, sometimes it's the no reflex bonus. Not everything has to be perfect.

Don't worry about rank in your first playthrough. Take your time and learn the mission. I normally play at a snail's pace than when i'm attempting S rank.

I think the new voice is much better.

The writing and direction are just as terrible as ever, but it seems worse here because it's lacking the levity the previous games always had.

the direction is better than ever. in fact the opening of ground zeroes is probably the best cutscene I've ever seen in a game.

If bad anime story with a returning character that can't control his bowels is serious to you, I don't know what to tell you.

2 and 3 are a lot more self aware than you're giving them credit for. as postmodern takes on violent video game hero worship, they're a lot more honest and nuanced than spec ops the line, and in general they're a lot better than most AAA cinematic storygames that get praised for their narrative. 3 does some really clever things with its tonal shifts, and that's including the poopypants man.

Stephen Fry of all people tweeted about how amazing MGS is.

This is not something I ever thought I'd see (didn't even know he played games). Pretty cool

Blinded by the luminous glory that is David Bowie's physical manifestation.
Haha.
Kojima's line
changes depending on what rank you get, apparently. S-rank gets you "That was perfect!"

This is so awesome, so, so good. I'm glad he liked it.

Although he's obviously one of those guys that defends Kojima, he shouldn't be defending the game, dammit.

To be honest I wouldn't be surprised if he was completely unaware of the controversy surrounding the game. I just looked up some other stuff where he talks about game addiction and being worried that it'll happen to him (again), so something like Ground Zeroes probably suited him perfectly.

Shame. The music for the whole project, including trailers, has been awesome. Infiltration Theme in GZ, Not Your Kind of People and Here's To You are fantastic.

Yeah. I suppose it's because it's the theme for The Phantom Pain. Could be quite a wait until it gets a release. It'd be a surprised if it got released a bit later.

I have put in 10 plus hours and am only at 29% complete. The game is simply amazing. There are so many ways to play the different missions. I spent like 3 hours just trying to tag everyone in the second mission. I haven't even started with doing speed runs, or haven't tried hard mode yet.

I just got my first s rank in the ground zeros mission, now I am ready to mess around and find all patches.

This game is fantastic. Completely worth it for me, I clearly will put like 30-40 hours into this.

I could see it being the same for me. I have no s ranks yet. I just took my sweet ass time with the informant mission, making sure I got the right tape and rescuing the hostages with no alerts. I had a couple reflex shots I had to pull off, but I got a ranking of C.... I couldn't believe it. I did take a long time, though, so I assume that was the problem. I wish that didn't factor in, though.

I'm loving what this type of structure means for TPP and it's replay-ability. Giant open world hubs that you can come back to like chapters and do all kinds of objectives. Seems like an easy thing to add DLC to as well.

Proudly debt free. If you need a couple bucks, just ask.
Do you need to hit R2 all the way down to activate the scope or is my Dualshock3 messed up.

Genius marketing from Kojima. The Metal Gear brand definitely has a lot of power. It's strange not hearing other games that are more systemic in design talked about the rich replay value and how the structure could be tackled in so many different ways with players wanting to spend hours trying different things. Usually "speed runs" and such are a more niche thing with games.

Oh man, TPP will be his doom.

Probably already asked but are the extra ops canon? At first I considered them non canon, rather like some of the extra ops in Peace Walker like going on dates with Paz and Kaz, but then the Metal Gear wiki places them into the timeline. Which of course wouldn't make any sense given
the second to last extra op sees Camp Omega bombed to hell, and these missions are supposed to take place before Ground Zeroes.

Obviously Deja Vu/Jamais Vu missions are not canon.

Played the Xbox exclusive mission, playing as Raiden is pretty cool and the level is quite fun (if you go around blowing shit up like I did)

I'm guessing not. Seems like a bad idea to infiltrate the same base like 5 times in a row

I don't see how they could be canon but, at the same time, they obviously reference things important to the rest of the series. They can't come after Ground Zeroes in any case, but they also can't come before.

Being I got no idea whats going on i'm gonna go back and play peace walker. Besides Big Boss, Boss, and Miller I don't know who any of these people are.

Snake, liquid, and soildius are all clones of Big Boss right?

Yes they are canon, when you play them the game says that they are A pseudo historical recreation of the events that happened in other place. (That's why they say that they are in another place but is camp omega)
