Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain |OT2| A Franchise Robbed Of Its Future

I maxed the Quiet bond pretty early into the game so I guess the game didn't recognize it when that option opens up. I had it trigger when I accidentally hit her with a RPG, lowering the bond from max and then maxing it again at the end of the mission. I got the cutscene going back to Mother Base after that.

Thanks :)

Blinded by the luminous glory that is David Bowie's physical manifestation.
all the missions with the child soldiers as enemies are so easy

they're adorable

I love punching them in the face but not being able to fulton extract them
until muuuuuch later after those missions when you can get the fulton +child ability
. GG Kojima. GG.

I am LOVING the game but starting to get infuriated

I am doing the main storyline quests and I think I have done 8 of them? but why do they ALWAYS go to the same villages/outposts? I mean I think I have been to the same village 4 times already all for different ( same ) types of missions....what gives?!?! I thought this was open world? why isnt every single mission objective in a new environment?

What "build" does everyone like to use? I've grown rather fond of this loadout:

http://orig14.deviantart.net/dffa/f..._07_17_57_16_248_by_realghostvids-d98vjov.jpg

The order of attack goes CQC > Silenced rifle > Loud weapons. It's fun getting in real close and throwing people around and only using the rifle for emergencies; and the revolver and shotgun are just plain fun to use.

The silenced rifle really is overpowered though, which is why I try to not use it too often. Just shoot each guard in the arm or leg one by one and by the time you're reloading you'll have an outpost full of sleeping enemies ripe for extracting. Of course if the enemies are fully armoured that just shits all over almost any projectile weapon, but that's where crawling around and doing CQC comes in handy.

I really like that there are so many weapons to choose from and that so many different playstyles are completely effective. I never feel bad when an infiltration goes wrong because I know that I'll be able to get myself out of it and feel cool doing it.
Am using the same loadout since the first mission.
Silenced assault rifle, tranquilizer pistol and now the tranquilizer sniper.

Sneaking Suit. First from ground zeroes now the first tpp one.

Was using the rubber pellet smg for a few missions.
Silencer doesn't even last one clip.

Can you upgrade your silencer later in the game?

You can, but unless you want to wait until the very last upgrade for the weapon, your improved silencer will have to come from another gun of the same class.

So, I'm trying it pick between a game to purchase to play while I'm on vacation.

It's either this, or Until Dawn.

Couple quick questions. How long is the main story? I know Ground Zero was a demo basically, but I finished the main mission in like 45 mins, and the game play, while great felt, lacking, are the missions usually about that long or, are they more varied in length?

I enjoyed Ground Zero, and I'm a semi fan of MGS, but I'm a big fan of games like Heavy Rain and The Walking Dead, games like Until Dawn, just trying to make a decision is all.

Thanks.

I'm at around mission 38 or so and I have to say, I haven't been this addicted to a game in a long, long time. The gameplay is everything I was hoping it would be based on the 50+ hours i put into Ground Zeroes.

And sunovabitch, why isn't the soundtrack available on Amazon or Google Music? :(

I beat it but never saw it (bond was maxed out too), how can I trigger it? Currently replaying

mmm i'm pretty sure that is the bond level that triggers it, but honestly i didn't undestand shit about how cut scene are dropped in this game
i mean, first they are doing
their weird love shit under the rain, 2 minutes later i've come back to MB and Quiet is being tortured. what the hell?

I have a huge like-hate (well, a lot more hate) relationship with that scene.

Waste of a good character moment for
both BB and Quiet

me too
i love
Quiet
character,
hell i even refuse to remove the butterfly emblem and watched her ending on youtube
, but that scene has sooooo much wasted potential

The game is 30 hours and more. It is absolutely huge on content, exceedingly light on story, so if you like Metal Gear for story and characters, you will be disappointed....

but it is amazing to play nearly all of the time. It's a strange dichotomy.

I've heard it's about 40-50 hours if you just blast through the main story. I have over 100 hours on this game and still haven't reached the end.

There are different sorts of missions. Some are kind of normal, others are incredible and unique.

question about quarantine - post mission 21 or so

I figured out from the tapes that mouths > language seem to be what spreads it? is it worth it then to have all the soldiers that speak kikongo on quarantine? seems like i'll lose some plenty base levels. worth it?

if so.. uh... is there a fast way to do it? :/ cant sort through language and I have a shit ton of soldiers

It sucks, but you absolutely must go through your list and quarantine everyone with that stat or your base will be decimated.

If you don't quarantine very kikongo speaker you WILL lose many people to the parasite. And no, there isn't a way to do this faster.

I didn't put a lot of soldier on quarantine because I didn't know who was infected. I lost 20 men or so.

Report me for trolling ND/TLoU2 threads
I was wondering if people could give me tips on using Quiet, she is a good buddy yet been frustrating for me, I will have her in attack mode and I notice she misses a lot of enemies to highlight (dd seemed better at this), my main problem though is her positioning and where to place her on the map. I will take aim at someone I want her to "take aim at", then once I am at the person I want to take out myself simultaneous she will switch to the new target I have acquired. very frustrating none the less.

That whole section made me desperately wish there were more filter options for the staff of Mother Base. Being able to just go into a list and
single out all of the folks who spoke Kikongo
would have been a godsend. I had scroll through 699 freaking people.

wow this is stupid.

im losing 8-10 levels on each base

I was trying to get to develop some newer stuff today

what a god damn terrible design decision. wow.

I'm not a Metal Gear expert, so if someone wants to answer my question feel free to spoil.

Mission 31 spoilers:

Would the events of Mission 31 have taken place if Eli never snuck into the chopper? I'm assuming Eli's "rage" is what made Shamalamadingdong move, so if he was never there what would have happened? Skull face's rage would have made it move? Also I'm assuming it doesn't actually work as a normal robot, basically it only moves due to supernatural reasons?

If you want a good story, probably go with Until Dawn. If you're in an action stealth type of mood, go for MGSV.

If I go and replay Mission 10 and rescue the main objective do I get him on Mother Base again? He straight up died instantly from his wounds once he got to my base in my game and I need an Anesthesia Specialist for a rifle upgrade or is there another somewhere?

It still would've happened. Child Mantis would've just used Man on Fire. But Eli was a more appealing Metal Gear pilot, so the switch took place.

basically getting punished for expanding all bases and having a ton of soldiers

great stuff
If you just rush the main mission and quarantine the right people, you'll keep loses to a minimum. I only lost about 15 people and had to quarantine 300+.

Yeah, you've got to plow through the main missions. Don't fuck around. Quarantine everyone you can, and go. The cure will come soon enough.

Post Mission 31 spoilers:
Oh, the man on fire is a real person? I assumed it was some sort of projection Floaty McFirestarter was creating.

I think the best part is Ocelot constantly asking "DID YOU FIGURE OUT WHAT'S CAUSING THE INFECTION"

yeah I did you motherfucker but Kiefer is a mute

Didn't you notice that as soon as Child Mantis let go of the Man on Fire, it sort took a step back, and immediately decided to kill itself? That's not something a projection does.

I have something like 58 hours and only 30% completion if that tells you anything.

Hah. Holy shit. You can't play MGSV in offline mode on Steam. It actually tells you to go back online.

MGSV is gonna disappear someday, and there's nothing we can do about it.

The pirates of the world will have to save us in the quest to preserve video games yet again.

Something concerning weapons in the game:
so I read that I can customize weapons after I rescue the Legendary Gunsmith with the side-op. I got the cutscene about the engraved weapon and whatnot, but I still can't figure out how I customize weapons. Can anyone help me?

I have a question about fultoning and mission replaying. If you fulton a character on a first run and replay the mission and kill them will they not exist on Motherbase anymore (especially if they're mission targets)? Could you Fulton a character multiple times over multiple replays of a mission, or is fultoning characters on replayed missions a waste of time/GMP?

It's not fully explained and was curious since I'm going to try and replay a few earlier missions.
Anybody know this?

I know the tutorial itself is forced, but I know at some point I was able to back away from the FOB stuff and actually play the game. I think it was in between getting the security team and the initial set up of an FOB. I wish I could remember when that was, but maybe that just depended on pings to the server or like you said, random.

You'll have to let us know if it does come back or not.

It came back after the second reboot I did weirdly enough. Oh well I guess there was no avoiding it...

Did you rescue the gunsmith
?

If you did, you can select Customize in your iDROID. only at the ACC tho.

D Horse is the worst buddy. He would be more useful as tactical adhesive.
Think of him as portable cover.

I cleared the outpost/base where Malak was held without getting off him. I used the lean over ability while on him and popped up to tranq guards in between causing distractions with magazines etc. Was a lot of fun.

I don't think that cutscene is related at all. There are 3 of those missions you need to do
