do I bother fultoning enemies during the whole quarantine thing
or can they just speak kikongo and fuck me over

I don't know. Honestly, just rush and do main missions (yellow dot missions) and hurry up with it.
I did that and lost barely anyone. I didn't quarantine anyone since I had way too many people and it is so tedious. I think I lost 30 people. Rather lose them than dick around with the quarantine stuff.

Just do the next main mission quickly.

Just kicked the ass of a hacker intruding in my FOB. He was running invulnerability and using a gun that shoots infinite stun bullets at the max rate of fire. However he had triggered the base alert and couldn't extract and was hanging near the exit trying to spawn camp me but since I had invulnerability for several seconds after spawning I could just run up to him and CQC him, then fulton him. Looks like hacks don't stop CQC.

Didn't you notice that as soon as Child Mantis let go of the Man on Fire, it sort took a step back, and immediately decided to kill itself? That's not something a projection does.

Well now that I think about it, that makes sense. I just found it odd how both of them were always around each other. I thought maybe he was something the kid created using his fire powers. I guess I'll find out who it is soon.

Something concerning weapons in the game:
so I read that I can customize weapons after I rescue the Legendary Gunsmith with the side-op. I got the cutscene about the engraved weapon and whatnot, but I still can't figure out how I customize weapons. Can anyone help me?

You will get more

side ops, I think what I had to do was do other side ops to "refresh" the list and the new ones would pop up.

Regarding your issues
don't bother quarantining, just push through the main mission it's only like 2 or 3 missions and 1 of them is short and the situation is resolved. Also your staff doesn't really matter because the enemy staff you fulton gets upgraded shortly after

now going to mission 35 and I think the story part really isnt light at all. Its just all over the place. At mother base, During missions, guard conversations, casette tapes. This game has a huge amount of voice work. Even more so than any other Metal Gear I remember.

Come to think of it, I think the reason people don't like the story is because
of the low amount of interesting boss figures. I really liked the skull face character but was dissapointed I never battled with him. I guessits because of the health system. I'd rather have a proper health bar then the regenerating system. Boss battles would be much more interesting

It seems to replace weak soldiers, but wouldn't it theoretically replace soldiers with essential skills, because some of them you get early in the game?

I think you have 3 gunsmith extraction missions you have to do before you get the real gunsmith haha. You'll know... after you get him Kaz will tell you you can customize your weapons at the ACC.

If I go and replay Mission 10 and rescue the main objective do I get him on Mother Base again? He straight up died instantly from his wounds once he got to my base in my game and I need an Anesthesia Specialist for a rifle upgrade or is there another somewhere?
Same thing happened to me, I did mission 10 again and got Malak again; this time he was in the medic bay.
 
Catching up on tapes, and Code Talker's voice is so boring that II have trouble paying attention to what he's saying. Barf.

This is without a doubt the worst voice acted MGS game to date.

There are three Legendary Gunsmith side ops, and they're all available one after another, but they won't appear if there's another mission available in the same area. You may need to clear the existing missions in Bwala ya Masa (Africa), Central Base Camp (Afghanistan), and Yakho Oboo Outpost (Afghanistan) to make them appear.

It came back after the second reboot I did weirdly enough. Oh well I guess there was no avoiding it...

Whelp. There's always never going online again if you want to avoid the FOB after it's set up.

What about the [insert weapon] Specialists? Like if all my Pistol weapons specialist are all low level and get replaced, I don't have the ability to make weapons requiring it anymore?

I'm not 100% sure about the specialists because I only tried it with Russian Interpreter, but it's possible those will actually remove the specialization because you can actually re-obtain those specialists by redoing the missions where they are. It makes sense for the Language Specializations to stay since you can't redo those side ops. Actually what you can try to do is move the specialist into the waiting room and see if the specialization is removed from the list of Motherbase abilities.

I'm gonna miss you Quiet! Great ending though. And that final tape... I really liked her whole side story. Still... Things won't be the same without god tier sniper support. Oh well, that's what play through #2 is for lol.

And is it true that you can stop side-op 150 from starting by using the butterfly emblem?

CAN ANYONE JUST SAY ITS VOLGIN! ITS ANNOYING ME TO DEATH. After all the tapes and crap they keep saying "Man on Fire" (im only a few missions in Chapter 2)

Even after Side ops
When you have to get his body during the side ops in Chapter 2. He turned human Volgin and no one says Volgin. Not even Ocelot. Just just said "commander"

i have a hard time distinguishing between ocelot and miller. Both talk at the same deliberate pace and both tend to serve as instructors. Sometimes, i can pick out Ocelot due to Baker occasionally trying to throw a bit of a southern accent on it but often i cant tell who the fuck is on the tape

Where you fight the skulls at the end
was awesome. One long trek through multiple outposts up to a final stronghold.

For some reason I do great for the first two thirds of each mission and then completely shit the bed in the final stretch.

It didnt let me customize until after I went back to MB and then left, then Ocelot gave me info on how to customize weapons.

is there a key/button to pause a tape while on a mission?
I just hate it when i'm playing a tape and Kaz out of no where starts talking and it mutes the tape while still playing.

It's such an inconsistent voice.

I know people hate Hayter in Peace Walker, but so many voices in this are bad, bland, or inconsistent. I still scratch my head the most at Ocelot/Baker. At least we knew ahead of time Snake/Sutherland would be bad or dull.

I got tired of running with the tranq gun, and fulton'ing everyone. My base is completely full, so now I am only kidnapping highly skilled individuals.

As such, I am going full lethal and will be capping fools with silenced weapons. I have my stun arm for the kidnappings. Hopefully this load-out will work.
